It's a Zoo Life is an animal sanctuary, not an exploitation of the animals. Many of the exotic animals are rescues from places the animals shouldn't be. Park grounds are visibly well managed and maintained and the animals in healthy, clean habitats. Staff follow safety and security procedures very closely and instructions were communicated to the visitors. The staff were very obviously very close with the animals as individuals, pointing out each one's quirks and mannerisms; very endearing and entertaining. A benefit of the animals as rescues is that the animals are familiar with being around people. So you get to have the benefit of actually feeding and petting kangaroos and wallabies! For a birthday present, I got my teenager an up close encounter with the sloth. WORTH EVERY PENNY! An experience like no other and cheaper than flying to South America. We'll be going back many times.

Wonderful day at the zoo. My daughter wanted to come here for her 17th birthday so we made the little trip over. We booked ahead and set up the lemur experience. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and so friendly. He made a point not rush us and answered all our questions. The animals were well kept and clean. We got so hold an an albino wallabie baby! Totally unexpected. We brought fruit and carrots to feed the animals. We had a great time. They were short staffed and told us they might not be able to do the lemur experience due to needing 2 people to do it. They did do the experience after all and really went out of their way to do that. I was so thankful to the courteous staff. My daughter had one of the best birthdays ever because of the accommodating staff. I can't say enough good things about them .We attended on 7 /11 2023. The animals were well cared for and clean. The Lemur was so friendly and the cappuchin monkey was a real show off . We can't wait to go back and see them again..ty for making our trip so special.

Visited this pretty zoo with my son on his field trip. Let me tell you, we enjoyed this place more than the kids😀. You encounter these lovely animals so closely and you can feed them as well. It’s like a guided tour and the guide was so kind and knowledgeable. This was my first experience to interact with animals so closely. Meeting, petting and interacting with Kangaroos and baby Kangaroos was the show stopper for me. Lots of animal roam around in open area and you can always pet and feed them. Feeding Alpacas and Camel was amazing thing to do.Nicely maintained, cleaned animal areas and knowledgeable guides make this zoo different from others. It’s almost 2 hour tour. Animal food is available at ticket office for $2 in cash and $4 minimum with card. This became my favorite one.

Super fun place! Lots of animals, SO many you can touch - and it’s super child friendly. We took our 1.5 year old and he absolutely loved it. Definitely one of the better “petting” zoo experiences in NC.A few things I noticed…- There’s not much information on how big the area is online…like if we needed our wagon for walking since it’s a walking tour; we didn’t at all but we hauled it around anyway. The entire place is actually quite small.- Bathrooms are outside of the “zoo” like in the parking lot so you should get there a tad early.- There’s no information on feed for the animals (online), but you can buy small bags in the check-in shack outside near the restrooms for $2 a bag BUT you have to spend $4 minimum for the credit card machine, or you have to have cash. And there were lots of people who brought carrots and stuff with them from home and were able to feed the animals with that but we didn’t know.- The walking tour is guided and lasted 1 hour, but they tell you to stay as long as you want and roam around to all the exhibits after it was over. We didn’t prepare to stay that long since it wasn’t posted online, but will definitely do that next time as there is a cute playground and concession-like shack thing with popsicles and such.- This place is literally in the middle of no where (LOL), and my family grew up in Edgecombe county… so make sure you pack everything you need, as it was a 30 min drive to Rocky Mount / Nashville area. I only mention this as my son is a horrrrrible car rider!- There isn’t much shade on the inside, so pack sunscreen and prepare to be hot! We came when it was 90 degrees and I’m 30 weeks pregnant so not the best call on my end - but we still had fun!

This place is a gem! We visited with my daughters class for a school field trip. Halle was our tour guide, she was great, very informative and fun. I learned a lot of new things myself. The grounds were very nice and well-kept and the animals seemed happy and thriving. This is definitely a place to put on your checklist of places to visit in North Carolina if you have small children.

This was a great day trip! All of the animal areas were clean and the animals looked taken care of. There was a mix up with our tour and a field trip but the owner let us in and gave us our own tour guide. My nephew was able to spend as much time as he wanted with each animal! Shae was our tour guide and simply amazing! (Highly recommend her) When the 3 year old loves her… you know! She was so friendly, patient, and knowledgeable of all the animals! We will be going back and definitely requesting her!

Our family had the BEST time at It's a Zoo Life! Cam and Cassie were amazing guides and super informative about all of the animals at the zoo. The animal areas were clean and well kept...AND the animals seemed content in their areas. The hands-on experiences that my kiddos had completely made their day and we can't wait to return for another visit!

