Lots of potential for being a fantastic RV park. There are a couple of small drawbacks at the end of my review, but the majority is very positive. The owners are doing a ton of upgrades, so the upside of the park will continue to grow. They have recently asphalted the majority of sights, although some are still gravel. You absolutely cannot beat the location of the park. You are no more than thirty minutes from everything in the area. The owners are currently working on at least 3 projects. Including a bridge to reopen the main entrance as well as a playground. There is a ton of green space still left in the park and a nice creel that runs along the border. Coffee shop on-site is excellent, and everybody is super helpful. The service is A-plus.The only drawback's I found are related to big rigs. They definitely can accommodate big rigs but some of the sites are definitely not level for your length. Make sure to get a fully level site. Also, if you stay while in season, getting long length will be difficult as all roads are very narrow. Also most of the spaces are pretty tight. There is approximately 13 feet between Sites for a vast majority of the park.Overall, the positive far outweighs the negative and we were very happy with our stay.

This is an excellent location to stay close to Sugar and Beech Mountain or a visit to Boone. We parked our RV over the winter to be able to enjoy The Land of OZ in September and the ski lifts over the last few months. Always enjoyed the coffee shop and Emily is just the sweetest. She has always taken our payments and does so with the best attitude. I can not say enough about this campground and them accommodating us at every stay. Camp Host has always been friendly and we will certainly be back.

BIG Mike's Creekside Resort in Newland, NC is one of the best campgrounds I've been at. They Have a Big Mike's coffee shop with a drive thru in the front of the campgrounds. It's right outside of town and walking distance to restaurants. Thursday night a block away is food truck night. Their building has a living room and lots of tables. Their bathroom/Shower house is very clean and has really hot water. The owners and hosts are very nice and welcoming.

We stayed 2 nights. Spot 2 - perfectly level, long pull thru site, right across from the coffee shop & amenities. Very clean and open RV park. Great spot to stay if going up to Beech & Sugar Mountain. Definitely order some coffee from the coffee shop on site, absolutely delicious! Staff is very prompt to answer questions & our camp host was super helpful and friendly. Great cell service as well. Definitely looking forward to staying here on our next visit to the area.

I took my RV to stay at Big Mike's for the Wooly Worm Festival, (that worm was SOOO wrong this year!!). The Campground was very very clean and neat. A creek runs along the back side of it and it soothed me to sleep at night.I met Big Mike. I'm a big man too, but Mike IS bigger, (not rounder)!! What a really nice guy too. We talked for a while about the area and things to do. About the Campground and he suggested places nearby to eat and see that we're right on. While I wouldn't have wanted to be a defense tackle on the opposite team of him, I would certainly go to him for any questions or just to chat. He'll take the time to talk to you and give you ideas and thoughts.Oh, and almost the best part, (cuz it's all great parts), is the coffee shop on site that has such an awesome menu and the bestest coffee. You've GOT to try the butterscotch latte' and the homemade mini pies they have. The staff is so friendly and sweet and make the best custom drinks.

We spent a very pleasant 5 nights here. Our site was paved and level. Reservation and check in were easy. The staff were friendly and helpful. The park is picturesque and quiet. Newland is very close to many beautiful attractions. We will be back. And bonus, the coffee at Big Mike’s is awesome!!!!

This is a new R.V. park, but the staff are wonderful, and the park is steadily being improved. The coffee shop is a nice plus, with a comfortable space to hang out. We will be back up there in July and are looking forward to seeing what more has been done.Update: Sadly, this place isn't living up to the early expectations. There are too many spaces in too little space for this to be legitimately a resort, but it's a convenient spot to get off the road for a while. There hasn't been the improvement to the facilities that I expected. Hopefully the owners can get the projects back on track for the next season.

This RV park is beautifully maintained. There is pride in ownership and it shows. The site we were on (15) was back in and long enough for our 28’ Airstream and our truck and then some. The site was asphalt but needs to be 3’ wider so when you step out of your rig, you don't have to step in the grass (which they take great care of). We had full hookups (20/30/50) and the water pressure is very good. The owners are new to RV Park ownership and there are some learnings. They do allow some permanent residents, but hopefully, that will not continue as they grow. I have no doubt they will continue to improve this park. In addition, they offer a full coffee and ice cream shop as well as delicious home-baked goods. The bathhouse was clean and they have laundry on-site for $2.50 pet wash/dry (one dryer takes too long….) Of all of the parks we've stayed at, this one had the fastest WiFi. The park is within walking distance to restaurants and shopping. We enjoyed our stay andwe definitely will be back here again.

Great place, friendly people, Jackie makes sure that Mike goes above and beyond to satisfy the people's needs. Highly recommend. Ignore any negative comments. You have to visit this campground ground to see how nice it is. It also has all flavors of coffee ice coffee and ice cream. The camp sites are very large. Nice pet area, my grandkids enjoyed playing at the campground. Big Mike and Mrs. Jackie served the campground barbecue.. Boston butt, lots of deserts, and other foods. It was amazing, and we didn't expect such hospitality. We will definitely visit again soon. Thank

My wife and I brought our 36ft travel trailer to Big Mike's with our 5 and 3 year olds. The Camp Hosts, Ron and Debbie, were waiting for us when we pulled in. They helped get us to the site, back in the trailer to the best spot on the asphalt pad, and gave all of the information we would need for a great visit. Our neighbors were super friendly and their cat, Tom, loved our kids! Our creek side site was perfect for the kids to play and explore. Newland is convenient to Boone, Linville, Blowing Rock, and Grandfather Mountain. The ice cream shop on-site was a hit and we will definitely return to Big Mike's!

