Our trip with Than was far and away the BEST guide experience I've ever had. Not only is he an incredible teacher, he's a hell of a smart guy and really interesting to talk to. The conditions were a little rough but we still caught lots of solid fish and had an absolutely great time.

Took my 10 yr old fishing with Rob as our guide. What can I say…he had an experience that most world class fly fishermen would dream of! Rob was an excellent guide with tons of experience and knowledge. He was engaging with my boy and very patient. Got us onto the fish and we had a blast! This was not my first experience with DRO and won’t be my last!

While mid August is not the ideal time of year to be fishing for trout necessarily, our guide Landon Lipke, put us on a lot of quality fish.Landon is very patient and clearly enjoys what he does which made the experience even better.We had a blast and can't wait to get back out there.Thank you, Landon!

Fished with Guide Rob Lilley in early June high in the mountains of Pisgah National Forest. We were tracing blue lines (small streams) chasing native wild Brook Trout. One of, if not the best guided trip I have ever had. Rob was a class act and taught me a lot about this very technical type of fly fishing. The scenery and fish were beautiful. Highly Recommended!!

Folks in the shop are a great resource and fishing the private waters unguided for the initiated does not disappoint. If you can safely manage wading back and forth down the river without disturbing other anglers, you’ll experience one of the best ways to truly absorb how magical their managed waters really are…Large bows and further up river nice shots at sizable browns. The shop is an excellent source for tying materials if you plan on tying your own flies. Truly a spectacular shop. Thanks for the top notch advice and overall friendliness while hosting me in the area all week! Looking forward to the next trip back!

Posting this a bit late but back In June my neice, bro In law and myself had the opportunity to go fish with Kelly. We went right behind the building and they were not biting at first but then started to hit. We caught 20+ between the 3 of us and I even caught the grand slam which of course if first timers luck. We would def be back to do this again in the future what a great experience and staff and the store is awesome as well.

Went out on a guided (Walker is amazing) trout fly fishing tour with my father to their private fishing grounds. It was an amazing experience.Both Dad and I have fished all over the world and even though we are experienced fishermen Walker had all the tricks and guidance we were looking for.Also the store is very conveniently located and full of very friendly staff.

While I myself have zero idea how anyone thinks fishing is fun… Most of the men in my family are enamored with it. That said, this place was incredible, I took my son early in the morning on a Tuesday to get him a couple of extra flies. If they don’t have it here I don’t know where they would… This place had everything and the prices were really good too. It was just a great spot that almost made fishing look “gamified.” They had a beautiful artwork up on the dry-erase board, someone had taken the time to draw a beautiful fish behind the lettering and information. I still have zero interest in the sport - but after hitting this store I could see how some people like it. ;)

Chris Johnson my guide is the very best. With his dog “Tippett”. I’m 72 and it’s been awhile fly fishing. Chris was fun, patient, diligent and extremely knowledgeable. Jay Dodd was our guide for the morning. He was very patient with us and really taught my wife and I how to cast properly. It was a freezing cold morning but we caught a bunch of nice trout! Even saw 4 bald eagles first thing. I appreciated Jay’s passion for what he does and his love for the outdoors. We will definitely be back on our next trip to the mountains.

It just doesn't get any better! I booked a full day guided trip on their private waters and had a trip of a lifetime. I am a pretty experienced fly fisherman and have been booking guided trips with DRO for the last 12 years and I am never disappointed. All their guides are great, and Chris Johnson was no exception. It was the first time I fished with Chris, and I absolutely loved him . I asked him to help me with my roll cast and mending, and immediately improved (flip paint off the paint brush, or flip mashed potatoes off the spoon!). Lots of neat tricks on fly selection, reading the river, insect life, the list goes on and on. Highly recommend DRO and Chris no matter what your experience level.

I did a half-day guided wade trip with Chris and his dog Tippet on the Davidson just across the street from the shop. It was spectacular! The fall weather complemented the outstanding fishing. I wanted to learn how to euronymph and Chris was an outstanding teacher. He was very patient and maintained his sense of humor throughout the morning. Tippet was a blast! I have done a few other guided trips with these guys before (kudos to Jeb who guided us earlier in the year and also provided outstanding service) and they can definitely put you onto some big fish! Highly recommended if you're in the Brevard, Hendersonville, or Asheville area!!

Great people here, my fly reel broke on a trip and I stopped in. Everyone there tried to fix it and I thought that was great since it's not a reel repair store. Ended up buying a reel so I could keep fishing this weekend and caught a few trout with the flies they recommended.

We had the opportunity to fish with Zach while on vacation last week. I fished with my daughter-in-law. Neither of us had any experience, so we really didn’t know what to expect. The shop provided everything we needed! My wife asked if she could come also to take photos and video. They provided her with waders as well!Fishing with Zach was a blast! We had a fantastic morning fishing at the private area. We were greeted by a bald eagle and a great blue heron when we got to our first spot. Zach was great. He showed us what we needed to do and was very patient with these “first timers”. We caught some really nice rainbow trout, one brown trout, and lost a fair number as well.Overall, this was a memorable experience I got to share with my wife and my daughter in law!

Been buying equipment and gear from Davidson Outfitters for over 25 years now. I've never been disappointed with the gear or service. Stop in, but bring your check card or credit card. Fly fishing is a great sport but very expensive hobby to have.

This is an excellent full service fly shop. It is a good investment in time to stop there before you fish the area. The guides and staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and answer your questions thoroughly. They keep as well stocked as currently possible with high quality brands covering a good price range. I've been going to them for 21 years, and have never had to have a reason to go anywhere else.
