I visited this place approx 2 yrs ago. Worst customer service experience I've ever experienced. Employees were incredibly unkind. It's like they didn't want anyone in the store. Had we been treated better we would have returned because the selection of toys was unbeatable.

We have received by adoption many parakeets from this bird rescue. I also received Opal a Indian ring neck. They have supplies for your birds and they also board our birds if we must take a trip. With classes and advice they will help in the adoption of your next feathered pet.

I have been to this location many, many times, and I have never been treated kindly and enthusiastically by the staff. They are always suspicious and never want to engage in any kind of conversation. I admire how well cared for the parrots are, but every visit to this store is full of side glances, dismissive words, and reluctant service, despite me being a regular customer! I am polite, respectful, have never been a bother to the birds or the staff, and only come in to buy bird food and toys. Clearly not everyone that has been here has had the same experienceā¦ so I canāt help but wonder if my āparticular demographicā has something to do with it.I will continue shopping here because it is the only place in my area I can purchase quality parrot supplies, but I think I would really love this store if I was just treated with kindness.

Parrot U is a great place to purchase the necessary supplies for owning a bird plus get educated on the care of parrots of any size.A stop at this supply store allows you to visit with the rescued birds that Companion Parrots Rehomed (āCPRā) has available for adoption. The store is ran mainly by volunteers who keep it clean and well stocked with bird food, toys, cages and travel carriers. They also offer parrot boarding in various types of rooms. You can arrange to meet with a parrot groomer on-site to have your birds nails trimmed, etc. or meet with a trainer to learn more about parrot behavior, work with a parrot, and learn what it takes to own and care for these amazing birds.Fundraisers are held throughout the year including Bosleyās Birthday Bash, held annually in July. Itās truly a great place to get started, maintain, and learn all about the world of parrots! ā¤ļø

Didn't really have the greatest experience here. The person working here is rude and seems to lack basic decorum. I drove down from Raleigh on two occasions to attend classes -- compulsory for adoption -- and filled out the requisite forms, yet was never followed up with when I inquired about any of the birds. They make you visit the bird at least three times before finalizing adoption. For every bird I inquired about, I was told, curtly, "A family is already working with that bird." I'm not sure why these birds are listed as available on the site if people are "working with" them and hence they are no longer available. For a bird who was available, I was told I would be contacted to schedule an appointment with one of the trainers, but was never followed up with. They also seem to have an unusual policy when you are interested in a specific type of parrot. The lady mentioned there was a wait-list, but, upon my probing, admitted that everyone on the list is called at the same time when a new bird arrives. Then I guess at that point whoever arrives to meet the bird first ends up being the one who is "working with" them and has dibs. When I asked about this, saying, "Oh I live in Raleigh so would only be able to come on weekends, how does this work? Does the first person in that this point always 'win'?" she replied with "I understand." Very strange indeed. Finally, they rebuke you to not "put your fingers in the cages" as soon as you come in. Condescending to adults, but reasonable I guess. Unfortunately, these rules don't seem to be enforced though for the "regulars," as I saw a few people who were friendly with the staff reaching in the cages and petting the parrots and were not reprimanded. Not really sure what that's about. If you are looking to adopt a parrot, that is wonderful! I highly recommend Phoenix Landing. They are infinitely more professional and knowledgeable, and are fantastic throughout the entire process.

Great place to learn about parrots and a large selection of food, bowls, and toys for your feathered friend. Also offer classes to educate you if you're looking into getting a pet parrot. They offer adoptions for parrots needing rehoming.

They board my bird when I go out of town. Very friendly and caring folks. My bird seems very well when I pick her up. They also re home birds who had to be given up. If you've ever thought about getting an exotic bird, try here first.

This is an awesome place just to visit ā¦ even if you donāt have a bird. I am there about once a month to pick up food, toys, etc for our parrot. It is such a joy to visit all the birds there; some are there for many visits, others come and go as they are rescued and then adopted. Classes are offered to help with your adoption, feeding, making toys for them ā¦ anything you may need for your new baby. Most of the staff there are volunteers who love the birds like they were their own. If you need a āhappyā stop during your day, spend a few of your precious moments with these precious feathered babies. You will certainly leave with a smile on your face ā¦ and in your heart ā¤ļø

Full disclosure: I volunteer at this mission-driven non-profit. But that gives me even greater insight into what a great place this is. The sale of bird supplies and the charge for boarding your bird finds the mission, which is.... Taking in, carrying for, and finding new homes for abandoned or relinquished birds. And they truly live that mission. Every employee and every volunteer cares deeply about these beautiful birds and is committed to finding the best life possible for them.

Wonderful place full of great birds that need loving homes. I adopted from here back in September and couldnāt be happier with this decision and the process in order to adopt. The people here really care for the birds and want the best for them. They ensure these guys are going to good homes with people that know exactly what owning a parrot entails. The education they provide through fun and informative classes is great. I come in every couple weeks to visit with the birds and shop around for mine because they have such a great selection of food, treats, perches, and toys. Iām so glad I found out about Parrot U and now I have a great little companion because of them! :)

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Almost everyone who works there are volunteers, so you know they are just there because they love birds. The volunteers are passionate, knowledgeable, and helpful! Anyone who says something about being disappointed with not being able to hold the birds, there is plenty you can get to know about a bird through the bars of the cage. You also have to be serious about adopting, not just looking around, to be able to work with a bird. I assure you that this place is amazing, and I highly recommend it!

