We live in Kill Devil Hills and would definitely stay here again. The rooms were really clean and updated. Our elderly greyhound was very comfortable too. Meredith was such a nice and positive person and very helpful! The location was prime and the hotel has access to the dock at the old Jolly Roger - great for fishing! A magical weekend. The only reason I would have given the suite a 4 star was because some of the artwork, decor and furniture placement could have been better and one coat rack was falling apart - but really not even worth taking off a star for the price and location, so I didnt. I included some views from our deck!Walkability: So many great places to walk or bike to! We love going to springers point. Rented bikes at the ice cream shop next door.

We stayed at the Silver Lake for the first time this summer actually it was our first time in Ocracoke. I am beyond words how please I was with this place. Our room was a two bed suite with an amazing water view. It was very spacious and very clean. Meredith was incredibly and made sure to supply me with whatever I needed. There was live music on the docks right across the motel just for silver lake guest only. It was spectacular listening to music and looking at the sunset. We will definitely be coming back.

From the time we checked in until the time we checked out Meredith was top notch. We had to extend 2 extra days due to the ferry not running and she was amazing and left us in our same room. Room was very clean and the prices were amazing. This motel and inn is very pet friendly and welcoming of my dog. I will come back again. I look forward to my next visit and staying here.Walkability: So close to everything! Easily walkable to almost everywhere in the village.

The rooms were very clean and the service was great. This is a very laid back spot and walking distance from most places. There is a ton of parking for cars and/or golf carts. We enjoyed our stay and the Meredith was amazing. The walls are thin and the place is a bit older but that should be expected when visiting the historic island of Ocracoke! Definitely recommend this place for groups of 1-4 people. Enjoy!

After eyeing Ocracoke Island in the off-season for some time, the Silver Lake Motel and Inn fit the bill for a cozy, quiet, pet friendly place for my Lab and I to stay our first time. I had a great view, clean room, comfortable bed and most accommodating host.Big changes and renovations going to upgrade the property. The owner Meredith is an island gem of resource on where to go and what to experience while on the island and in the village. She and her staff went above and beyond to make for a great stay for my dog and I to say the least. I was never without fresh coffee, a great nights sleep and the perfect atmosphere for a most relaxing getaway. I actually ended up staying an extra night because of this and plan to re-visit!

Great people just add to the classic charm of this place. Has such a comfy, old maritime feeling to it with the dark wood decor and local art work in the rooms. Meredith made the family feel welcome, our twins especially so. Great coffee every morning, too (how do you make Maxwell House taste that good???).Nearby activities: Everything you could possibly need within walking distance.

I visited Ocracoke Island just as everything was opening up for the summer (April 1st-6th) and let me say I had a great time! Staying at Silver Lake Motel was perfect for just me. The room was a little on the rustic side and could have had a little more better lighting but for the price and location I could not have asked for anything more! I did not need anything to fancy. The room was clean and just what I needed the moment I arrived. (Meredith the owner did say she was starting the process of updating some things in the motel side but it was taking some time due to various things.) The day I arrived my ferry was canceled from Swan Quarters adding another 2 hours to my already long drive. I got on a Hatteras Ferry by the skin of my teeth due to really heavy wind cancelling later ferries. Meredith was so nice and understanding about me coming in late and said my room would be ready with the light on and it was. The room had comfortable beds and towels and washcloths were provided. During my stay the room was not cleaned everyday but that was ok with me. Meredith did say if I would like her to come in and sweep/vacuum the room she would be more than happy to do so and also provide more towels if I would like. As a lady staying at the motel by myself Meredith made my stay on the island fell so much more safer. She said she had my back if I ever need anything. On my last day Meredith showed me one of the inn rooms and it looked really nice! Everything in the place looked updated and very roomy with a nice kitchen and balcony overlooking Silver Lake. I would definitely consider staying at Silver Lake Motel and Inn the next time I am on the island.Safety: As a lady staying at the motel by myself Meredith made my stay very safe. If I ever felt like I need to be escorted to my room at night from my car I bet she would not have had a problem coming to help. The location felt very safe.Walkability: Silver Lake Motel and Inn is right on the main road overlooking Silver Lake. That makes it in a great place to walk to most everything.

