Fast, friendly service. Easy to locate, smooth, handoff process.I constantly see stray cats wandering the woods behind my apartment building.I was able to catch a young tabby kitten last night before going to work. She was very friendly, no hissing scratching or biting. But she would not eat, and probably requires medical attention.I would have loved to keep her, but my family already has two dogs, and two small children. I contacted Union County animal services and they said I could bring her at any time before 5 PM.The staff shows compassion forthe animals in their care.I hope they can help her recover and getadopted. Thank you for your service.!

We got our kitten, Scottie, a stray, last week and is a wonderful addition to our family. Thank you Union County Animal Services for our kitten. He’s a climber, loves playing, cuddling, eating and sleeping. We are in love. I’d recommend them to anyone looking for a nice pet.

A friend was able to rescue this dog Randal hours before termination. Great dog, loving and kind. Plays well with others, listens and is fun. The shelter people were GREAT they took their time in letting Randal meet Beth and helped him to realize he was safe. KUDOS 👏

I hate that people come out to my area and drop off dogs and cats. Well a cat showed up very affectionate we considered keeping him but something attacked him and we don’t have the means to care for him. Thankfully the animal shelter took him. They said they could help him. I hope he makes someone very happy. I affectionately called him squeaker. The only thing I don’t like about the animal shelter is the website says they are open on Saturday but the only part open was the adoption side.

I would give zero stars if I could. Animal control in its name states controlling animals. My neighborhood has a huge stray cat problem. They do nothing about it. They allowed me to get a cage, one officer, said I could keep it as long as I was bringing in cats. I was, I took him up to about 20 to 30 cats. One day I got a call from another officer that stated I could only have the cage for a week. And that I needed to bring it back now. I told him that due to their location I was not making that drive without having a cat in the cage. They came and got the cage and banned me from getting cages again. Now, one of the stray cats has been attacked by a dog. They want to come shoot the cat in my yard and have me dig a hole to bury him. I said I didn’t want them to do that especially in front of my family. Response from officer was he didn’t care. I also told him I am slightly disabled and can’t dig an hole, his response was it wasn’t his problem. Absolutely ridiculous. This division needs to be shut down as it is absolutely useless.

Callie is absolutely wonderful. Gets along with my other dog. Both are energetic and wears each other out. She ignores my cats. Great addition to the family. Very helpful and friendly staff.

Very helpful and friendly folks helped us find new homes for the overcrowding of cats in our neck of the woods. They do their best to get as many adopted as possible, but as a responsible cat friend, you need to do more than just feed strays. You should commit to get them spayed or neutered or the population just gets crazy. I was hopeful to see good turnover in the adoption area between visits, so that means a lot are getting new homes!

My granddaughter and I go sometimes to love on the fur babies. Everyone is always so kind and helpful. The cleanliness of the shelter is amazing. I've visited quite a few in my life, and Union county has the cleanest of all. When I adopted my standard poodle mix 3.5 years ago, the whole process was seamless. We are happy with our local shelter. No complaints

The kittens properly was a pound each this grown man acted like I had brought in 6 lions I am a sham to say that my taxes pay for this people. Needless to say I called and talked to the supervisor and vented about all this . When back and picked them up and will take them to charlotte no kill shelter. Also I will try my best to get you guys in the newspaper.

They found a dog who jumped the fence, didn’t contact the owner and ended him killing the dog. Dog didn’t do anything and was the sweetest.

People were friendly. They should have an on-call person in case you need to pick up your animal on holidays.

They lack empathy! Only one member of the staff showed any at all. They are as cold as the death house they work in. They are judgmental and treat you like you're stupid. Please, if you can, find a no-kill shelter or a rescue. Anyone would show more kindness than these hardened people.

My sister took on three guinea pigs because of a death in a family and nobody could take care of them she tried to rehome them and was unable to do so and was also unable to continue to take the guinea pigs she had ownership of the guinea pigs since the death of the family member she called up to the Union county animal shelter explain the situation and they agreed to take them as long as she would bring all their accessories since they had none she even went out of her way to buy bedding for the guinea pigs and also some fresh vegetables for them she provided extra hay and everything that they would need in order for them to be provided a safe place to be until they were adopted out when she went to their location she was refused because the previous owner (not her a Union county resident )but because the previous owner was from Mecklenburg county they all of a sudden decided that they would not take the animals although she had called ahead of time explained the situation and was told to go ahead and bring them she spent her time and her money to make sure that these animals were going to a safe place and was turned away as soon as she got to the shelter The lady was very rude and showed no empathy or sympathy for the situation when all she was trying to do was to make sure that her animals would be in a place where they could be taken care of and not just discarded. She was spoken to as if she was less than The older lady at the front was very disrespectful she needed help with these animals and they were unwilling to because of the previous owners location when she is the current owner and resides in Union county

I visited the Union County Animal Shelter today to drop off some blankets and sweaters for the dogs there. My mom and sister were with me just for the ride. To our surprise, we found the most perfect pup waiting to be adopted! The staff were so helpful. They gave us time to play with the pup and when we decided to adopt, they provided us with food, information, vet recommendations, and told us to call any time with any questions that might arise. They had bathed and chipped the pup and had obviously treated her with kindness. It was such a happy experience. I can recommend that you should check this shelter first if you want a cat or dog. They also have other animals as well, like rabbits and guinea pigs. Indeed, check there first. They are wonderful people and they have wonderful pets.

We went to several humane shelters and county animal shelters in the Charlotte area looking for a dog to adopt. All of these facilities are doing a great job with limited funds and limited staff. Thank you all. This shelter in Union County was a wonderful surprise. It was so clean and orderly. All the staff was helpful and very focused on the animals well being. Thank you.

A person brought in a found dog in North Carolina and it turned out to be my dog, but because they did not believe that it was a found stray they refused to scan the dog. Luckily he turned to Facebook however this establishment almost cost me my dog. I was on vacation when he ran off, I had just recently pulled him from a shelter further south, absolutely despicable thank God he kept my dog after you told him that he would be euthanized within a day. He's actually an amazing dog.

we lost our dog two months ago and was extremely happy when we saw her at the shelter. we took her home then got a phone call from the shelter. they told us that it was not our dog and we need to take it back. they went out to the parking lot and took her from us. the only evidence the other family had of owning her was a picture and saying that they lived on the same road OUR dog was found on. we had her registration paper, birth certificate, and vet records. they also told us the dog was deaf but we quickly found out she was not she would jump and loud sounds. she also would come by name. she had sores on her feet from walking so much in those 2 months and her coat was extremely matted and IF it was the other people’s dog they must have not took good care of her at all. the staff did not handle this well and it was very traumatizing because when we took her home she knew where everything was and we could not believe that they took her away from us. jus do not want anyone else to go through the mess we did. we have never been treated so poorly by staff.

We recently adopted a puppy from Union County Animal Shelter. It was a wonderful experience and we got to bring home our sweet little girl Chloe the same day. She is healthy, smart, and very sweet. We are so thankful to them for giving us our newest family member.

I recently adopted a beautiful cat and she was faced with an infection from her spay. The poor girl had to be rushed to the clinic and is still in care for the second night. I feel better that she's recovering and I no longer blame this shelter. I was just angry and worried but infections happen.I posted a photo of her infection out of anger/worry but it is a poor and incorrect reflection of the shelter. I can't seemed to find an option to delete it or take it down- I think they have to do it on their end. Anyway please try to ignore the photo and consider using your free vet checkup as soon as you adopt. Thank you.Update: I tried flagging the photo so Google will remove it. Please do the same.
