We recently lost our beloved service dog Maggie. Dr. Sheri and Ben... All the staff were so kind and helpful making the arrangements for her and giving us time to say goodbye. It is never easy to lose a friend, but having someone who is professional and caring to guide you through it helps so much.These are people who truly care about the animals and care about their two legged friends.Thank you very much. The urn and the paw prints were beautiful.

Oriental Village Vet is one is the most compassionate, friendly and understanding clinic we have ever been to. We were visiting Oriental when our 14 year old dog who has cancer worsened and went downhill quickly. Knowing it was time to let him go, we contacted Oriental Village Vet. They got us in right away and every single staff member, from the front desk to the vet techs to the doctor, was warm, caring and incredibly kind. They went at a speed that we were comfortable with, showed love to our kiddo before he passed and even sat with him while we were settling payment. If we live in the area, Oriental Village Vet would absolutely be our regular vet.

Being new to the area we didn’t have a vet. Dr. Hicks was nice enough to work us in. The news was bad and a week later we had to put our kitty to sleep. That was a very bad experience. This office should not euthanize animals! They are not set up for it. They made the appointment on the end of the day. The office was full of barking dogs and no privacy! Dr.Hicks, perhaps overworked.She was to the point of being unkind and rude. My kitty was traumatized in his last few minutes of life. However, there is one plus in this office, EJ, Dr Hicks’ assistant who was very nice and compassionate. I would not recommend this office.

A million stars if they were available. We had a VERY sick little boy and Dr Hicks and her whole staff took EXCELLENT care of him. Compassionate & SO caring. Extremely clean facility ,test results explained & wonderful advice given!!! Cannot thank them enough for being there for us!!!!

We recently moved here and established new with this vet and our Pomeranians. The vet always seemed like she had a chip on her shoulder and we read the bad reviews about her but we figured the positive outweighs the bad reviews……. Well today I took our one for his neuter only to have the vet come out and say “is that your white truck?” He o which I replied, yes. She replied “nice truck, next time slow down in my parking lot my dogs are let out there” to which I replied ma’am I wasn’t going fast I was going very slow it’s a large truck and a small parking lot and there are people around. She replied back I’m wrong and she begs to differ, I explained she can beg to differ all she wants and that I was going slow and that she is being extremely rude speaking to her patients that way. Another gentleman in the office even stated I agree with him I was behind him and he was going slow. She continued on with a very rude attitude. I told her office at that time cancel everything with us and we will never return to their establishment. On tops of this shame on you for speaking to anyone that way especially your customers when you are wrong and others in the office even told you that you were wrong. Furthermore if you let your dogs run loose then you also need to acquaint yourself with the county leash laws. This is a vet office not a doggy playground and no place to speak as a vet/dr to your customers that way. Now I clearly understand the bad reviews for your office. I hope your doors close and we get a more caring compassionate vet in town as you clearly are not that and do not possess people skills. To also tell your customers the only way you see their pets is that we also must buy all prescriptions from you was also very off putting.

Called the office with an emergency of a stray cat that had an infected, smelly paw. Was told to bring him in right away, he had a digit amputated and was neutered all within 4 hours. I highly recommend this office to anyone. Friendly and very professional staff.

Flying out of town to go visit my sick father and was doing my doggie sitter a favor by getting her nails trimmed in case she jumps they really need it. She is one year old and we have all her shot records/spay and vet visits from Craven Animal Hospital in New Bern. Rather than drive to New Bern for a nail trimming. I called "Sherri" who answered the phone full of personality in hopes to help me maybe to get her in to get her nails done. She says "sorry we don't trim nails on dogs that aren't patients here". Well maybe we would like to be? Weird. I used to wait on this lady here in Oriental didn't like her then and def don't now. No could we schedule an appointment? Maybe get her info or records her name so she can be seen here as a patient in Oriental in the future? What's the name of the dog? Nothing! I understand you have to be a patient. But I live a 5 minute walk to her clinic. Not Oriental friendly at all. This lady is garbage it showed when I waited on her trash self in the restaurant and she clearly doesn't want any more patients nor has any customer service skills or empathy.Lovely that she loves kittens and cats but take your business elsewhere. Thanks Sheri I will get her nails trimmed and my business for my little baby elsewhere.. Garbage.

I took my boyfriends dog in for her annual visit today. Dr Hicks and her staff are very kind and understanding. The most important thing is that Dr Hicks listens to each individual concern. My hometown vet in swansboro passed away, Dr. Puitte, I miss him very much. Dr. Hicks is the most caring vet I’ve seen since Dr Puitt passed away. It’s nice to know your fur babies are in good caring hands.

We recently had to put our loving lab down after a quick illness that made his life difficult and miserable. Dr. Hicks, our normal vet was on a well deserved vacation and Dr. Morrow was there for us 100%. What a lovely, compassionate doctor! She did everything possible to help us with Guinness and improve his situation . When we made the decision to put him down, Dr. Morrow and the team were fantastic. They made an extremely difficult situation bearable. We are truly thankful for Dr. Hicks having such a compassionate replacement. Dr. Morrow was there for us for an extremely difficult time in our lives. Thank you.

I have to say your team has been the most caring and compasionate group in a vet practice I have seen in a long time. You not only took care of my "herd" 3 dogs and 3 cats with a chuckle but made us feel welcome. Then working with Dr. Hicks and Ben I had to say goodbye to one of my best friends. She was struggling at 14 and Dr. Hicks and Ben were amazing with her. No more pain for her and were just great helping her on her way to find my Dad and Mom on the other side. We take all of our pets to Doctor Hicks (and that’s saying something - we have a lot.) they are very gentle and caring as well as thorough. We have some nervous pets but they are in good hands here. They even get their nails clipped by the great people here.

My dog became very sick, very quickly. I had never used this veterinary service before. I called and explained the situation and was instructed to come in as soon as I could. They worked us into their schedule on what seemed to be a busy day. The staff were gracious and accommodating. Dr. Hicks gave a preliminary diagnosis. After some consideration, they gave my suffering friend dignified relief. They consoled me on the way out. They made a very difficult situation the best it could be.

Friday, was a day I have dreaded for awhile, as it was time to put my old friend Maggie, my beloved border collie asleep due to old age, bad hips and elbows, plus the fact that I did not want her to suffer any longer.Dr Sherry Hicks and everyone on her staff really helped Maggie take her final nap with the dignity that she so deserved, for that I am forever indebted to them and greatful, I highly recommend them.Never realized it would be this difficult but slowly everyday I realize she's running down the beach, on Hatteras Island, where she belongs, when my time comes, our ashes will be mixed together , and spread on the beach then our journey and and new adventures will commence to begin again....Thanks again for all your help,Tom Ballard
