Such a great place to stay! Located in the best location, within walking distance to so much. Views were gorgeous from our room and we spent an afternoon just sitting on the porch in the sun while our toddler napped. We had full access to the living room space and kitchen, while she slept in the bedroom. Perfect family getaway. We loved our stay and would recommend it to everyone, especially those with toddlers and babies who might be nervous about accommodations. The banker pony suite was perfect! You can't get more authentic Ocracoke than the Pony Island Inn.

Nice comfortable no frills hotel on the island. Very polite and considerate owners. Location is on the main road so no view of the ocean. Walking distance to a lot of restaurants. They upgraded our room so that family can all be on the same floor without a additional charge. Going above and beyond. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Ice was available on the ground floor. Free parking. Restaurant next door is great for breakfast. Will stay here again on our next trip for sure.

What a gem! Absolutely the cleanest rooms I have ever stayed in! There is a tram stop right next to the hotel, so you can hop on and hop off while you explore the island. The location is great, and the pool was very pleasant. The staff was very sweet and kind. We stumbled onto the inn because our campsite was flooded- we’re planning a trip back because we enjoyed the inn so much!

We absolutely love this place. It was our first time here. The staff was so friendly and nice. Beautiful pool, and close to so many things to see and do. Already planning another trip, and will definitely stay here again. The restaurant next door was so convenient with good prices, great food, and excellent customer service.Rooms: Room was very clean and looked like it had just been updated. Nice bathroom and comfy bed.Nearby activities: Plenty to see and do. Free tram stop just in front or golf cart rentals available.Safety: Seemed to be a safe place to be and very quiet at night.Walkability: Many places to explore nearby. If you have difficulty walking, free tram and golf cart rentals are available.Food & drinks: Pony Island Restaurant next door serves an excellent breakfast with good prices and excellent service.Noteworthy details: I can't give one negative about the motel and restaurant. Everything and everyone from making the reservation call to checkout was incredible. This is a place you won't want to miss.

Not too bad for a small hotel. Check-in 3pm, check-out 11am. Free wi-fi. It's within walking distance to a few shops and a trolley stop. The room was adequate for the 3 of us and the AC/fan was ok, even though there was something wrong with the condenser pipe and it was dripping water a bit on the floor in our room. The room smelled a bit musty and wet towels or bathing suits don't dry out at all in the rooms. The beds had soft mattresses. I'm glad there was a railing outside the rooms where we could put towels and suits out to dry in the hot sun. The pool is nice, and the next door restaurant for breakfast was fast and friendly, although pricey for what you get, like most places here are. The walls of the rooms seemed nice and thick so we didn't hear our neighbors, so that was a plus, and the quiet hours are from 9pm-8am which was much appreciated. The parking is a bit tight. We have a small car and had to back out of the parking lot since there was no room to turn around in our section. They also have spots for golf cart parking and rent bikes, too. A word of warning: like most places on the island, the salt marsh mosquitoes are relentless at night, so forget trying to sit out at the chairs at night unless you are doused in repellant. Overall, we would stay here again if we come back.

Wonderful hotel better a Hampton Inn in many small towns if you know what I mean… housekeeping service is very good, front desk very friendly, great location. Love the windows on both side of the room and a sink in the room.Food & drinks: A restaurant in the hotel offers breakfast except for Tuesday.

This place is a scam. Rented a room for one night, when I got into the room the shower was running and there were broken things in the bath tub. The water never got hot.We had a group of people next to us partying in the parking lot and they trashed the walkway in front of our room and the hotel did nothing about it, we ended up cleaning it.And to top it all of they charged me a smoking fee when no on in my group smokes.When I called to try to resolve it they were extremely unhelpful and snobby about the situation and refused to work with me.

A very nice place to stay. The D/D/S room was spacious and clean. Adequate number of towels were left in the room. Thick curtains covered all the windows. The courtyard was a very welcoming area to bbq. The Inn is close to beach access and a lovely area to stay. Staff was friendly and efficient.Steps are required for a number of rooms so if you have mobility needs, please request accommodation. Tub was a bit slippery when wet, so if staff is reading this, please add safety strips.

Stayed in simple but clean 2 double bed room with fridge and microwave. Ceiling fan in room was a nice touch, AC was cold. Bathroom super clean, water hot! Housekeeping did a great job everyday. Grounds were well kept and quiet. Large sized pool that was also very clean. Location was excellent and close to everything. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Ocracoke!

This establishment saved my Ocracoke experience from being a complete disaster. My husband and I arrived in Ocracoke with our 4 year old around 6:45pm and had planned to camp on the national park service Campground and had picked a site next to the bathroom. Unbeknownst to us, that bathroom was closed for the season. We left to try another Campground and were swarmed by mosquitos covering our car inside and out!! I have never seen so many mosquitos in my life! Like a black cloud! We drove around to 3 other hotels and called places with no one picking up the phone or no one at front desks. We stopped at Pony Island Inn just in time before the wonderful gentleman working the front desk closed up. Roger was so nice and stayed late to get us checked in to a room for the night. I would say his service was above and beyond and I am so grateful. The room was VERY clean and comfortable. Thank you !!!!

The best, most cordial place we have found. During our 54 years of married life the wife & I have stayed in many different places as we traveled. Pony Island Inn in Ocracoke is the best yet! To say that it exceeded our expectations is a vast understatement. Grayson,Kim & the Staff went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay!

Stayed here for a night in the off-season just to get away. Staff was friendly amd the room was clean. Not much in the way off amenities; the TV was very low quality and we couldn't find extra blankets. The bathroom was nice and had plenty of hot water. Location is great, but don't expect much open if you're here before April / May.

The motel was older but very clean. The room was quite large with a big kitchen counter but no amenities what so ever except for a very tiny bar of soap in the bathroom - not even a paper towel in the kitchen. Bed and sofa bed (no sheets?) were comfortable. Staff was helpful and accommodating.

We spent a wonderful day in Ocracoke...and spent the night at the Pony Island Motel. With a bias against anything called a 'motel', we were concerned...but wow, we were so happy with the manager who checked us in and the facility itself. A recent hurricane had apparently flooded the first floor, where I stayed with 2 adult kids traveling with me. So everything was brand new and very nice! We enjoyed our stay and our only regret is the shortness of the stay! We will be back, hopefully soon!

We enjoyed our stay! Pool was great for my grandson, everybody friendly. Room was clean... simple but plenty big enough for the 3 of us. One afternoon we were resting in the room and heard a "tic, tic, tic"... the light over the bed was dripping water -almost pouring onto the bed! I quickly contacted the office and within moments, they were there and investigating. Found the source upstairs (a leaky jacuzzi) and got it stopped. They swapped the bedding and mattress and insured it was stopped, and even offered the empty next room for us to sleep in, but we didn't have to. David's response and concern was excellent and appreciated! Quick and thorough. Even checked back with us the next morning to be sure. We love Ocracoke and this was our first stay at Pony Island. We'll come back!

Great docks to fish on not too far down the road. We brought our boat and fished the sound.Lots of places to go on the beach. Public and some we just parked in the side of the road and climbed across the dunes.Best shell hunting i have ever done with my children.The motel was nice. Staff and guest were all very friendly! There is no coffee pot in the room so we brought our own.Local restaurants with great food!

This is a nice and very clean hotel. I enjoyed staying here. We needed a last minute room when we arrived and they were able to get us a room for the night! I would definitely stay again. Only a 5 minute drive down to the swimming beach. And a short walk to the harbor. A great choice for sure!
