Very nice staff at this location. I was checking out, and Kennedy was the associate working. She smiled and apologized as she was putting away merchandise and didn't see me initially. That gesture within itself was greatly appreciated! Kennedy verified my coupons and also checked my rewards status. Overall, great service. I'll definitely return to this location in the future.

Popped in before Christmas and they opened at 9. 🙂2 hours before the mall opened at 11.🤪 Staff was helpful and friendly.5 stars for being open, fully staffed and friendly.

I came looking for children’s shoes. They didn’t have much of a selection. It was disappointing compared to their adult shoe selection. They did have some nice looking clothes for my infant granddaughter. It wasn’t what I came for, but bought anyway. I don’t shop at JCPenney any more, but may come back to look at children’s clothes.

Traveled to Rocky Mount because of death in the family. Siblings and I went to JCPennys for attire while in town. Received an overhead announcement to begun to check out at the register cause the store is closing soon. The cashier who was not at the service desk shows up and announced that she could take me at the other register. So once we moved to the other register she proceeded to open the other register and began the process of closing out the register while the customers wait at the other register. Totally not a customer friendly place for such an empty store.

This particular JCP is a far cry from what it used to be, the country can thank Simmon Properties for saving them out of bankruptcy! Most people don't know who they are. They are the largest mall owners around the world, who have brought there business savvy to this organization. Great job SMP!

Went shopping an bought 2 of the same pants suppose to be on sale same pants got them off the same table only one pair on sale, make it make sence ,if all these clothes weren't so expensive they wouldn't have all these junky clearance ranks everywhere

I visited this store recently for a simple style ring to add to an outfit I had. I am disabled and have a services dog to assist me with my disability. My dog preformed his duties perfectly and did not cause any kind of disturbance. As I was checking out, the man who completed my purchase commented about my dog and said that I should not have taken him out when it was raining outside. He said that the rain was making my dog nervous and I should not have come out. I informed the man that he was a service dog and I had the proper certification if he wished to see it and confirm my claims. He told me that he could not ask for that and continued to tell me that my dog needed to go home because of the rain. (Side note, when my dog is not working, he loves playing in the rain. He is a lab and adores water. Also, it was a light rain, and he shook all the excess water off before entering the store.) I was extremely disappointed with this interaction. As a disabled customer, I expected the employees to be accepting and accommodating. However, my experience was the opposite. The change I would like to see here is an environment that is safe and understanding of disabled individuals.

I used to enjoy shopping at this location, up until summer came. It is way too hot in this store for customers. It's understandable that the A/C could be broken for a week or two, but to have a broken A/C unit for the entire (hottest on record) summer is on the unacceptable side. When I go shopping there, I find myself rushing to get out of the store or in front of the portable A/C units that are throughout the store. It has to be close to 90+ degrees in that store, I have no clue how the employees stand it.My only other complaint would be in regards to the coupons and the $10 off rewards certificates. I've had several instances, where I'll purchase an item that cost $15 and use a $10 off certificate, but my total is $8 or $9(instead of $5). The cashiers always say that it's sales tax, but they can never explain what percentage of tax is being charged. I've even used a $10 off certificate on an $11 blouse and the total was $5, when I questioned how that could be, the cashier looked at me as if I were a lunatic and claimed to have no clue what I was saying (it must be the new math taught in school these days).

This store has had no AC since before the summer started. You think people want to spend time shopping in a store that is 90+ degrees?? Wonder why your revenue is down? Shame on this corporation for expecting their employees to work in these conditions. I'll spend my money at a place that isn't more concerned about the CEOs pockets than the people breaking their backs everyday. American companies need a wake up call

