What a great place. I loved how the staff was friendly and helpful. Very educated on items that I brought in and above all great prices. I would definitely recommend taking your unwanted gold and items here. By far the best pawn shop around.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR GOLD TO THIS SHOP! We went in to this shop hoping to make a connection with someone local to sell our scrap to and to be treated fairly. We were assured they offered the going rate for gold in a pawnshop environment, and unfortunately we believed them. Soon after we left we had a gut wrenching feeling that it wasn't an honest offer we did some research and found out they gave us 170% less then the going rate at other shops in the area a $300 difference. We brought it to the attention of management and we explained that there are laws that are in place in cases of anyone acquiring property under false pretense, which is evident in our situation Givin the drastic difference in what the actual going rate it is compared to what they said was the going rate. The manager didnt give us much hope in the matter, and when we called another J&W affiliated with this shop the guy on the phone said they offer so little because they dont have competition close by. So they knowingly lowball under false pretense from what I've gathered. Speaking with small claims court to handle this legally. Complete scam. Learn from our situation save yourself the heartache and stay away from this shop.Update/ReplyManager chose to respond with a lie no surprise there. You offered us $300? That's a lie, on $350 of gold another lie. You're really just helping me prove my case at this point. UNBELIEVABLE. What we did was take the amount of gold you printed on our slip and called local shops to compare prices, it only took two phone calls to other shops to realize we were lied to and scammed out of our property. What you did is very much against the law. Acquiring property under false pretense is a felony in North Carolina, and also violates article 45 of North Carolina laws and regulations for pawn shops. If you tell someone this is the going rate for the area and it turns out you LIED in order to gain control of their property, that's considered acquiring under false pretense. Just because you changed your story today and said it's the going rate in your shop, doesn't change what we were told yesterday, that it's the going rate in the area period. Even if you're right and we can't do anything about it like you told us with your snarky attitude today which from what we learned from the court house isn't true , turns out we have a shot... then at least this review is here so it doesn't happen again. We may have lost 300 in our shady dealings with your establishment but I can guarantee this will have an impact on your pocket as well. Lessons have been learned, and more lessons for some of us to come.

We have delt with J&W for years. They are always professional and friendly. They have been fair and have worked very nicely with us. I would and do recommend them to anyone above all others pawn shops.I want to emphasize what a great place this is to do business with.They are pleasant and professional and fair. It would be a great place to do your Christmas shopping..Doug is wonderful to deal with and will be very helpful. All of the staff try to help you in any way they can.

I’ve been coming here for a couple of years now, and Doug and the other associates always takes great care of me!! Everyone here wants you to get your belongings back, and that says a lot when it comes to pawn shops. Most of them hope they can keep certain items you pawn, but not here. They’ve always worked with me, weather I’m late on a payment, or just having a hard time. Great customer service. I won’t go anywhere else!!

I will never in my life recommend this pawn shop to anybody!! The owner was so rude, it was unbelievable! I will never ever be going back to this place again. Honestly made me want to physically punch him in the face. So beware everyone who’s looking for a good pawn shop that’s open on Sunday in New Bern, North Carolina; just wait till Monday because it is not worth it. Again I recommend that no one ever go here and experience what I had just experienced. A business owner should never treat a customer like this, I as a customer should not feel like I’m being talked down to. I am very upset about this.

My husband Warren and I have been dealing with Mr. Doug for going on 10 years now and every time we stop in it is like visiting an old friend. He has always given us great deals on everything from tvs to tools and laptops. There have been many times we have dropped by for electronic advice and troubleshooting in which he always took time to help with whatever we needed. He is honest and more than fair making J & W Pawn in New Bern a pleasant experience.

Best place I been to in new bern I bought my first gun from them guys he even showed me how to use it how to shoot properly and even helped me pick out the best case for my gun just went back a few days ago and will be purchasing two more guns from them even got to joke around for a lil bit I highly suggest going there for all your needs

I already have been down on my luck and I don’t like asking any one for anything. I needed my medicines and my pride would not allow me to ask the few relatives I have for anything else. I borrowed against some things of mine and when I recently became employed again, I proceeded to get my things back. I have one item left that the nice young man that works in there called me about. I appreciated him calling me and said I would be in there Sunday. Mind you, I had not gotten my pay check yet. After paying what I had to pay, I only had enough for gas for work next week. I had written myself a note to call J&W and see if they would give me to Thursday to get it out. I called and asked how much did I owe, explained my situation, and the man lit in on me. “ You should have had it out. He has bills to pay. People like you will call and say you are coming and you don’t.” I said sir “ I have only been back to work a couple months and everything I had in there I have picked up except this item.” He said yeah, well let me see. What’s your name? I told him and I also told him “everybody that tells you that is not trying to get over on you.” He checked and said “ you just call back tomorrow.” I have never been made to feel so low. He also treated me rudely when I came on there one time before. Once I obtain my last item, I will never set foot in there again. You never know what people are going through. It’s no sense in treating people that way.Addendum....went in the shop on this past Thursday 10/18. Bruce is helping me on this final transaction. He is awesome and a people person unlike the man who I dealt with before who needs to be kept in a back room...away from people. I have dealt with the public all of my life and would never disrespect or demean anyone. I just pray for people like that and do my best to stay away from them. A person’s reputation follows them everywhere. You never know who is watching. Thank you Bruce. You made a horrible situation better.

Owner is very knowledgable and helpful. He even gave my son a few dvds for free when we told him it was a birthday! We mostly buy electronics there and instruments but he has tools and firearms and lots more. Great shop. The only one in town I go to.

This is the cleanest pawn shop i have been in in a while! Well organized and good priced items for sale. The lady who is the manager is very polite and helpful. As i saw customers come in she was very attentive and polite you dont get that very often anymore.😀👍

Worst Pawn shop i've ever been to, my brother and i went in to buy a gps and when we found one that seemed ok we tried it out, it didn't work and the employee told us to try it out for a couple days and bring it back if it didn't start working. well it never started working, even after updating the firmware and resetting it, we took it back in and the owner of the shop looked at us like we were stupid and pointed to his sign that said no returns, even though our receipt stated we got a 7 day return. the owner was extremely rude, and it was the worst experience ive ever had at a pawn shop. luckily i know how to mess with his life, ive got his ip address and his system is going to get shut down for however long it takes him to fix it. dont waste your time in here.

I’ve been here three or four times and every time I come they’re always closed! It says it’s open until 530 but I get off at 4 And by the time I change clothes and get here it’s closed and it’s usually around 5 o’clock when I arrive! I’m in front of the shop right now and it’s 515 yet of course it’s locked up tight and dark inside SMH 🤦‍♀️That’s bad for business!!! Although I must say when I had dealt with him once before he was very nice and the shop was very clean and organized I just wish he would stay open until the advertised time.
