My toddler loved our visit here, the one hour ride through the forest were nostalgic and relaxing. The staff who work there were so passionate about the history and super friendly to all the kids and babies. All the children and parents/grandparents were having a great time. So grateful for this place.

A very Nostalgic place. I grew up in a small industrial town and had a train station right behind my home. Today’s visit brought back so many childhood memories. A good place to bring kids and show them the marvels, technology and hardcore labor of a gone by era.Train ride tickets are seasonal and get sold fairly quickly online. Also available to book for kids birthday parties (gets sold out much quicker) I visited on Apr 2, 2023 and the birthday party place was already booked till Nov 6, 2023.

Super cute railway museum! The slow down Sunday ride was perfect. There were old railcars open as exhibits. There was a gentleman in the mail car that told us all about how the mail was handled on the railway and another gentleman in the caboose that told us all about those. My son had a blast, and we can't wait to go back for Halloween and Christmas!

This was our first time at the New Hope Valley Railway and my family loved it! We rode the train for Santa's Reindeer Roundup! There was an hour long train ride in an open air train car where we looked for different reindeer! During the ride, Santa came through and he sat down with each family and we were able to have some family pictures taken. I have been to many different train events and I thought this was priced very reasonably! This whole operation is run by volunteers, which I think is neat!

Not sure why anyone would write a bad review of this place. I went with my wife, mother in law, and 2 children. We all had a BLAST! It's an authentic train with open air passenger cars, nostalgic train cars on display, gift shop, and an outdoor miniature train model. The NHV Railway is ran by hard working, dedicated volunteers. They were all polite and attentive to our needs. I WILL be going back as my son (as well as myself) are huge train lovers. Thanks NHV Railway for giving visitors an experience not found in many places anymore!

My wife and I took a drive to New Hope Valley Railway (NHVR) today to take a short train ride and had a wonderful time. The NHVR offers rides on vintage equipment at the North Carolina Railway Museum. The museum is dedicated to preserving and sharing North Carolina’s railroad history.Today they were having Brew and Choo, which is a food truck, beer tent a train ride. You were welcome take take did and beer on the train. The train ride consisted of a two mile ride down the track and back again, about 20 minutes each way.We have a lot of fun and are looking forward to doing it again.

This is a very special train sanctuary run by very friendly volunteers. The all-volunteer crew rescues and rehabilitates old trains with the funds earned from conducting the train rides. It is a piece of a bygone era and truly a labor of love. We have had an incredible visit every time -- it's an excellent place for children. The Halloween train ride is not to be missed.

This is a really cool railway museum not too far from the Raleigh area. Worth checking out. They do train rides, they have a train museum, including a really cool postal car exhibit, and a miniature city with a miniature train running outside. At Christmastime they do a Santa Train.

Had such a fun time. The train is very slow lol but needs to be because it is open. The mail car was awesome. My son loved learning about it all.I do have one thing that bothered me, it was so hard to hear any announcements on the speaker.

Love this place. All the volunteers are very nice and willing to answer any of your questions. They are so knowledgeable and great with kids. My nieces & nephews loved the train ride.

Pretty cool adventure to go to with the family. Plenty of trains, space to run around, and activities. The Halloween Express was also pretty cool, though arrive earlier than expected before your departure time.

We took our 2-year-old son to see the trains for the first time and he loved it. The garden scale trains are an incredible volunteer run experience with people who love the model trains. Such a great family outing complete with a train ride on an actual train. There were so many train cars, boilers, and Earth moving equipment that my son didn't want to leave. There was an in-service train that arrived as we were getting ready to leave and that was the icing on the cake.

Its fun looking at the mail car and learning how something as basic as our mail was delivered in the past. The train ride was not as scenic as we had hoped and will be less scenic as a subdivision was going up next to the old tracks, it's a fairly short ride and you never really pick up much speed and that's okay because it's a bit rickety even for a train.

My family & I had a great visit today at the Railway...Will definitely be back soon!!! Will also be recommending a visit here to all of our friends & family...Very nice and scenic train ride for all ages to enjoy...price for tickets are very reasonable...lots of old trains and old train memorabilia to walk around and look at...even the prices in the gift shop were reasonable!!! Very impressed that every person that makes this place run are volunteers...all volunteers we interacted with today were so friendly😊 The only downfall of the day was the price of food from the foodtruck...and there was only one vendor with a food truck to choose from, but there is plenty of tables if you wanna bring a packed lunch or dinner.

Wonderful train ride and large garden railway display. The volunteers do a great job of running the vintage train. The ride is just long enough to keep the interest of children without being too short or too long. The historical displays are interesting, and our 5-year old cannot see enough of the large garden railway. A great adventure!

My wife and I brought our toddler on an out of season day in early March. Even though the trains were not running, some very kind employees unlocked the exhibits and showed us around. We had an interesting and fun visit and definitely plan on coming back after April 1 to see everything in full operation.