Coming back after working for 3 years not being paid for doing the job I was doing the GM then Frank expected me to continue working without being paid for the job I was doing I was asked to resign. Coming back with a new GM Rosa, part time informing the news GM of everything I did and went through with the previous GM. I was still getting used to the new gig and trying to work through conflict of schedules and childcare to get there at a reasonable time that would not have me late. I spoke with the GM personally and when I had to call out it was my fault that I wasn’t prepared and getting used to my new schedule. I missed a day being new I already knew it was a bad look but moving forward I would do better. I reached out to the new GM on her personal line so that she would know and instead of her reaching back out or even responding she spoke with another team member and when I reached out to her after she spoke with someone else that worked there about me I felt was very unprofessional might I add because I am grown and have a whole family I’m taking care of, the Gm asked that I reach out during store hours at the store number and when I called I had to call several times to speak with her and when I was finally able to speak to her she wouldn’t even let me talk and kept cutting me off in my experience this is not a company that you’d want to work for. These jobs do not pay enough and the people working feel like because they have that title they can talk to you any kind of way. She hung up on me after not hearing me out and was cutting me off. Very unprofessional. They need help but if you want to work for someone that respects you this is NOT the place. I love shopping there but I will not be giving this place any money that I work hard for due to the unprofessionalism I experienced.

Wonderful customer service by Ms. Aniya in online returns dept. on evening of March 14th 2023 at Golden East mall location. Extremely patient!!! Very kind and considerate. I returned a lot of items..at least 10 or more. She never expressed anything but professionalism and kindness. The world needs more people with her character and kindness!! Thank u JCPENNEY'S for hiring her.

Went to pay for items, got in line behind one lady whom I finally realized was only talking to cashier & not actually buying anything. Cashier kept socializing & never attempted to wait on me. Actually moved away from register area to continue her conversation. As I waited & watched. So Rude & disappointed as this lady has been there for years. Totally disgusted in entire situation & left without purchasing anything. Will not shop here again! Store in a mess, managers need to be reschooled or go home. Most of staff don’t care about customers. JCPenny has gone to the bottom of the barrel.

I ordered a pair of slacks on January 30, 2023 to be delivered to Rocky Mount NC store. The tracking information states that the slacks were delivered to the store on February 2, 2023. I have not received any notification of pickup availability and when I call the store I am told they have not been delivered yet. I have paid for my order and would appreciate someone telling me what the problem is. I have a strong guess what the problem actually is but will not put that in this comment this time.

Customer service was horrible last week. I could tell Jamal was new and I didn't like how he treated my aunt, bagged her items and had no people skills.I shop here often but with service like this, I'll go back to inline shopping!!I sure do miss Mr. Frank being there ! ! Customers were treated fairly and people cared about their jobs and Customers.

Went in for a pair of shoes for an up coming wedding and had to spend 15 minutes to find someone to help me. Stock strode all over the place. I know we are still with issues associated with the pandemic but expected better. 😒👎

My sisters and I went into the store doors were unlocked , there's no one in the store working , we walked around for 20 or more calling for someone no one there , we started to feel scare , I called the 1 800 # they didn't seen to care , I called RM police department to be told get in touch with mall security , well we had to leave jc penny and drive around mall to get to security whole time here is jc penny wide open with no one working and ppl going in , a couple hours later we go back to jc Penny to shop only to be treated ugly by a Spanish woman who was manager , so I asked her were she the one that didn't lock door the night before.

I waited in line for about 20 minutes only to have my sale merchandise rung up at the regular price. Then waited longer while the cashier called twice for a price check. When the sale price was verified I had to continue to wait for her to finish helping the customer she took while waiting for my price check. Finally gave up when she called once again because she had forgotten the sale price. Most inefficient operation!!!

Store was obviously in a "closing the doors" mode; cluttered & unorganized. Help was inadequate & multiple registers unmanned. Service was not good & several associates not pleasant, although one in housewares was customer focused. There was a line in online order pick up and service there was really slow. Not a good experience. Free parking available around the store.

I'm... just... sad... I was one of about six customers in the store on an August 2021 afternoon... I'm 58yo, so remember the days with Penney's was relevant... I was surprised by how EXPENSIVE their everyday fare is... same items on Amazon or Walmart are much less. Obviously, today's consumers have already figured that out. The store was clean and well-stocked, but without any allure, is it perhaps time for this chain to pull the plug?

Went into Sephora and let me tell you I left HIGHLY SATISFIED! The employee, Caron was very informative and extremely helpful. Not only did he help me but made sure any other guest who came in was spoken to and assisted just as much. I have a great experience here!
