Wanted to try a local restaurant with a porch. Kaye's had live entertainment, which all inside seating was taken. So we enjoyed their patio with a view of river and crabcake starter. Their ribeye steak was good, but a little over cooked. My wife really liked her Trout Amandine. We topped it off with a new chocolate cake recipe Kaye had just made that day. We enjoyed our visit and meal.

So we went by and enjoyed the breakfast buffet this morning. It was amazing! The food is cooked to order (eggs, omelets, French toast and pancakes) I ventured into donut French toast, it was so good. I put a few ladles of the blueberries and sauce on them. Thought I was in heaven. The omelet was huge and super yummy too. And full of what you asked for. The chef cooking was awesome, he had his griddle going for pancakes and French toast amd his pans for eggs and omelets. And he was on top of it! He was friendly and personable. The wait staff was as well. This gem is about a 15 minute drive from where we were staying in Banner Elk, and I would go spend a night up in the area just to go have breakfast...although our dinner there earlier in the week was awesome as well. A great place to dine.

We went there last weekend and we were incredibly impressed with everything!!! The brunch buffet was amazing, and you could get literally anything you wanted, including dessert for one price. The guy that made my French toast was super friendly and it was probably the best I've ever had. Will definitely be back, and the long drive we made to eat there was absolutely worth it!!

My husband and I visited for dinner on a wintry Monday night. There were a number of guests dining in when we arrived and folks also picking up take-out orders. We were seated within a couple of minutes of entry and our drink orders were taken. Our server then took our food order from a small but creative menu. We observed guests talking to one another as they paid their bills. This is obviously a local favorite with some return visitors enjoying the pleasant atmosphere. Our food arrived after a short wait and each entree was piping hot and delicious. My husband ordered Scottish Salmon and I had the chicken pot pie with cornbread crust. Portions were generous and tasty. As the evening was winding down toward closing, we had the good fortune to meet the owner Kaye, her husband, the chef and other staff. I left feeling like I had a delicious meal with friends. If we lived here, I would hope to eat here weekly. Our dining experience was a true pleasure.

We went to Kaye’s to have some breakfast. We ordered one of their veggie omelettes and fish sandwich. Both of them were so good, though i had to add a bit of salt in my omelette otherwise i loved the veggie filling inside. I would say the fish sandwich was a hit! I also got their hot chocolate which was unsurprisingly good 👍

UPDATED review. I have now made it 5 stars across the board due to Kaye acknowledging the error from our visit and sending a refund. Not many companies would do that and this shows how Kaye treats and thinks of her customers. Hat off to you Kaye and thank you kindly. We went here on recommendations from many people. The food on the buffet was wonderful, the chef was nice (made our scrambled eggs well) and the server was polite and gracious. What was a shock to us was 2 breakfast buffet plates, a coffee and soda was $39.18 before gratuity (which I left a $5.00 tip), this is why the two star rating. I don’t understand how $11.50 Saturday buffet price x2, a coffee and soda equals to $39.18? I paid the bill, but my husband and I kept on thinking how this added to $39.18. Unless it is cost $10.00 for the beverages which the cost of beverages was not indicated on the check from their server nor did I receive a receipt from the cashier. This price seems like the price of weekday cost of the buffet $16.50 not what we were told of $11.50.

Just happened upon this place while staying in the gorge, there wasn't a lot to choose from and I didn't expect much- just from being in such a small town. I was blown away!!! The prices are incredibly reasonable, the food was absolutely amazing, they had live music which was interactive and fun. We went back the next day for coffee and wish we had stayed for breakfast. Fresh espresso, omelette station ( the omelettes looked like a 5 star restaurant made them), lattes, we got FOUR specialty coffees for $10. I will be back and I honestly can't wait. Love Kayes Kitchen, true gem.

We were just looking for some breakfast out in the middle of nowhere and ended up here. Thank goodness we did, This place was AMAZING. Made to order food right in front of you in astonishing time. I am a cook so I was amazed at what I was seeing here. Food was incredible, staff as well. This place will be a must have for me every time I go up to the mountains.

