Great food and service. Finally, a bagel shop that has specialty recommendations which are totally different from each other. Fresh bagels AND ideas. lolThere's a lot of signage though, which provide good instructions but kinda made me feel unwelcome, as though we were bothering the staff by showing up.Friendly recommendation: if you need that much signage, then your setup is neither user friendly nor intuitive.Parking: Limited parking but there's nothing the company can really do about it given the location and surrounding businesses.

This is the absolute best breakfast place in the outer banks! Went down to stay for the weekend with some friends who live in the area year round, and told them we wanted a place where the locals get their food. This is a must stop for anyone trying to get an amazing breakfast plus maybe add a delicious cocktail to wash it down. The island coffee comes with the local-made kill devil hills rum and was perfect with my bagel. The French toast and jalapeno bagels (separate bagels) were the perfect ratio of crisp and chewy on the outside but fall-apart tender on the very inside in some form of magical deliciousness that defied physics. Highly recommend the cinnamon sugar butter as an alternative to cream cheese if you're like me or get a generous smear of cream cheese if you're like my wife. I would have eaten that butter with a spoon. It's that good! Check out the attached pictures to see how amazing everything looks. As a great bonus, the owner was tending bar when we ate, and she was the absolute nicest server/ bar tender/ owner you could want! Great service, great recommendations, and all with a smile. This is the place to start your day in the outer banks!

I have been there several times and my favorite bagel is the locks and cream cheese and capers onions tomato. 1 out of four of these bagels were almost worth it. The other three were so light and lacking ingredients for the $12 you're spending on the sandwich. They hand you the bag with your bagel in it and it feels like there's nothing more than just one bagel in it. The last two of times I got this sandwich I ended up with bottom problems. Lost a customer for life. I'm thinking they reduce the smoked salmon to about the weight and size of a potato chip because they know it's going bad and they're just using it up. Two of the times I went I asked for a light veggie cream cheese. They charged me for that and then I asked them about it and they're like oops, they refunded my money.

Loved this place. Got the Elvis. Pb, banana, cream cheese, French toast bagel, dusting of sugar. Huge portion. Coffee was actually decently strong! Most diners have weak coffee. Staff was friendly and attentive. Decor was nice.

There is more parking behind the building!!!!The food was great! The Hangover Cure is absolutely massive. I forgot to take a picture of it because I couldn’t wait to take a bite. There was SO much bacon on the sandwich, it was awesome. I also got a cinnamon burst which was exciting because not a lot of people have a cinnamon bagel without raisins. My boyfriend got the French Kiss and he was worried it would be too sweet but it wasn’t at all, very balanced flavor.

We love this place! never had a bad bagel! we visit every time we come to the outer Banks for the last 8 years. Even stopped here on our way home when I was in labor... However, we will no longer frequent this establishment since they no longer have a whole wheat option. please bring the whole wheat and whole wheat everything bagels. it was such a good and healthier option. 😥

This place can be hit or miss. This was my bagel today, on the wrong bagel with like NO salmon and so poorly thrown together. Thankfully, they said they would refund my money. Their staff is very to the point with little to no warmth or customer service skills. This all being said, their French toast bagels are PHENOMENAL. I usually get their bacon, egg, cheese bagel with French toast bagel, which is delicious!

Expensive and they don't fix their mistakes.Over priced, esp since the taste was bitter. I asked for cream cheese on the bagel. Was charged for it. I got home and there was no cream cheese. I called and politely explained the situation. The guy on the phone was nice and said they would refund the cream cheese to my card. While a woman in the background was saying they aren't going to do that and was incredibly rude about their mistake.They never refunded the money. So I contacted my credit card company and got it taken care of out of principle.Even without the cream cheese issue the bagel wasn't very good and was over priced.

Owner is very nasty. Will never go again. She could not find order and said if it was door dash she can’t help me. Even though I went through their site to order a pick up. All she had to do was go in the back and see if there was a ticket she refused to do so. I asked for refund that was delayed. I showed her the order on line and through my email. Still nothing. If one of her workers weren’t so nice to find my order that she’s so-called could not find. I told her we come every year and I will not come again. She said that was fine by her. She wouldn’t lose any money. One kind gesture is all it would’ve taken to look in the back and see if there was even a ticket she refused to do so. She was so Flippin nasty to me in front of the whole restaurant.

OMG! You've gotta try this place! Small and busy, busy, busy but the food is phenomenal! So many amazing bagels and options. Their biscuits and gravy is so yummy! The waiter is awesome, he's the only server and he rocks it! We visited three times on our week in the OBX and will definitely be back again soon!

Barrier Island Bagels is one of the best breakfast spots on the beach! This new location and owners have done an amazing job! The owners are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the bagels are absolutely delicious. They offer a variety of breakfast and lunch bagel sandwiches, and lots of combinations that will keep you coming back for more!

My favorite spot at the beach. The bagels are awesome and the service is incredible. They now serve Bloody Marys and Mimosas.They have won best bagels, best breakfast and best brunch this year, well deserved.Go stop in, you will not be disappointed.

Amazing service! Found this place on a whim leaving town and my husband was dad we didn't find it sooner. We did buy a ton of bagels to take hime. The winner was the cinnamon burst bagel with bacon egg and cheese. My husband added pork roll which made his Philly little heart so happy. Also love the local artists and the reusable straws.

I saw someone I follow on Instagram post about these and knew I had to have them when we came to the Outer Banks.Covid-19: I couldn't find a way to order online. When I was there it seemed like they took orders over the phone though. They are takeout only right now. We used the tables outside to eat our bagels.We got the Jersey Morning on a Rosemary bagel, the Hangover Cure on a Sriracha Everything bagel, and the PB&J F.T. which comes on a French Toast bagel.These bagels are amazing. I haven't had a bagel this good since I was last in NYC. I wanted more, but I had to stop myself after 3.As for the sandwiches, the Jersey Morning was good, but the lox was a little fishy tasting and didn't seem fresh. I really liked the Hangover Cure and would probably add cream cheese next time. Of the three sandwiches, the PB&J F.T. was my favorite. The french toast bagel was to die for. I loved the spiciness of the Sriracha Everything bagel too.If you're in the Outer Banks, you have to stop here.

Been going here for a long time. The old location (formerly Bonnie's Bagels) in the Souther Shores center was a go to spot for hanging out, hangover meals, and coffees when I lived in the area.The transition to more of a sit down restaurant is necessary given the new locations smaller dining area. The service was excellent but the extra cost and requisite tip to the server means in the future I see this as more of a take out place, which is fine.I hope the new location is treating them well. Seen a few places come and go from that building so I hope they can make it stick.

Barrier Island Bagels is a quaint restaurant with an expansive menu of bagels, omelettes, and mimosas. My choice was the hangover bagel, scrambled eggs with cheese and a peach mimosa with eat in dining (they also offer to go food). They are located on the bypass so look for them in Kitty Hawk. You won’t be disappointed!

We got the Jersey morning on an everything and the BLT with rosemary. The line was out the door. It was so worth the wait. Service was as fast as they go could and they were super friendly and sweet. Worth the wait! Make it a stop on your OBX itinerary.

I am from New Jersey so have a predetermined idea of what a real bagel is. I have learned long ago to abandon this one I am west of Philly. So with an open mind I walked in for breakfast and ordered the “Hangover”. For the record I do not drink. I was served a nice sandwich with double bacon double cheese, and double egg. All of which I thoroughly enjoyed.
