SO DELICIOUS.The fam and I got a variety of dishes for carry-out. Around 5:30 on a Wednesday the wait was still around 30 min, so definitely recommend calling in; then you can just roll up and the pick up is really quick. Big bummer is that it’s cash-only, but worth the inconvenience. The shop smells so so good and carries a variety of Thai groceries (Maesri is legit) and clothing. People working there were super nice and were able to offer some suggestions on things to order. We got the green curry (mild still has quite a kick, but super flavorful), chicken ka pow (VERY authentic Thai spice level), pad Thai, egg rolls, chicken with veggies, and chicken with broccoli. Can’t speak for the others, but green curry and ka pow were super authentic. Really like how you can specify sizes- the small is definitely good enough for one to two portions (large is gigantic, see pics), which makes it an excellent deal.I’ve had a lot of really good Thai so this isn’t the best out of all of them, but it def ranks up there. Really nice unexpected surprise.

Food is over priced. Nickel and dimes you for everything. Instead of including rice with the dish she charges extra. Illegally charging if you want to use a credit card. This is against the terms with Visa and Mastercard if you want to accept credit cards. She was rude and barks commands at you. Very very rude, better and more friendly places in the area. Avoid this place if want to have a good day.

If you’re going to go to Ocracoke, you absolutely must make time to get food here! This has been an annual trip for us over the last 10 plus years and I only wish I could eat this Thai food weekly! Call ahead and place your order because she books up fast! I posted a picture of my beautiful wife and I in front of this place! The picture is of a shrimp spring roll.

WOW was thai moon so so good. it was my first time trying thai food (except for the frozen variety), and the flavors the chef managed to incorporate were layered, exciting, and fresh. i appreciate the numerous vegan options, and loved the tofu red curry. it was warm, yet bright, and didn’t weigh me down. inquiring about ingredients was easy, as moon obviously takes care in what she puts in each dish, and is knowledgable about such. i also appreciated that you could choose your spice level. my dad really loved his ka pow chicken, denoting it as the best thai he has ever had. the menu has something for everyone, and after hearing about how much my dad and I enjoyed it, think my mom was bummed out about not trying it. support moon and go here!!

Authentic hole in the walk Thai food cooked by two little old Thai ladies in the back. This is a cash only place with no indoor seating.

Food was excellent. My husband ordered the Pad Thai and I ordered the beef with rice and red and green peppers. I would gave given her 5 stars if she was the least but friendly but she was not. I almost did not order due to her attitude but was really hungry and did not have many other options. I was not disappointed by the food though. We ate outside under the trees which was nice.

We tried this place for dinner one night after a highly-recommended tip from a relative, much to our disappointment. IMPORTANT NOTE: For DINNER in the high season, you apparently MUST make a call-in dinner cook-time reservation, way in advance. If you attempt to walk in and order dinner, you will be SOL. Not only were we SOL, but the staff who greeted us was not friendly about it in the least. We had no idea of the policy since their website was down when we checked it before going, and there was nothing on their Facebook page or door indicating this policy. Consider yourself warned. I hear they do not have this policy for lunch, but we decided to try our luck elsewhere. Too bad.

Food is good but it's a small operation. You absolutely MUST order a day in advance for dinner, and it is CASH ONLY.Those ladies hustle really hard so tip them well and don't be surprised if you may encounter a small delay. Great authentic Thai food though.

Amazing food! Great Service. In the summer months, there can be a Little wait (about an hour for us) , but that’s because it’s so dang good that everybody on the island is ordering! Also, awesome little shop Inside with cool items from Thailand!HIGHLY recommend trying anything with their peanut sauce. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water! Can’t wait to be back on my favorite island; this will be one of the first stops!

The food was excellent! Had the chicken Pad Thai and Yellow Curry. Both were delicious and they give you options as to whether you wish mild or hot. Meredith was the best! Staff were very friendly. Ate there on 6/13/2020. Call ahead. Due to social distancing safeguards they were scheduling carry out pick up times. Well worth the wait!!!

