Cute little place near the water. We stopped here twice while visiting family. My husband wanted to show me the area, as his mom lives near there. We grabbed some coffee and walked around. There were locals sitting on the porch with pups hanging out and chatting. The building overlooks the water, where there are some boat docks.We ordered the same coffees both times we stopped by. The first day, the girl was very nice, and prompt. The second day, the girl behind the counter (a different girl) seemed less than enthused to be there. The customer in front of us was clearly a local who had seen her several times, and was trying to chit-chat. She was basically telling him that she was starting college and leaving that town. She sounded very happy to be doing so, and like she could not wait to not be there.I am lactose intolerant, so I ordered almond milk. She gave me oat milk instead. When she gave it to me, she said it was oat milk. So, I asked again what it was, and she said oat milk, although that is not what I ordered. I drank it anyway, and didn't say anything. I hate wasting food. It was just very obvious that she heard the wrong thing, and made that intentionally, which just makes me think she was not really paying attention. Oat milk has a very distinctive taste, which I do not care for. It makes your coffee taste like oat milk, rather than coffee. I just really did not care for this girl's whole demeanor. Although, it does sound like she's off to college now. Good luck to her! The other girl was very pleasant.I thought this was an adorable spot, with good coffee. They use paper cups, which is better for the environment. It felt homey, but fun. I gave it a good review despite the wrong order because I think that was an isolated incident. I would love to be able to come hang out on the porch and have a coffee here a few times a week. What a location and what a nice vibe.

The Bean seems to be the heart and soul of this town, especially since it's right across from the Town Dock. This is the place to be whether you're local or visiting, and the coffee is excellent! They have self serve brewed hot coffee, a number of specialty coffee and tea drinks, bagel sandwiches, and ice cream. Stopping in here is a must if you are visiting. The views of the dock from the porch are perfect!

We had an amazing experience at The Bean!! The young lady behind the counter was the only one on shift and when we walked in there were easily 10 other people also wanting a treat. She was so kind and even though I know it had to be stressful, she handled it with grace and knocked out all the specialty coffee drinks without breaking a sweat!! I ordered a super extra specialty coffee - iced latte with almond milk and sugar free salted caramel flavoring...and I am not kidding when I say this was the best iced latte I have had in about 17 years (I managed a coffee shop back then so obvs mine was the best ;) ). It was so good and the customer service was awesome. We will definitely go out of our way to return to The Bean!

Coffee/ice cream. Wonderful little gem. Service was fantastic young man at the counter was very busy, he answered questions while patrons were talking amongst themselves before they had to ask. He was quick and very kind. Ice cream was hard scooped on sugar or cake cones. Good flavor choices.Dietary restrictions: They had a sugar free ice cream option

Honestly, the best iced latte I've had - the flavors were perfectly balanced with the espresso and almond milk, and the coffee ice cubes should be the standard at all coffee shops for iced drinks. I will be back and I highly recommend a visit for all.Vegetarian options: Oat, almond, and soy milk options

The Bean is the best place to both begin and end a day. The morning coffee selection and prices work well. The evening has plenty of ice cream and cold drink options. This place truly respects the coffee. Unlike the big stores, the Bean even uses frozen coffee for ice cubes to prevent dilution.I'd highly recommend stopping by.Wheelchair accessibility: The Bean has installed a wheelchair elevator to prevent needing to go up the steep stairs.

We stopped for some caffeine late morning on a Sunday. It was busy but the young woman behind the counter was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed good coffee sitting outside with a lovely view. We are going back today.

I’m not coming back hereThat RED HEAD girl that works there…..It took her 7 minutes to take my orderAnd 15 minutes before she made my smoothie…..And she took everyone else’s order immediately!And she was making drinks for people who had came in after I did…..I was sitting there for almost 20 minutes!I almost walked out!!

I love the bean. Been coming here on and off for probably about five years or more now and they have always had some of the best coffee around the area. I always find it hard to find strong coffee when I'm in NC, but this place does their coffee well. The place is cute, has outdoor seating and a little indoor area as well.

Honestly my favorite place in oriental. The pastries are bomb, coffee is bomb, smoothies and cold drinks are bomb. The entire place is so cool. The view is absolutely amazing. The staff are incredible. I love every single one of them; they’re so friendly and welcoming, and always make an effort to chat with customers.I’d rate the bean 12/10 🤩

Been trying a new smoothie flavor every time i go, and not been disappointed so far! Used to always get the ice cream as a kid and it was always a hit, in a great location if you're looking to sit outside and enjoy your treat. Service can be slightly hit or miss and the inside seating area is small, but minor things in comparison to how good it is.
