Amazing hidden gem.Carefully crafted items you had no idea existed until you visit this little store in Ocracoke NC.They have an extensive collection of local craftsmanship and art that will leave you wanting to blow your budget.There's something for everyone and the owner was amazing and super friendly.Btw. Make sure to checkout the register if your there. Never seen anything like it before.I'd say this little shop is a must stop if you're ever in Ocracoke.

We have visited the Village Craftsmen numerous times through the years. We never miss a chance to stop by when we are in Ocracoke. And, more often that not, we make a purchase - not unusually a decorative piece to remind of of our wonderful days on the Island. I uploaded a couple of photos. One is a stained glass scene of a sunset and the lighthouses we bought from Phillip just a week ago and hung in the transom of our front door. The two bird sculptures are from two previous visits. The blue heron goes back maybe 15 or 20 years. VC has a wonderful selection of pottery and jewelry, some of which always winds up coming back to Virginia! On your must-do list for Ocracoke, a visit to the Village Craftsmen should be at the top.

A very nice craft shop loaded with jewelry, decorations, and numerous crafts sourced from artisans both locally and elsewhere in the state. Neither cheap nor expensive. Something for everybody's budget and all well made.

This place is a must go if your on Okracoke and fancy handmade gifts. The craftsmanship of thier products are second to none. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be going back next time we're on Okracoke.

I honestly think this place consistently has the best selection from local artists. Over the Moon is great too. The fact that The Village Craftsman is owned and operated by the Howard family, one of the oldest on the island, is something special.

What a really nice store with so many options at reasonable prices for what they're offering. Tucked away on a sandy side street amongst a slew of sandy side streets this place was a fantastic first stop on our day of shopping around Ocracoke. It was bustling but didn't feel crowded. The people who work here are very friendly and helpful, they also seem to know a lot of people who come by on a regular basis. Definitely worth checking out when you're in the area and we'll be sure to go back when we're around again.

My spring trip to Ocracoke Island is perfectly timed to do my Mother’s Day shopping at Village Craftsmen. The owners are just lovely, and the shop has a great selection of items crafted by North Carolina artisans. It’s real easy to spend more than you intended, but it’s only because they have so many cool things that you’ll want to take home.

This shop is a treasure to find on Ocracoke Island. I enjoyed browsing thru this shop and meeting the manager, Amy Howard, the daughter of the author and artist, Philip Howard. The selection of jewelry, items made of wood, pottery, pewter, glass, prints, art is unbelievable . The shop is on a side street across from an old cemetery. I could have spent hours at this shop. The prices are reasonable, the art selection is wonderful, and the staff are awesome. This shop is a must when you are visiting Ocracoke Island.

Very nice place! Unique and interesting. Calm clean and relaxing. Great gift ideas. Met Philip Howard (local historian and author). Don't forget to look at the "high water" marks at the entrance to the shop. I highly reccomend a visit and hope to return again soon.

The coolest shop. Very unique hand made crafts and items. They also have jewelry, soaps, and so much more. Have always had pleasant conversations with the staff here. Love running into one of the Howards here and just having a chat. Be sure to ask about the ghost and or history tour.

The shop owners are so kind, warm and welcoming. Even after hurricane dorian they're still in business. They're worth the trip and money to spend time in that shop💕

There is something for everyone from soap hand crafted on the island to pottery sourced form the NC mountains. Incredibly helpful, local, friendly staff. This is one of my favorite stores on earth, nevermind the island. The owners are the friendliest and most helpful people. Everything in the building is unique and one of a kind. Make sure to take a trip down Howard street to visit any chance you get!