One of the best Thai restaurants in eastern NC and my favorite place on Ocracoke. It's spicy and hot and good! Contrary to a recent disgruntled reviewer it's clean as well ! And one of the few restaurants on Ocracoke Island (so yes it's busy) It's a small business on a small island. Did I mention it's spicy? 🔥 Don't let a single reviewer scare you away from our favorite restaurant on the island.

Honestly, did not expect great Thai food on a thiy island but this was a very pleasant surprise! Hub ordered, standard for him, chicken fried rice and satay. Both good, not great. I ordered Lard Nar. Wide flat noodles stir fried with broccoli and thin sliced pork (beef and chicken are options too). Traditionally with a thin gravy. It was flavors were fresh, authentic and fantastic!! Add the hot Thai chilis in vinegar and this is a MUST eat every time I visit. Yes, Moon, we will be back! Thank you for sticking with it through the pandemic and helper shortage. We appreciate you!!

Thai Moon is a place we visit ever time we come to the Outer Banks. Excellent, freshly- prepared food, The Chicken Pad Thai is the best I’ve ever eaten. We always eat on the deck next to the restaurant, in the shade of the wonderful old oaks.

Ordered the Pad Thai. Highly recommend this dish if you like a little bit of spice. Very fresh and authentic. Service was phenomenal and very polite. I will be ordering again.

Nice place with some cool gifts from Thailand and good food too especially the spicy is very authentic. Coming from someone like myself that has been to Thailand it's very comparable to a authentic restaurant you would find in Thailand. The gifts too are really from Thailand they are definitely the same style items you will see in that country. I would suggest getting the cold Thai coffee it's very good!

Mediocre at best. The Panang curry was very watery and hardly had any flavor other than HOT spice. Cash only and after I paid $50 for two curries and satay sticks I was informed that white rice was extra. Won’t be going here again.

Best Thai food I've had in years!!!! The hot is actually make you cry kind of hot and it was amazing. The veggies and overall food quality is really good and it was served piping hot. I highly recommend it and will make a point to visit again in the future.

Thai Moon is always a must-eat for my family and I while we're on the island. Ocracoke has a lot of great restaurants and Thai food is my favorite cuisine! Moon never disappoints with her fresh made dishes seasoned with herbs right from her own garden. Please do yourself a favor and visit this place! Moon is very friendly and I really like Meridith. No nonsense and pretty funny. They make a great team and really deliver on some excellent food.As a side note, I was really happy to see them open when we were there in September. Was worried that either Dorian or COVID would have caused them to be closed. I was pleasantly surprised to see her thriving and have a great system in place to still provide tasty food in a safe way!I cannot wait to eat there again next year!

Lovely little garden where I can eat the best, most authentic Thai food I have ever found in a casual setting. Oh, my, the Mussamun beef was tender and seasoned perfectly. Big, slightly sweet cooked peanuts were present in every other bite. The soups are divine and should not be missed. The chef really knows how to prepare aromatic ginger and garlic - a delicious "snap!" in those bites. Artful use of herbs....subtle and begging to be tasted. Even the often overlooked rice is neatly done. Fine grains of distinction! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because they forgot to give my son his order of chicken satay and it was too late to return. He loves it so!

Some of the best tasting Thai food I've had on the east coast !!! I have had Thai food from upper New England to southern Florida nothing comes close to these explosive flavors every bite is unbelievably good .One of the best kept secrets of Ocracoke . I look forward to this every year. The staff are kind and great to deal with they have had my business for years and years !!!

Not what it used to be? Maybe my memory is faulty, but in the past, the food was better. Our pad thai was made with too few noodles, lots of cabbage, and with odd noodles that didn’t seem like rice noodles to us. The green curry was as thin as soup. The tofu and the pork in our two orders of pad thai were good. Passible Thai food, maybe an off night; I hope I like it better next time.

