Been shopping here for about 25 years.The service and management is awesomeThe store is always clean and neet, but the meat is terrible when I would buy for instance hamburger meat if I didn't cook it the next day it would be bad or I would see packages of really bright red fresh looking ground beef so I would buy some packages of it open it and start to cook it and the center would be brown it would have about a quarter of an inch red fresh meatCovering the old greyish brown meat. I use to work in a grocery store a long time ago I was a manager in all departments and I can tell they took old hamburger meat and coated it with fresh so they could sell it. That is deception and could make someone sick. The very last time I bought the hamburger meat it was something very strange going on with it. There was a guey gluey substances coming out of it wasn't normal so we threw it out like 99 percent of the other times I bought it from there if they could get the meat department up to at least acceptable we would start shopping there again. We live kind of close and have lots of family in the area that would probably shop there againLike I said before the people that work there are really nice and the place is neat and clean.

I would give 6 stars if I could! This place is amazing. It’s always stocked well, super clean, and you couldn’t ask for better customer service. Management team is professional. This is our place to shop. Highly recommend coming to this location. Very professional.Edit: And They do have a hot wing bar now. Delicious

I feel bad for the people who live in Maiden and are left with only one option for supermarkets. It's not the limited brand selection that turns me away, but the customer service, and primarily the cashiers. While I have had okay service at the deli, the cashiers are a different story. There is one who is always nice, an older lady whose name I should say with praise, but she knows who she is; always has a kind word. The rest of them are so consumed in themselves and each other that they neglect to even acknowledge the customers in line. The younger ones are usually talking to each other, either at the register or near the carts, and the older women are busy glaring at them and making comments about their behavior. I'm not looking for a friend, but friendliness should be expected. I have to initiate conversation to get even the slightest greeting or acknowledgement. I watch others in line before me get the same treatment, too. Managers, hold a training session on Customer Service for your employees! Customer are watching the behavior of your employees. and may be soon taking their business to the next town over.

Used to be great and my favorite food lion in the area. Recently they replaced half their cashiers with self checkouts. I had a cart full of groceries and went up to a register with the light on, as I recently had surgery and it takes me forever to scan and bag my items alone.Several cashiers were standing off to the side chatting, watching as I stood with my groceries waiting to be checked out. I waited for several minutes, looking directly at the cashiers and one finally came over and rudely said "you know self checkout is open." I told them I needed help with the groceries due to my surgery and they shrugged and finally started ringing me up. While checking out, a man with a cart full of groceries got in line behind me and the cashier rudely told him "you can use self check out. He said no thanks because he had a cart full and the cashier rolled her eyes while still checking me out!The self checkout is annoying enough, but I've never had such a bad experience in this store. Everyone used to be so helpful and friendly. Can't believe food lion is cutting labor costs and jobs by making their customers ring up their own groceries like Walmart.

This place is great for produce and dried food such as pasta, rice, beans etc. Good for picking up eggs bread and milk. Meat prices are high though. We now head over to IGA Buffalo Shoals for our meat after buying the rest of our groceries here. Also their 'fresh' bread is brought in frozen in the mornings. If they fixed these two issues I would give 5 stars. Staff are always great!

I'm in my 30s and don't ask for much from a grocery store. That said, watching the way the employees at this store interact with older customers is heartwarming. The people who work here are always kind and helpful, but I was touched by the level of care and respect showed to an older woman who was ahead of me in line earlier this week. The employee knew her by name and was so patient and sweet with her. I hope there are people this compassionate and caring when I'm that woman's age!

I live locally and shop here often. And have gotten to know some of the people here on a first name basis. Never had an issue. But I’m a little disappointed today. Walked in to get a small cake for someone knowing this was the cheapest place around. There were two people in the deli/bakery. The male employee was helping another customer out in the deli section and there was a woman behind the counter. She noticed me after a few moments of waiting. Came up and said something to me but I couldn’t quite make it out. Leaned in to hear what she said and she said “the deli is closed due to short staffing”Two people in there. Lights weren’t off. No signs posted. Nothing. When I asked if that meant someone wasn’t available to write on a cake she goes “I guess. I can try. It’s kind of small. What do you want?”So I told her. Very simple. She handed the cake back to me and I said thank you. She kind of brushed it off. Acted like she didn’t want to be there or deal with me.Went to the cashier to check out and asked if the deli/bakery area was closed and she said as far as she knew it wasn’t. Sooooooo just a little disappointed.

This location is a good one. Clean and well organized. Usually well stocked and laid out in an easy to find manner. Staff, especially in the morning when I shop, are super nice, extremely helpful and willing to find what you need. Great store that I will use regularly!

My shopping experience was great, again. This time I used my own motorized wheelchair since I had just a few items on my list today. Staff working in various locations of the store offered to help me with reaching items, carry groceries out to my truck, and are always willing to go the extra mile; plus with a smile.

This is a nice small town grocery store. All of the staff are friendly and willing to help you at your immediate request. The Customer Service is incredible. The store is very well managed, clean, and a nice environment. The deli and bakeries always have fresh and delicious foods. The only reason I would not give 5 stars is due to the fact that the meat is a hit or miss. It is never guaranteed that you will get fresh meat.

Excellent! I've been to a lot of food Lions and I think this is not only the best for cleanliness but the customer service is out standing. By far the best employees of any food lion. The managers at the Maiden NC Store must put training as one of the highest priorities because they have the best employees from management down to the cleaning crew at this store. I wish I could give more than 5 stars because they deserve it 100% !!

I recently moved back to Maiden after 8 years and this is still my go to grocery store. It is always very clean and stocked! The customer service is outstanding! I've had nothing but good experiences here then and now!

Love this place. I'm from NY and our hometown supermarket is Wegmans. This place reminded me of Wegmans before they expanded their beer selection. When i visited in August, they had a walk in freezer. By the end of the week, it was walled off and some of the beer selection was migrated to shelves

Well Food Lion has done a major overhaul inside and out. It's a nice and clean environment. The associate workers are always willing to make sure the customers can find what they are looking for. The only thing I don't care for is the store having a manager standing near the check out. It's quite annoying. Almost feels like the way Walmart does their store. I understand they want to make sure the customer flow helps get them out faster. Prices and sales could be a bit better as well.