I boarded my parrot several days, as we were transitioning from selling our house and moving to another house in this area. I was very pleased with the care they provided. I was able to check in on him almost daily and his cage was always very clean. The food and water bowls were consistently maintained. He loved the fresh food they provided. They even went out of their way to take him to the vet and didnāt charge extra. I wonāt hesitate to bring him back in the future!

Parrot University is the place to go if you are considering adopting a bird. All birds there were given up by their former owners. Parrot University takes the best care of the parrots. Every single bird, from Budgie to Macaw is in tip top condition. Each is gently and regularly handled so that every bird is ready to become a sweet feathered family member. They also offer classes on everything from making bird toys at home to the care and feeding of your bird. Bird toys, food, and supplies are also sold there. I have never seen a better place to adopt a bird from! There is support for the new bird parents and birds at every step of the way. Because parrots very often outlive their pet parents, Parrot University is a very important establishment, and they take their role seriously. This is not a pet shop. It is so much more.

Very informative about parrots. The education about birds is very important, I have had parakeets through out my life and never really knew what I know now after classes. If you love birds and canāt adopt you can always donate or volunteer.

I adore Parrot U for their commitment to parrot education, safety, and wellness. They taught me all of the foundational things needed to keep my parrots (rescued from Parrot U) safe, healthy, and happy. I trust them with everything.

Only gave 3 stars, and that was for how clean and well taken care of the birds are. The staff on the other hand, is less than happy to be there it appeared. My wife and I go in there once a month to see the birds and buy a few things(We usually spend no less than $200 per visit) to help the business prosper(Amazon has everything for less). Only once were we treated nicely, the staff(the non volunteers) are rude and look down on people, they do not want to engage in conversation about the birds, and when they do it's as if we are bothering them. We will not be returning. Good luck and I hope things change for the birds sake.

We love coming here for the wide variety of toys and treats for our quaker parrot. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and eager to help. Their love for our avian friends is obvious, and we definitely want to support local business!

I was in town for my sister's funeral and saw Parrot U as I was looking for gas and had to stop in. I had heard about Parrot U at home in Michigan. Very lovely place, lots of beautiful birds looking for new homes.. I have a 34 year old Goffins Cocatoo that I have had since he was 18 months old, so I was not in the market for a bird, but after spending some time giving attention to all the birds I did buy some goodies for my cockatoo and my sister-n-law's Amazon to help support the "Rescue". Yes, Parrot U also has a very good selection of toys, accessories, and foods and treats dedicated to our feathered friends that they use the proceeds to continue their work. If in the Pineville NC area, stop in and check them out.

Very knowledgeable staff. Really know and understand bird behavior. Free classes to the public for adoption. Free classes also to bird owners who really want to understand how to properly take care of their birds. Store carries quality food, treats, toys etc. I've really learned a lot and am thankful I have this resource available to me. A+++

What a great idea for a pet shop. Well, actually, it's more like a refuge. Most of their birds had been mistreated before arriving at the store, so many of them are missing feathers and have nervous personalities. You'd have to have a true love for animals, to adopt here. They require two classes before you can purchase a bird. Much of the abuse and neglect that were suffered by these birds could have been avoided if the owners had been educated. Much love to this place!

My son is interested in a pet bird. We went here to get a feel of the animal and see if it is truly something he wants. We were told we could not hold or touch the birds which is somewhat understandable. I then asked if she could get a bird out and hold it so we could see them closer and how they interact with humans. She told us no, shes not allowed. Absolutely absurd. How can anyone know for sure if they want a pet bird if they cant see how it interacts with people. We were not even allowed to look at the bigger birds. Total waste of time.

Through and through the best exotic bird place I have ever seen. My family and I went here several times and even though we never rescued a bird, the staff was really great. The amount of time, care, and effort they put into the birds really lets you know that he birds are their top priority.

This place is seriously the best if you're looking to adopt and/or learn more about birds! I've had them my whole life and still learned so much from these classes! They spend so much time training the birds and teaching and making sure they go to the best possible home. The staff is so friendly!

Very nice people, always say hello when I walk in and leave. I go there to look at the parrots until I can adopt one! The ladies I meet there always answer any questions I have, and one was even nice enough to let me see a parrot they were keeping in the back one time!Friendly people, cute birds, large variety of bird supplies from toys to cleaning things! If you have the chance, stop by to look at their birds!

Staff is always happy and friendly. We look forward to stopping by each week to see the birds and the work they do to find forever homes for these amazing animals is terrific! This is our only place to get toys and food for our birds.

The staff were completely rude and obtuse while we visited the beautiful birds. Wanted information on everything from how to care for birds to taking classes. As we went from cage to cage careful not to touch, they insisted we shouldn't even bother the birds. It left my daughter and I upset to the point we will never patron an establishment that is this inconsiderate and extremely rude to the public. They were rude to the birds as well!! I couldn't believe it. We tried talking with one of the chatty birds and was told to get away from him because all he wants is attention and we should leave him alone. Shame on this place and the workers there.
