We signed up for a paddle board yoga session with Savannah and it was a great experience. Definitely the highlight of the trip. She was a great instructor and tailored the session to our skill level. She even took photos of us during the session so we could walk away with a memory of the experience. We also rented kayaks and paddle boards with Ride the Wind and it was a wonderful experience. Everyone was friendly, accommodating and provided us with great equipment. Highly recommend!!

We rent kayaks here every year we visit. You can take the kayaks with you or launch from their dock on Silver Lake. This year Rachel York took care of our rental paperwork and was a pleasure to work with. Highly recommend Ride the Wind Surf Shop.

What a great experience my parents had with this company. They delivered the kayaks before my parents arrived. All of the kayaks were well maintained and worked great. My parents were able to leave the kayaks at the rental and they came and picked up the kayaks after my parents had already left. Talk about great customer service and such a convenience for vacationers. Highly recommend.

Exceptional service in the store and with kayaks. Very fair and reasonable prices. Worked with us to help us not only find where to kayak but gave us recommendations and even picked up/delivered for us and helped us adjust our schedule and cost when there was unexpected windy weather. This is what customer service is. Right here. Amazing. The kayaks themselves were comfortable and easy to maneuver! Highly, highly recommend.Tip: no tours in off peak season right now due to staff shortage but can recommend and drop off easy enough! I prefer being more independent and not with a tour so I loved the trust and flexibility they offered me.

This is an excellent, locally owned surf shop with all the latest trendy styles of clothing and footwear, not to mention the surf & skate boards, if you enjoy that type of recreation. The staff is always friendly and the product is NOT up priced just because it is a vacation spot. For my family, some of the best shopping on the island and worth a visit whether in town for a day or a week.

We love visiting Ocracoke. We went in May this year and this place just left a bad taste in my mouth. I’m an oblivious person most of the time. It didn’t dawn on me until we were outside and I mentioned it to my husband that I kept seeing a young brunette girl follow us upstairs and downstairs. Everywhere we went she was right there. He noticed alright but didn’t say anything. She was even outside when we were at our golf cart. I took my time putting on the anklet bracelet we bought for our daughter from there (which I regret now). Will not be visiting this store again. Word of advice, if you want to follow someone around please be more discreet.

Up stairs employee very rude! Went out of his way to follow us around and make us feel very uncomfortable. Would have made a sale if not for him. Experience was horrible and family felt attacked. Do not recommend.

An excellent selection for men and women for mid-range price points. We came here in October and they had 40% off all swim wear which was conveniently what we went there for. The store had a very island style surf shop vibe to it. I’d go back here for sure

We took a guided Sunset Kayak Tour as a large family, along with others who signed up. This was possibly the best part of our weeklong stay on the Island! Incredibly peaceful, perfect for all skill levels, informational and education, great for all ages, this tour was perfect!

Bought the wrong sized sandals. Didnt realize it till we got home. Ride The Wind was totally chill and let me mail them back for an exchange. They expressed mailed the right size back super quick! Always buy my gear here when I come by. Love this place ❤️

While on vacation, I participated in a Mid-Day Eco Kayak tour of Ocracoke with a guide from the surf shop. Our group of 3 was coming over from Hatteras and even though our ferry left an hour late, the guide was able to wait for us to start the tour. Our guide, a young lady, was very friendly and knowledgable on the area and the ecology of the island. She also was very experienced on the water and I felt safe out in the sound with her leading us. I feel that we definitely got our money's worth and would recommend this trip to everyone who is looking to see a different side of the island.

We took the full moon tour but it started at 7pm so we got to see both the sunset and the moon. It was an awesome experience. The tour lasted for two hours. All the guides- Bobb, Caroline and Jessie were very nice and informative. It was a fun ride.

Rent kayaks there every year when we visit the island!!! Actually bought the one we rented last year!!! Really nice people tat work there! The owner is great! When you rent kayaks they hand them in the water ready for you every day! Love this place!!!💕💕💕

Worst customer service I've experienced in a while. I've seen other reviews on here in regards to a rude employee. Sounds like you should cut your losses and fire them before you keep losing more customers. Definitely won't be coming back.

Excellent little surf shop down near the water in Ocracoke. As you're going down the main drag from the ferry's it's basically the last stop on the left before you turn to the right and head into the main downtown area of the island. I picked up a cool pirate flag themed shirt here on my last visit to the island.

RTW has it all figured out; there's really nothing else to say. They offer best-of-the-best gear (boards, kayaks, and miscellaneous beach toys) for rent and sale, and they do it through energetic, knowledgeable staff, making it accessible to virtually everyone, regardless of age or experience level. If you have an Ocracoke adventure in mind (or even if you don't), just stop by the shop. you'll be glad you did.
