I was once a worker there, for 3 DAYS! After waiting almost a month to get hired. Was told that they had to pull some tough strings to get me on the team and was also thrilled to have me on the team. My first day, yeah it was my mistake being on the phone for a minute, didn’t hear nothing bad bout my 2nd day: but my 3rd I was literally on my hands and knees wiping down the countertop at the registers, while dealing with customers, and barely had time to go out side to hit my vape for just a moment. I made sure to put customers first. The next morning my ex mother in law comes and ask the manager who I been doing with my job and the manager automatically told her that she took me off the schedule, so instead of letting me know herself like she did the 1st night I worked the next day with a group text; she took it upon herself to tell someone who isn’t direct family anymore to come and tell me instead of her telling me herself and all because of the bathroom not being done which the assistant manager I worked with that night told me “make sure toilet paper, paper towels are in the restrooms andTo mop and sweep them as well, don’t worry bout nothing else”. So because of the unprofessionalism but explosion, personal information to a non-worker about my business, and also not having enough decency to let me know myself that they have took me off the schedule, I decided to just quit. They said they don’t treat their employees different than the others but I was only there three days and any other place that I work that can tell you I’m a good worker. They are all about time and trying to get to the number one spot they don’t care about giving somebody a second chance, or appreciate what you do as a worker there they’re lucky I’ve gave two stars cause I really love the job and disappointed on how things had to end. No hard feelings. Corporate will hear about this as well.

Store is clean, well organized, the whole place looks amazing. Easy to get down the isles, shelves are stocked. Every one that works there greets you, very friendly and helpful.

The store manager there needs to be replaced. She’s all the time out there smoking at the front doors and giving her kids bags of food which I overheard her saying “they are going to throw it away anyways” I hope this company know she’s stealing from them regardless if they were going to throw it away or not. I will not shop here again until they replace their rude manager

What an amazing store the new store manager has made great changes to accommodate the elderly cleaning up the store front to back and there is no employee outside smoking anymore Brenda you are making remarkable progress keep up the great work

Normally, everyone there is awesome. I shopped tonight, and there was a lot of confusion with another customer's card. They did not bag all of my items. When I realized it, I called. It was 9:55 when I called, and they said if I hurried I could get my item. I arrived at their door at 10 sharp, with customers still inside and they refused to give me my items. I'll continue to shop there, but I feel it was wrong of them. I manage another local business, and have helped them out on numerous occasions, and I felt like they treated me like a criminal.

Very polite cashier and other employees. Asked if I needed help and helped me find what I needed. A lot of people stocking shelves. My only negative is that the setup is such close quarters there's not a lot of space for people to shop.

Went before the hurricane got here so was extremely crowded because most stores were closed. Had only one person working but she was extremely nice and positive. But the store had a lot to choose from.

Management was awesome. She's very friendly and helpful to every customer that came in... store was very clean and in order in the midst of stocking shelves that were already well stocked.

Employees are down to earth, polite, and courteous. But....it is hotter than 40 #=[[$ inside the store. Employees say the A/C has been broke for two years. I would think a national chain like this whom by the way spends millions of $$$ in ads, opening new stores less than 10 miles apart from each other, not to mention has a major sponsorship on the NASCAR circuit could at least afford to fix the air condition. If not for the employees then for the customer. I have also been in the store when I'm guessing a District Manger was there. I don't know who she is or where she is from, but she is very rude and snobbish to some of the customers and treats the employees and store manager even worse. I have heard her totally blow them out and threaten to fire everyone because there was a few boxes and totes of inventory that was on the floor. When it was completely obvious they working has hard as they could to get it stocked plus helping and servicing customers. She needs to realize that this store is at least 20 years old and much smaller and less capable of holding the inventory than the new bigger stores can. Plus this is a hometown staff that knows 90% of their customers by name, and who there parents and grandparents were. If the " upper management " expects them to handle the inventory better at the Newton Grove, NC store. Then why don't they consider building a bigger new store with working air conditioning to better serve the customers. To whomever that so called District Manager lady is think about this. Lose the " hometown" staff at Newton Grove DG, you will lose the "hometown" service, then there goes your "hometown" customers and their "hometown" money across the road to Family Dollar. That's just the way it works in "Small Hometowns" in America. Don't take my word for it, Auto Zone, your neighbor is a prime example of losing "hometown" customers.

Only reason I dont give it 5 stars is because of it feelin kind of cluttered in there. Other than that it was fine! The service was very happy and friendly.

Came in to use the bathroom on a long road trip. This Dollar General was HUGE , clean and in the way out I bought a few toys for my pup who was in the car, and some Goldfish crackers!
