I have been volunteering at this shelter for over two years and I am so humble by all the staff that give their all everyday with so much love and compassion. They see a lot everyday that is emotionally, physically draining.The volunteers go to show all the animals they matter and help the staff get the dogs out for walks/playtime.It’s a small shelter with a lot of love and heart. ❤️ come volunteer

They do an excellent job cleaning and caring for these animals.Everyone we met there was helpful and friendly.

Well... what can I say...It is what it is... A Homeless Shelter for our FurBaby's ... But I must give credit where it is due... So with that said... I would like to Thank Mike... Rachel..Ellen and the entire staff for their hard work and dedication to ensuring that my little Roxy Bear 🐻 is being well taken care of and will hopefully be adopted by a nice caring family soon

An excellent shelter. I was able to walk in, meet multiple dogs, and give one a forever home the same day. The application process was a breeze (I did not get a pit bull breed, those do take more time) and the staff was amazing. Thank you for the new addition to our family.

My dog escaped from my underground fence and was detained and delivered to the Human Facility in Newport. I was able to contact the facility and verify my dog. All that was required to release my dog was medical records (rabies verification) and a $20.00 "bail". He was well taken care of, and the people were kind and helpful.

Wonderful and sad, both at the same time.Every time I go down Hibbs Road and turn at the Humane Society sign, I think about how wonderful it is to have a safe haven for abandoned cats and dogs.Sad, because often when I am donating dog biscuits or food, as I return to my car, I'll see a dog in a cage outside staring at me. As if to say, "Please take me home with you. This place is OK, but I want a forever home."And I can't do that. We already have our own rescue dog, and Lucky is a loving handful.But maybe you can. Spread the love 💕!

7 years ago I adopted my fur baby Charlie from CCHS. He has been an absolute JOY to have in our lives! I have three special needs children, and Charlie is their support. He is my eyes and ears when something is wrong. He is their calming buddy when one of them is having a meltdown or is in pain. When my daughter has to have surgery, he is right by her side when she comes home. I can not count the ways that Charlie has helped my children over the last 7 years.. But and so thankful my son and I went there that day and they chose each other! Charlie is not a our pet. We are his humans, and I wouldn't have it any other way! We just recently expanded our fur baby family and got another puppy, and Charlie has been FANTASTIC at showing his baby sister "the ropes" on how to care for his humans. Samantha is 7 months now and fits right in thanks to him as well!😍 Charlie has the Nightmare Before Christmas collar on in the pictures with the two pups. Samantha has the red collar.😍

My husband and I adopted two sister kittens last week and they are such precious love bugs! I am so happy we adopted them together. The shelter seemed understaffed and maybe overwhelmed so if you go just have some patience with them, lots of animals to take care of!

Wonderful shelter with very caring staff/volunteers! We adopted a sweet pittie a little over a year ago and he has been the perfect addition to our fam 🐶❤**EDIT TO ADD**If you'd like to adopt a bully breed, be sure to check their website or call to go over all the requirements. There are additional steps like family/pet meet and greets at the shelter and vet checks. We went to meet Casper 3 separate times, twice with our other dog. Even then they had us foster for 2 weeks before going back in to sign adoption paperwork. The whole process was very smooth though and so so so worth it!!

I want to thank the employees. 11 years ago I came in the Carteret County Humane Society and found Bowser unfortunately yesterday he crossed the rainbow Bridge but I am so grateful for the time we had. From what was supposedly a Lab/Beagle mix that was gonna be no more then 50 lbs to what we think is a Great Dane/Rotty mix full grown at 135 lbs he was a the greatest friend ever.

Very easy to talk to and deal with. As it being a very very very painful day for me, they did the best they could to ease my mind and stifle the pain. Nothing will ever take the pain of having to leave your best friends alone, but the staff tried.

The staff are professional, friendly, helpful and are as wonderful as can be They take great care of the animals and are very passionate about the work they do. The animals are well taken care of. The cats are so very friendly and the dogs are playful and happy. I love donating cats and dogs food , treats, toys, and bedding. They can always use donations. They all are truly amazing.

A Great no kill shelter for all types of animal friends. We found a beautiful pot belly pig to take to her forever home. All the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They took the time to gently load Isabella on our truck.Thanks so much to Rachael and the crew! Highly suggested.

This place is tiny and cramped at times, but don't allow the look of the place to deceive you. The amount of heart you will find here cannot be contained by any size building we could even conceive. So stop by and check out the digs and possibly find a life long friend while your there. Or if you are so inclined volunteer and help the animals out. The look of joy on their faces when you actively engage with them will be forever etched in your mind and heart. So, either way, just stop by and make your life and the life of these often abused and neglected animals far richer and better!

Could not get wherabouts of feral kitten trapped that i inquired about. No one had any idea what happened to kitten. Finally was told it was taken care of someone with a barn. Requested phone call from so called lady and never received call from humane society or barn lady!

I found a kitten on the side of the road and this place was the only place that would take it with a vet on staff and try and save his life. I appreciate what they do and help the give. If anybody would like an animal please go there and get one. They do take very good care of them.

There was a volunteer in there that gave me the third degree when I was trying to turn in an animal made me feel like a criminal when I was trying to do the right thing and she didn't even work there and practically called me a liar in front of my face when talking to other people working there .I can understand now why people are hesitant to bring animals in its people like her .She is not helping your organization she is hurting it.