We had a wonderful stay at silver lake motel this week! Meredith went above and beyond to take care of us and make sure we had everything we needed! It was super clean, and when we first walked into our one bedroom suite I was amazed because it was SO much bigger than I had anticipated from the pictures online. I mean we had so much room and everything we needed as far as a kitchen. Would 10/10 recommend staying there. We stayed years back before it was damaged by the store and closed down. You can tell the owner is putting heart and soul into making it a beautiful place and it shows in the dedication to hospitality. The view from our balcony was gorgeous too we loved seeing the boats on the harbor all day and the sunset’s were breath taking 😍

I stayed here for my best friend's wedding in August and I couldn't have been more pleased! All the rooms in our suite were clean, cozy, and close to everything! Meredith went above and beyond for the bride, groom, and all their guests the entire weekend! We had such a wonderful time we decided to stay an extra night and they were so accommodating in changing the reservation to enjoy an extra day. I will most certainly be coming back!!I also forgot my favorite dress (my own fault) and Meredith was kind enough to not only keep it safe but ship it back to me!

We had an amazing time at Silver Lake Inn. Meredith was absolutely fantastic - a great host. We stayed in the suite on the top floor and the place was immaculate. The views of the lake, especially at sunset, are beautiful. We will definitely be back.Walkability: Close to everything!

We have stayed at Silver Lake multiple times now, and it is one of my favorite places on the island. The owner and staff are incredibly nice, friendly, helpful, and accommodating. You can tell they truly care about the property, and the experience of those who come to stay there. The views of the harbor are fantastic, and you won't find a prettier sunset spot anywhere on the island. You can also see the lighthouse across the harbor, which is a huge bonus. I will always recommend this place to everyone.

I stayed in the suite at Silver Lake and it was exactly what I needed! Silver lake is a perfect central location on the island to many stores and restaurants. The view is spectacular right across from Silver Lake Harbor and I really enjoyed the evening sunsets. There was plenty of space in the suite and a full fridge/freezer along with a stove and oven so I was able to cook, which was very important to me. I was treated very well while I was there and would recommend if you're looking for a nice relaxation trip to Ocracoke!

Overpriced and no amenities.The room was old and dated. They say there’s coffee available but not really. Only coffee available is at motel operator’s convenience. We have a pet, so our room had no view and was NOT that clean. We were never offered fresh towels. There were no courtesy cups to rinse your mouth. It was not worth the $$ spent, camping would have been way nicer. Be aware …. It’s unfortunate most places are not pet friendly. I’ll never stay here again.

The room was charming and clean. A few doors down had a view of the lighthouse. The staff were all very pleasant. The room had a fridge, a bed and a very old TV. All of which would’ve been livable if the bed were anything at all resembling comfortable. I’ve been home a few days and still recovering. If they update the beds in this place it definitely warrants a higher star rating.

We snuck away for a quick trip for our anniversary. They were very accommodating. The room was wonderful - we had the sunset suite! Cannot wait to come back and stay with them again!!Rooms: The sunset suite has two private decks overlooking the harbor with breathtaking views of the sunset. The bed was comfortable and the room was thoughtfully arranged.Walkability: Ocracoke is a small village and the Inn at Silver Lake is centrally located and close to everything.

The cleanliness was very good. The staff was helpful and friendly. If you aren't afraid of funky rooms, this is OK. The mattresses in one room we stayed in were springy and beyond dated. The toilet was off kilter and came almost undone when we sat on it. The other furnishings and appliances were also old - very "rustic" indeed! A small fridge is the only appliance. Wouldn't stay there again.

Exactly what you need for a perfect time on Ocracoke!! Fantastic AC, comfy bed, super close to everything in the village, and the best part of all is the staff. Meredith is so kind, helpful, and you can tell she really cares about the guests who stay here. She’s so attentive and works around the clock to meet her guest’s needs.
