While the selection is limited in comparison to the big city West Marines, it is still my go to place for higher quality marine parts and equipment in New Bern. It’s the only place I trust for true stainless steel hardware. The staff are extremely well informed. The place is worth the small extra premium in cost.

Great service. Came in right before they closed looking for a specific rod and grabbed the wrong one. I had already put line on it before I realized. I was nervous to bring it back without the tag but as soon as I explained what happened they helped me look for what I wanted and then returned the amount back to my card.

West Marine is great. They have a the stuff I need for my boat and usually have some old dude there that knows how to do anything. He's retired but he needs to get away from his wife for a few hours a day so she doesn't drive him completely batshhiit. Thank God for nagging wives.

Good selection of maritime products. Organized and clean displays for all equipment. Polite and responsive employees that are quick to ask if you need any assistance. I asked for something they didn't stock and they referred me to their website. I was very impressed by both the store layout and the employees that work there.

Staff is very helpful and friendly but good gosh the prices are sky high! Seriously, you can find literally anything they carry cheaper either next door or on Amazon. Bought some sealant from WM for $20 that was next door for $12. Though about buying a GPS from them only to find out that Amazon has the same one with preloaded maps and all for $120 less! Love going here but usually can't bring myself to actually buy anything.

Poor service. I've been there about 10 times and every time I've needed help the associate has not been knowledgeable about anything I've asked about and they all seem to be having a bad day, every, single, time. I am extremely polite and have even felt they were rude when I called to ask about a product so I don't know what the deal is. We all know West Marine is an overpriced boating store but the customer service is supposed to make up for that. I've been to many West Marines along the East coast and have worked in one and this store is the least friendliest, the least knowledgeable and they aren't even well stocked.

It's a small store with limited supplies. I check my phone app and put the store location, then item I was looking for and it started 6 available. I arrived early before opening. The store didn't have any available. The phone app is either hard to navigate through or it completely wrong. They were going to have to order the part. Well, heck I can order it too. The staff was helpful and friendly in spite of things. Bottom line, call before you go.

My husband drove up from Jacksonville, NC to the New Bern, NC store to buy a VHF marine radio and saw a couple other items but they were priced a bit higher than he could get them back in Jacksonville and when he mentioned it to the salesman he told him that they would price match. When he showed him that the prices were $3.00 lower for one item and $4.35 for the other item they still matched prices and saved him stopping at two different stores in Jacksonville. 😊😊😊

Everything here costs 4X more than any competitor.... its literally the equivalent of an Apple store for Mariners/fisherman. I wouldn't recommend it. They also don't carry garmin products in store. They don't care about selection or customer experience, just profits. If you go online and look up any product, and then Google that product or go to any other retail store website and find that product, you can save about 50%.

I’m a sailor and have bought plenty of parts and supplies from West Marine when we lived in Miami and Jupiter. When we moved to New Bern and visited West Marine, I was very disappointed with the selection and lack of inventory. They always direct me to ORIENTAL or Moorehead store for sailing parts. So, I have to drive 30-40 min out of my way and that’s after I drove to New Bern store.Last straw was buying a July 4th sale item (folding chair) out of stock and not even offered to locate it or ship to me.So, for now, I will shop online for price and service as West Marine Is of very little interest to me other than some chemicals that I need that day.

As the previous review stated, you can get everything that you might buy here cheaper elsewhere, but only if "elsewhere" includes the set of stores and available goods not located in New Bern. Otherwise, you'll pay for the convenience of finding gear in this town.Paying a premium for the experience of the dudes up in here is worth it, too. Not only do they have that experience, but they're willing to share it with you.

Helpful staff and a relatively good selection. Some items are missing from the shelf and resupply is not guaranteed. Still my go-to place for boat accessories.I wish the chain, as a whole, would worry less about clothing articles (which can be found at Walmart) and more on the boating hardware (that can't be found at Walmart).

Poor customer service. Rude sales associates unlike West Marine in Morehead City where you get the same respect buying a$0.30 screw as someone buying a $5k navigation system. 30% off sale pricing on dirty display model ended up barely below competition's regular price. When asking to compensate the sales associate got an attitude and didn't want to even help me anymore. Maybe it is because a Academy Sports is moving next door so I will wait for the going out of business sale before I spend another dollar at that West Marine.

Not a store I would visit again. If the store is open to the public then you should not be able to refuse service because of cash money. My money says its for public use. Don't worry will not be spending here again.

Always essential that you have one of these near your boat. I always check their price against Amazon before I buy. They will match it if the item is shipped by Amazon.

Except for the prices this place is great.Fiberglass cloth... $19 for 1 Sq yard, $7 at home depot.