Summary: Eating here puts you highly at risk for severe food poisoning/ stomach virus, the noodles are NOT GLUTEN FREE, the prices are extremely high, and the service is unreliable & rude.My dad and I ordered from this place out of desperation as we needed a gluten free and vegetarian option. From the many good reviews, we figured it was worth a chance. However, the noodles were not made of rice. Specifically the noodles used in my pad see yew dish appeared to be flat Italian egg noodles (made of wheat). Rice noodles are the standard for most Thai dishes so I gave it the benefit of the doubt. Again, I was desperate and hungry. One of the worst mistakes I've made.About 10 minutes later I was violently ill, throwing up numerous times (6+ rounds) before it stopped. Afterward the pain persisted, along with on and off chills and other symptoms. Yesterday (5/30/21) it reached the point where I needed to go to the hospital due to being unable to eat and sometimes drink without throwing up, for 4 days. The pain was so bad that I couldn't sleep. The symptoms were showing no signs of improvement before I decided to go to the emergency room. I was diagnosed with gastroenteritis, aka a stomach virus. First time I have ever been hospitalized.Today it has been 5 days since the initial incident and I am still very sick. I'm only starting to get better after seeking medical attention.I think getting sick from this restaurant was a combination of their use of gluten and most of all, their unsanitary kitchen conditions (as I have never had such a severe reaction to gluten before, despite being very sensitive).Other problems with this restaurant are its extremely high prices and its unreliable customer service. Their food quality is pretty much cheap trash with big city prices. Two extremely basic noodle dishes cost almost $40. At least in another town I can get amazing, high quality food for a lower price that also won't get me sick. Seriously disgusted with what happened here. Not to mention, we tried to eat there the day before only to find the online hours were not accurate. The next day we called over an hour and a half before their closing time and they said they were at max capacity, so not accepting any additional orders. Unfortunately for us, they changed their mind afterward and took the orders. They were also pretty rude, you could hear the lady "chef" yelling in the background, and they put us on hold for over 20 minutes for no clear reason. Plus they actually had a note on the menu or the dry erase boards that said "same day service is not guaranteed."Please take my warning to heart, this restaurant is absolutely NOT WORTH IT.It's like something out of Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, but completely unredeemable. Don't trust the good reviews, it's not worth risking your health and throwing money away. I have never once had such a horrific experience anywhere that I've had to leave a bad review. This is my genuine, honest attempt to keep others from experiencing the same fate (otherwise I wouldn't go out of my way to type out a friggin' essay lol). Thank you for reading this far.UPDATE (6/8/21): I have fully recovered now, my feelings about this place remain the same. Eating here is not worth the health risk. Especially if you are Celiac or gluten sensitive, this place is absolutely not an option.

Thai moon offers exquisitely prepared fresh exciting food on the island of Ocracoke. I have traveled extensively up and down the eastern seaboard and across the country, and I can tell you that you would have a hard time finding Thai food that is better tasting than at Thai Moon! Not to mention Moon is a lovely woman and her staff is amazing. If you get the chance to be on Ocracoke don’t pass up the opportunity to try some amazing food at Thai Moon!

For the last 8 years that I've been going to Ocracoke, Thai Moon has been my first day dinner go-to. I've migrated from the delicious chicken Pad Thai to the beef Ka-Pow and have never been happier. Which is saying something considering how great the Pad Thai is. Both types of egg rolls, drunken noodles, and Tom Kha Gai are all super popular in my family.

I can't say enough about Thai Moon, from its absolutely delicious food to its gracious, savvy service. Mostly, the food comes from Moon and the service means Meredith, mainstay at the counter and phone. She's quick, honest and professional -- and beyond being a funny human being, takes the time and the opportunity to help her customers. This time, that involved helping me with the bursitis on my knee(!) right after she fed me lunch. We've been coming to this restaurant since they opened, every time we visit Ocracoke, our meals there make it onto our calendar. Thanks, Moon and Meredith.

This place is amazing! Always a joy to come to Ocracoke and have Moon’s incredible cooking. Great service and friendly staff too! Worth a trip on the ferry to eat here. Ocracoke is lucky to have them! I highly recommend the Tom Yum and the fish curry.
