We went after Mardi Gras by the Sea. It was WAY too crowded. Beer and Wine is overpriced compared to other establishments. Nothing special but OK.

On my first real visit to the Oak Island area and I stumbled on to the Grape and Ale on a cold Sunday afternoon. I saw they had tables outside which worked great given I had my dog along. Turns out they are dog friendly and eventually, after enjoying a beer outside, was able to go inside and enjoy warmer temps, company for my pooch, some good beer and very friendly patrons and staff. I got to meet the owners of the "Ale" side and they were absolutely wonderful, welcoming and friendly. I can't wait to go back when the weather is warmer. The beer was excellent, the wine selection looks equally wonderful and the vibe is so incredibly comfortable. I hope to make this a regular stop on my ever increasing trips to Oak Island.

Desi and Joe are wonderful and so knowledgeable about wines! This is my go to place for wine. They also have a great value wine club. You join for a small monthly fee and get two great bottles of wine.

What a gem! Wanted to visit while vacationing on Oak Island, and ALMOST didn’t! Decided to make a stop in on our last day….SO glad we did! Charming, clean, relaxing….and the staff was incredible. Next trip, it will be our FIRST stop! Support local, and keep supporting each other!

Two friends discovered this spot while we were visiting the area; they sent my husband and I over. It's just charming and well-stocked. The owners were very friendly; we chatted for awhile about everything, including of course wine! They were very knowledgable and able to suggest vintages in any price range. They're very pup friendly; their dog, Napa, is part of the crew.

We loved frequenting the grape and ale and were regulars for 5 years. Then unfortunately Jamie sold the business and now it isn't the same. The air of haughtiness is off putting, and we are treated as just another customer. There is no personality in the new owners. Just people out to make a buck. It is a real shame.

Quaint shop with an excellent selection of quality wines and beers. Everyone was friendly and helpful and I appreciated all the recommendations. Bring your dog and enjoy a drink on the cute patio. Def try to catch their beer tasting on Thursday evenings, too.

First time that I have been there. Great place!Someone I met a few weeks ago recommended. I was joined by my sister and brother in law. We all will go back. Probably will enroll in beer club. Really good job by Jim and Candace. Not criticizing other places but best crowd of any I have been around since moving here in late March.

Stopped in this weekend for the first time. Absolutely loved the shop, it's bigger than it appears from the outside. Lots of great craft beer selections, i'd argue the best in cape fear area. I was able to find some unexpected beers that i can't find in the Charlotte area and also though that things were modestly priced. This will be my go-to spot to pick up beers and wine when we're back on the island.

Great place for wine and craft beer. Lorraine runs the ale side and has 10 craft beers on tap and many more in bottle and can all refrigerated. Jamie and Candace run the wine side and they have a lot of knowledge when it comes to wine. Great place!

The Grape and Ale is a fun little shop with a lot of heart. We stopped in on a Thursday night they were offering five beers at a free tasting area and a food truck. They actually offer some of the best craft beers available here. The owner knows what he's buying. Don't bother stopping here for a grocery store beer. These are real beers, with real flavor. They're offering KBS, Bravo, and other sought after beers to go with the food truck offerings.This is a must stop when you're on the island.

Thursdays are free beer tasting, Fridays are free wine tastings, 5:30, they get packed...good wines selections...🍷not the cheapest place you will find certain selections but when you are on vacay, it's good to know you can find a favorite you may have run dry on

Best beer (and wine) selection in the Cape Fear region. I joined the 6 pack club when I moved here and have enjoyed the monthly selections. Jamie is very knowledgeable of every beer and wine on the shelf.

Horrible, rude service....walked in to buy some wine on a Sunday at 5pm & was told " we are closed & you have to leave". Oddly the place was pretty full & there were no closed signs. I questioned this & was told it was a private event for wine club members only. I can understand this but the woman was very rude & suggested we go sit and relax at the beach or at the "Islander"....She did allow us to purchase 2 bottles of wine that she literally pushed across the counter at us ....

Very cool little wine/beer store right on Oak Island. If you want good wine, this is the only place to get it here. Huge selection, and the owner is really knowledgeable. Great beer selection too.
