I just moved to the area a week ago and I appreciated OKI Animal Hospital working me and my dog into their busy schedule even though we weren’t established patients. Bolt was feeling puny and I was unsure why. They have a no nonsense approach but are also compassionate. This will be my new animal hospital!

First time visit as a meet and greet moving to OKI from Virginia. Super easy to make an appointment and the customer service was excellent. Very friendly staff and Dr. Lyne was great with Luke and Pebbles. Excited about having y’all to work with our pets. Thanks for being so supportive and welcoming.

We had our 1st appointment for our new 12 week old Yorkie yesterday! I was very impressed with the entire staff! Dr. Lyne was great with our Matty! Matty had his 1st full vet check, a fecal check, complete exam, all his 12 week vaccinations along with a Bordetella vaccine, was given his dewormer again as well as treated with preventative against fleas, ticks etc… Dr Lyne even trimmed Marty’s nails for us! Not only were we extremely impressed with their care for our small new puppy but we were amazed at how reasonable the total cost of all that was! We have an older Yorkiepom we had previously taken to Brunswick and not only were their fees outrageous but they always wanted to do extra unnecessary tests to drive up the price of her visits! We will be switching our older Yorkiepom to Oak Island Animal as well since we were so happy & satisfied! They were able to get Matty on their schedule quickly which is something we always had extreme difficulty with when we were using Brunswick as well! I’m highly recommend Oak Island for all your Veterinary needs! 💯

Love these guys! Everyone is so nice and helpful and patient. I never feel like I’m a bother, or inconvenience here. It is very welcoming! And their prices seem to be in line with other local vets. Also incredibly convenient to be on the island where I live! Definitely recommend!

The vet was wonderful with my very anxious 3 yr old pup. By the end of the visit, she ( and I) was putty in their hands. We felt cared for, loved, and safe!!! Thanks loads- we’ll be back! And I really appreciate your sending the updated shot info to our boarding facility!

We trust in Dr Lynes skill. He really cares about our pets well being. We will always follow his advice to the letter. The front desk staff at OI is wonderful. So caring, friendly and helpful. They are the best veterinary staff I have ever encountered.

So Happy to meet Dr Lyne. He was informative, patient, and relaxed.I’m not sure though that the staff has enough training to realize stressed, anxious dogs are NOT VICIOUS dogs. My Pit is loving, happy, rambunctious, but NOT aggressive. One has to remember he’s surrounded by unfamiliar people in a very small space. Suggestion: don’t congregate in the hallway and expect a animal to be relaxed 😎

Loved when Dr King was there. And love the staff!!! My son took in a stray that just had kittens about 3 weeks ago and she had a prolapsed rectum. This new dr wouldn't even take her out of the crate! Found a great Dr who is trying everything they can to save her. Oh and by the way this Dr charged me $112 to give her a little amoxicillan.....never again!!

I'm not one to post negative things but I feel like others should know my wife and daughters experience. The first part of this is our dog has had miserable nights with itching. We brought her to the vet and all they did was give us prednisone for a week and said it will clear up. This never cleared up and wanted to go back and have her seen again. I took our dog to new vet and our dog is being taken care of very well and she seems so happy now. But the heartbreaking issue is our cat we rescued 12 years ago started a cough. We got her into this vet for a late day appointment and hear them talking about ready to go home. With the research I looked up her symptoms made us believe heart failure. The vet looked at her checked her heart beat. They told my 15 year old daughter that her cat was going to be just fine. This made us so happy that she was going to be OK. They gave her a steroid and sent her on her way. That evening we were so relieved and 24 hours later she couldn't breathe very well anymore so we had to get her to a emergency vet late at night and it was all signs of heart failure and now she sits on our shelf in a urn. We informed this vet on OAK Island and they said there branch manager will call us. It's been over 3 weeks and heard nothing back so we showed up. They pulled my wife to back room so it was not in front of other customers and we wanted a refund for the visit and was rudely told that these things happen. Hopefully nobody will have to experience our experience with this vet.

Our dogs have been patients since 2018 and we have had nothing but exceptional experiences. It all started when the late Dr. King met us to put our beloved dog down. We weren’t even patients then and it was during a hurricane! We drive from downtown Southport to see them 😊

Everyone there was great! I’m from out of town (New York) and my dog needed to be seen. They got me right in and took great care of my dog. The vet explained everything through out the exam! I highly recommend this place!!

Highly recommend OKI Animal Hospital. Made an appt online for my Lab who is prone to ear infections. First time using this clinic since we moved here. Staff was very efficient and got us back to see Dr Lyne very quickly. Dr Lyne quickly diagnosed the problem and had his assistant draw up the appropriate medication which he put in her ears. All this was done in a manner that left me with complete confidence that they know what they are doing. Loved my Vet at my previous location and have found a new home for my Lab’s care here.