Park Guest was very friendly and helpful. Entrance and roads in to park are narrow needs about 3 feet wider for bigger RV's. Be careful on grounds many holes to twist an ankle. Creekside by sites need to be cleaned out so you can see it. Beautiful mountain view and nice clean dog area . Plenty to do outside of park. Hicking, site seeing etc.

Big Mike, Mrs. Jackie, Mrs. Kim, and the rest of the staff are awesome! Professional, courteous, and friendly. The RV park is great. Sites are spacious and can accommodate any size rig. The RV park prides itself on the family unit and family environment. Plenty of activities for the whole family. See ya next year Big Mike! Thanks!

We live in Florida and wanted to come north to the mountains to do some fishing, hiking, and get out of the heat. We stayed at an rv resort over by Bryson City along the river. It wasn't great, so we decided to call and book a last-minute stay at Big Mike's . The resort was sold out ( it was July 4th), but luckily, they just expanded. The staff I can not say enough about they are truly wonderful. The campground hosts were so helpful when we pulled in. the staff inside very friendly. The owners had a large celebration for the fireworks. Which included games, skydivers, and train rides for the kids! Everyone felt like family. They also sell coffee, ice cream, and pastries inside the clubhouse. The location is great for hiking and fishing.Thank you for a great stay.

We drove over from TN to get coffee. It was difficult to find so we had low expectations. We were pleasantly shocked that the two mochas were made to our specifications and they were better that many of the espresso drinks we have purchased from chain coffee shops. The restaurant area is new and seems to belong to an RV park. If I had an RV, I would go there because a trout stream runs adjacent to it. The proprietor was very nice and helpful; the bathroom was spotless.By the way, I just saw a review that said I was a friend or employee of the owner. I am neither. My husband and I live two states away and had never been to Newland before.

February 2023, Worst campground I’ve been to! Park not finished, roads are barely wide enough to fit a truck much less back a fifth wheel in a spot. Had to drive through grass and almost get stuck. Park water froze because park not prepared. Campground one big mud hole. All amenities posted in website not available. Apparently excuse given was town doesn’t want it there so park being harassed by code violations. Don’t waste your money!

This is a very nice place to stay for the weekend! Conveniently located to everything! Hiking, fishing, views, great bbq, breweries, ice cream, antique and custom furniture, old timey stores, etc.Jackie, the owner, was extremely nice and helpful with our concerns. We look forward to coming back to try our hand at fishing in the creek that runs along side the park. :)We’re not from the area but it’s clear that this park is helping build up the community because we definitely spent plenty of money this weekend. :) Their coffee house is excellent and they’re in the process of building a music stage along with a spot for food. We’ll be back to see these updates.

Met some friends here for a few days. New park and still under construction. Very tight for a 40' class A. Pads are very narrow. Have to step in mud when you go out you door if raining. Bath house is ok except for entrance door. The door has a window in it and anyone walking by can look in and see what's happening. The roads are also very narrow so very hard to make turns. Not much space between campers.Owner and staff very nice!

It's difficult to imagine what about this place constitutes as a resort. For one, it was next to impossible to find, as there is no signage anywhere, not for the name of the place, and neither for *where* you might be able to check in, which spells big trouble when you show up in an RV, since maneuverability isn't their strong suit. The only building on the lot was a coffee shop, which I could only surmise on account of the line of cars there. I went in and asked if anyone knew where check in was. One of the folks working the coffee shop said that it was here (again, zero signage giving even a ghost of a clue) but that the person responsible for RV related things went unexpectedly on vacation. They scribbled the wifi password on a sticky note and told me to just proceed to my site number, but the sites weren't labeled, and they didn't have a map. After scrambling for a considerable amount of time, they managed to reach someone on the phone who was able to tell us where the site was.Upon arriving at the site, the problems just kept stacking. The asphalt was so freshly paved that my leveling pads just sank into it. The water spigot was hidden and wrapped in fiberglass and a plastic bag which I wasn't a fan of trying to undo. Worst of all, there was no space for anything on the site - not the chairs we brought, grill, nothing. A strip of lawn about two feet wide was all that was there, with neither a picnic table nor a fire ring. No shade or trees either.Long story short, you're paying resort prices, but you may as well be staying at a Wal-Mart parking lot. It's also unfortunate that despite being all fenced in, the general public will be going in and out on account of the coffee shop, so if you ever wanted to experience what it's like to live next to a drive through, this is a good opportunity for that.We left after about an hour and a half of struggle and trying to track any of the staff down and found a far superior and cheaper (!) place across town in Newland called Mountain River Family Campground. Night and day difference. The only saving grace is that the owner was apologetic over the phone and refunded my money. My suspicion is that though the owner has ambitions of making it a good place to stay, but either jumped the gun on grand opening, or is out of their element. It's probably fine to stay here overnight if you have to.

Lol. Don’t fool yourself all the other 8 reviews are Mikes friends or employees. I think it has potential but it is literally a field with RV sites… again, it has potential. Called for a spot and Kim did call back. We were driving though mountains so decided to just go there. Called two numbers and sent a text message and got back, who is this! Realize that we were last minute and looking for a place for one night, but again all reviews have to be mikes friends

I travel for work and stay at campgrounds/RV Resorts often and I have to say this is the best RV Resort I've had the privilege of staying at by far. Despite the Resort being in the beginning stages the quality already surpasses that of any other Resort I've stayed at. The owners are very friendly and absolutely do not cut corners when it comes to quality. I highly recommend this Resort as a travel destination for vacationers and workers.