We enjoyed the breakfast buffet on Saturday and we were not disappointed. We're visiting from Florida and asked a local who works at our condo where we needed to eat and she sent us to Kaye's Kitchen. The food was amazing and the staff was warm and inviting. We'll definitely be back!

So yummy! Very nice service. Small, cozy interior. Came on a Saturday and they were serving the all you can eat buffet for $10.50 Made to order omelets with a bevy of toppings. Made to order French toast also with multiple kinds and toppings. Offerings on the buffet were bacon, sausage links, ham, hashbrown casserole, grits white gravy, Belgian waffles, salsa, and biscuits. Everything was fresh and hot. We will be going again!

This place is the real deal. We ordered California Cordon Bleu and a Sirloin Steak for dinner and both tasted delicious. Kudos to the waitress for the excellent and friendly customer service and their cooks for the presentation and great taste of the meal. Can't wait to try the breakfast buffet on Saturday!!! If you come to this area you NEED to visit this place.

I really liked this place. It’s decorated nice. Service was good. Several choices of coffees, which is different. My food was excellent, but the people I brought had different opinions. The gravy was subpar, biscuits were average. Seemed to be very clean. Besides the cluttered desk on the way to restrooms. I will be back for sure. I believe this place can be 5 stars. Nice location beside a creek with ducks. It’s a good place to stop and grab breakfast.

great little small town restaurant, was in the area on a fishing trip and decided to try it out for breakfast since it had good reviews,It's easy to tell that this is where all the locals go, everybody seemed to know each other,we happened to catch it on a buffet breakfast morning, there was a guy making eggs, omelets, and French toast however you liked them, in which he done a great job on, he was quick on the cooktop and also very friendly.this was our first time here, but certainly not our last, I believe we'll make sure to stop in on our trips from now on.Kid-friendliness: not sure what their age prices are, but my little boy is 5 and he was free, which I think is great since he doesn't eat much (1/4 of a waffle)

Great dinner at Kaye’s Kitchen. Large portions, well executed, and fairly priced. The customer service is great and the owner always checks in with each table. Will be back!

Food was excellent, views were excellent, wait staff was very nice, the wait after being seated was not so great. We arrived and waited for a hostess (15 mins due to other people in front of us) only to be told we could have just walked outside to seat ourselves. Someone stating this or a sign would have been helpful. We sat outside and enjoyed the great weather and views. Highly recommend outdoor seating if the weather is nice.

We were out running errands and decided to try Kaye's Kitchen. I can honestly say it is one of the best meals I have eaten out in a while. The outside is unassuming and in no way indicates what is on the menu. Decor is country kitchen. There is a very nice patio area next to a lovely bridge that leads to a local walking trail. Hanging plants and bird feeders make for a nice atmosphere. Nice to watch the birds and share my dinner rolls. The meals starts out with yeast rolls and butter. My husband and I both ordered the grilled salmon over Kale salad. The Kale, bean sprouts and carrots have been sauted and then tossed in ginger dressing with craisins and pumpkin seeds added. The "salad" is served warm. The salmon is grilled well without much added seasoning. The Kale saute provides all the extra flavor. It was delicious! My husband and I both loved. Their dinner menu changes daily. This salmon dish is a staple however. If you are on Beech or Sugar Mtn. This restaurant should be on your list. I was pleasantly surprised by the uniqueness of many of the dishes.

Went there after hiking on the AT for a few days. Could not have been more pleased. I mean look at the picture and how much food we got! The kindest waitress (Susan) was so welcoming and we had such a blast. The food was amazing (almost too good🤔) with large quantities and small prices. Oh and I got a fruity pebble filled pancake so that was great and then we played cards and sipped coffee for an hour after. If you're reading this I promise you want to go there. Would give more stars if possible. Top 3 all-time breakfast experience for me, and we will certainly be back next time we're within 50 miles of this place. GO THERE!