I took english mastiff to be seen today, who has been seen at this clinic before, due to sensitive skin issues along with him always scratching his ears. my dog gets anxious easily and because of his size, people tend to be scared of him. but he is so sweet and kind, just a big baby. when the vet called us back he had a majority of the staff in the hallway with him. didn't take us in an exam room. the vet instructed us to walk circles around him for my dog to get used to him, but Bruno was still anxious (especially with the many employees crowded & watching us). he growled again, not showing his teeth. i attempted to show the vet the dry patches on Bruno's skin and his ears, the vet didn't even attempt to touch my dog but stated "I've seen enough." he then instructed me to stand out in the hallway while he went in a exam room and couldn't even talk to me face-to-face. sent us home with steroids and antibiotics. the staff had us walk out the side door. when i asked if the clinic ever deals with bigger dog breeds an employee told me "yes but he's aggressive". my dog barked and growled without showing his teeth because he was scared and anxious and we didn't get any support. when i checked out, the same woman that called my dog "aggressive" pulled me aside and wrote down a dog trainers information to give to me. i was so upset because of the way we were treated. the only positive thing is the medication provided to help ease Bruno's discomfort. if a vet clinic can't provide the emotional support for a nervous pet/deal with bigger breeds then it would be a good idea to mention that on the website or over the phone.

Very appreciative of the kindness and care by the entire staff and Dr. Jones for urgently seeing my handicapped little gal. She only has one 'good leg' and had injured a nail on the foot of that leg which could have become worse/painful without care. They worked her in and we are very grateful.

Good vet and staff. I feel a little rushed with the dr esp when I bring 2 of my pups in that it makes me forget all the questions I want to ask.We LOVE OIAH and we plan to stay until we run out of pups which will be never, lol.They are compassionate and i like them🐶🐶🐶🐶

I had an emergency with my 3 month old pup (Prince) he was vomiting and had diarrhea and would not eat and every time he drank water he threw up, so I called OKI they got us in same day, however when we got there the vet took my baby back I walked back also, and he began checking him, now my pup was not running a temp, and has had all his vaccines especially parvo/distemper I let the vet know this and he did a rectal exam said there was blood in my pups stool which was a first to me and I told him that, he immediately said let’s do a parvo test nothing else, no other test was given he made me go outside would not let me go back with my pup, came out 10-15 minutes later and said it was parvo, I asked if he was sure due to the fact that my pup has had all his shots and has not been anywhere he could have gotten it, now I have had a dog with parvo it’s the saddest thing to watch, however this vet began pushing uthanization on me and I refused, I asked about treatment he told me I would have to bring him back three days in a row at a cost of almost $500 I told him I could not afford that, I asked for antibiotics I could take home he told me I was “pissing in the wind” exact words from this vet he went back inside brought out the shots and I paid, now I took my pup home with thoughts that it was parvo so my husband and I took every precaution due to us having other dogs and puppies. Now I treated my pup with these antibiotics today is the third day, my pup is back to his old self no more vomiting, no more diarrhea and is able to eat and drink on his own, he is jumping around and playful. I dont appreciate that vet not even wanting to do any other further tests, and when they said they tested my pup they would not allow me to be present which concerned me, I don’t think that he actually tested my pup like he said I feel like he had his mind made up and just gave up on testing him, now after he asked me about uthanizing my pup I immediately told him no absolutely not an option, now after I told him this he went back inside and came back out 10mins later and again mentioned uthanizing my pup several times after I made it clear that was not an option for me, which I’m glad I made the decision I did because my pup is back to his happy playful loving self!I just want to point this experience out that me and my pup had! If your animal is sick do your research of the symptoms, and make sure it matches up with what the vet tells you!

I called in the morning to make a sick appointment for my dog. They were able to get her in. I was in and out in 20 minutes with all the medicines I needed to make her feel all better. The staff was friendly and helpful from phone call to when I walked out the door.

Quick visit to see Dr Lyne with 11 yr old cat who started biting his back end and tail. After exam Dr L heard a heart murmur and suggested a conservative plan of prescribing a powder to help with the situation. The powder did the trick!The staff was warm and welcoming. The office waiting area was clean. I’m new to the area and feel like Oak Island Animal Hospital is perfect for me and my fur babies.

I had always used Dr King in the past! I knew he had hired Dr. Jones and was sad to learn of Dr. King’s death! Because Dr. King would NEVER have hired Dr Jones if he was not up to the standard that Dr King himself set, I am also comfortable that Dr. Lyte is now on board! I drive 15 hours each way to bring my little Yorkie, Myia , for her checkups ! If my little Myia needed an emergency check, I would call & see if Dr Jones or Dr. Lyte had a recommendation for a Vet here in Florida! If not, I would find a Vet here & when Myia was up to traveling, I would bring her back up to the beach house on Oak Island & ask for Dr.Jones or Dr. Lyte to check her! I had taken my dog, my best friend, to the er veterinarian they treated half of the issue, and mind you she came in limping,as I said before she had 2 issues and I do understand that her heavy breathing was a major problem, however ever they never even looked at her left leg and it was extremely painful for her, I called oak island veterinarian 's and we got there and Dr. Lyne put her on the scale to get her weight looked down and said she has hyper extended her left leg, he prescribed medication and he invited me to view her x-rays and explained everything to me, the er vet said maybe I should put her down I was so hysterical I am so glad we chose this practice and if they ever need me to make a statement, I truly believe this practice is #1 in the area and I will never go any where else, Thank you Dr Lyne and the entire staff they were very awesome as well, and I know I have more time with my baby dog, Thanks again.