Family friendly place to go to see and touch exotic animals that most people would only see on Animal Planet, Discover TV shows. Great guided tour, our tour guide was MK and she did a great job explaining all the information about all the residence of the Zoo. We were able see, touch and feed most of the animals. It's great to see a place that rescues animals and give them a great place to live the rest of their lives protected and loved. We even were able to go into a wolf enclosure and pet a wolf. 100% worth going to. After your tour of the Zoo, head on over to Pinetop (just turn right out of the parking lot) and have lunch or supper at Abrams... You'll be glad you did...

Accompanied my daughter here for a field trip. It was a very nice zoo, the animals seem well taken care of, and in cleaner conditions than some others. Will most likely return for a revisit on our own.

My family and I had a great time thanks to our tour guide Anna! She was super fun and enthusiastic. She provided the group with facts and tips about the animals. Safety of the animals and group was her #1 priority. Anna shows genuine care for her animals and that is very nice to see due to the high rescue ration within the zoo. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking to have a great family day and close interactions with animals. Bring a hat, sunglasses, cool water, bug spray and sunscreen!

This is not just a zoo. This is a one-in-a-lifetime experience. Everything about this was incredible. The animals are well cared for. The guide knew everything there was to know about each animal, both their own personalities and quirks, and their natural traits in the wild. It's obvious each animal has a special connection with the caretakers. Our kids will be talking about this trip for years. We are from Pennsylvania but will be driving back down to visit again soon. It's worth every second of the 6 hour drive. DO NOT PASS UP THIS OPPORTUNITY. Take your kids. Take yourself. Soak up all the love these animals have to offer.

This was an absolutely phenomenal place! It’s a very educational tour of some awesome animals. You can tell the animals are well taken care of and loved. Seeing kangaroos in person and interacting with them and the other animals will be one of my highlights of the year! 5 big stars from us!

We went for a school field trip and were totally blown away! Would definitely recommend going when they have guided tours; so much info and the kids loved holding the animals. So many animals! The kids especially loved the foxes (arctic and sand), sweet Joey the camel, the wolves, and the kangaroos! Oh, and the sloth! Our tour guides were friendly (!) and very knowledgeable. There is also a playground where the kids could burn off some energy from patiently waiting in line. Definitely a must see for Eastern NC!

This place is awesome. They have an efficient set up to view and interact with all of the animals. The animal areas were well maintained and the animals were beautiful. It is an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend this place.* I would have given 5 stars, however, the employees were not wearing masks, nor were they requiring others to wear masks. Not covid friendly. When the pandemic is under control, I will definitely be back.

This zoo is awful! The only reason people still support this place is because it’s cheap! This is the only place you’re going to interact with these animals for the price and that’s not a good thing. Do you know why it’s so cheap? Because they don’t pay vet bills, they don’t have the proper enclosures or in some circumstances the correct diet for their animals. I’ve witnessed tours where animals have been found deceased or where animals have gotten out and injured. There are several pages of USDA reports stating the horrible care these animals receive. If you support this place, you’re no better than the animal abusers. I’d give a negative review if I could.

It was so hot outside but our guide Anna was very fun n helpful. She was patient n allowed us to take breaks n provided water n Popsicles for the group. It was in the middle of no where but we saw n touched animals that we wouldn't normally get close to. The entire staff was friendly n made us feel welcomed including Bo. I would definitely recommend n I look forward to going again when I come back in town. Thanks for everything n the memories!!

A great place for all ages. We enjoyed getting up close with kangaroos, an emu, a tortoise, baby goat, alpacas, and so many more animals. The cappuccine monkey and the sloth were my favorites. My four year old granddaughter loved the kangaroos and baby goat. It's such a great personal experience. Walking along a guided tour with an emu on one side of you and an alpaca on the other is not something you get to do most days. Take food for the animals. The camel loves sweet potatoes. The pigs love anything. Our family thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

We had a great time at It's a Zoo Life today. We did the guided tour and had a blast. It was very personalized and we got to interact with many of the animals. Our guide Mason was very knowledgeable and did a wonderful job. We will definitely come here again.

This was my first class trip to It's A Zoo Life. The location is beautiful and the animals looked well cared for. Our tour guide was awesome!! I believe her name was Kendall. She was very knowledgeable about each animal's habits, diet, characteristics, personalities, etc. The list goes on. She made everyone feel comfortable during the up close encounters with the animals. I feel she also respected the animals and listened to their ques for space when they were not up for the visitation. I looked forward to bringing my family back for a visit soon, it's just the prices were a tad bit to steep for my pocket. If that was not the case, my family and I would certainly be going back in the near future for a weekend family outing!🦓🐂🐆🐺🐖🐫🦔🐐🐑🐇There were so many animals to see at It's A Zoo Life!!

Had a wonderful visit. The animals are great and the closeup experience is so much more than the usual zoo experience. Our guide, Hannah, had all the answers to our questions and really topped of the whole thing. We will be back.
