Worse experience we've ever had. We reserved a room through Agoda which I highly recommend using. We showed up a few days early to look at a room to see what it looked like. As soon as we went in abd asked he wanted to see our ID. Once he saw that we were locals, his entire demeanor changed. He became hostile in his attitude. He aggressively stated that we couldn't book 30 day stays but 28 days we could based on local, state ordinance that stated this. He continued on that it was because of us locals setting up shop to either sell drugs or open an escort business out of the room. He said that he would honor the reservation but demanded a $200 cash deposit to cover the destruction in the room. We were given a key card to go look. The rooms were dirty, smaller really bad and the stairs leafing up to the rooms were damaged making our way very dangerous. Locals and travelers beware. This place should be condemned. STAY AWAY KEEP GOING TO SMITHFIELD

The gentleman that checked me in was wonderful - very warm, cheerful, fast, efficient, even gave me a complimentary bottle of water.Room was spacious and clean. Water pressure was excellent, even had a massaging showerhead, great care was taken in placing towels, soaps, cups and coffee maker, clearly whoever tidies these rooms takes pride in their work. Grounds were clean, all appliances worked, overall a nice room. Didn't see one roach or bug, which is a rare delight for Red Roof. Easy parking right in front of my room.Cons: Very close to hwy - this makes it convenient to get just about anywhere, but there was some noise. I'm a heavy sleeper so it didn't bother me after I fell asleep but a lighter sleeper might have difficulty.

The place isn't bad. It's not so clean. There are no bugs around. The pillows and the bed are comfy. There is free AC. The shower has mold. You get the wifi by talking to the office. There are hangers, TV, fridge, drawers, and a microwave. There is a bathroom. There's an ironer and coffee machine. I'll recommend this place if it was fully clean.Rooms: They should fix the shower. It's dirty and it has mold

Owner lives on site. Rooms are cleaned daily, new towels and washcloths daily. Bed is made daily, and NONE of your personal stuff is touched. Rite next to a Petro truck stop with an Iron Skillet restraunt, which is a big plus. Owner does not rent room to local or riff raff. Had tools left in the back of my truck and nothing was touched or stolen. The owner will not hesitate to call the police if anyone starts hanging around or causing trouble. I've stayed here working out of town for 3 weeks, Monday thru Friday and Not had one issue with anything. HIGHLY recommend!!! No it's not a 5 star resort, but if you want that then rent a 5 star resort. Been in 3 different rooms and NO BUGS OR BED BUGS!!!Rooms: Rooms cleaned DAILY!!! Spotless.Safety: Cameras outside and owners WILL call the police if anyone comes lurking or causing trouble.Food & drinks: Petro truck stop next door with Iron Skillet restraunt, Daily Queen, Wendy's, subway and coffee shop.

The building has some age on it, so it shows some wear inside and out, but my room was clean and in good repair. A good value for the low rate.Micro fridge in the room.I-95 can make things a bit noisy, but that type noise does not bother my sleep.Front desk person was great. I really enjoyed their kindness.

When I first stayed there on my long trip, it wasn’t too bad. Either that or I was just really tired. I’d given room 105 a good review, but on my trip back through, I had room 108…that was a whole other story. The bathroom was the absolute worse!! The tub was so gross - with paint peeling and rust. Who wants to use that? Staff was nice, but the rooms (especially the bathrooms) definitely need a makeover. I probably won’t be staying there again!

The rooms are dirty. Hair in the sinks, hair in the tub and hair and dirt in the floors. House keeping is really slack here, and I would know givens I have cleaned many hotels and resorts. The number 1 rule cleaning any of them is absolutely no hair. They didn't even clean the bathroom floors properly. Just clothes the door and look smh....The beds are uncomfortable and the clothes hangers are dirty. The windows are dirty along with the mirrors. Its was a convenient stay to get to the lake but we wont be staying again.

Good execution of the red roof value proposition. Clean room, everything worked and no issues. This was a great stopover on I 95. That's all I was looking for and that's what I got. Mission accomplished. Rooms facing I 95 will be noisy all night. Not their fault. Lots of gas and food available in walking distance. Owner is clearly investing in renovations and upgrades. I will return. That's the real gauge of how I rate the property. Update - since I first wrote this review I have returned many times. I have gotten to know the manager & his wife. If you are travelling from FL or points South to the Northeast and only want to make one stop, this is your place! I bring my earplugs and sleep like a rock through the night on a very nice mattress.

If ur stopping for a few hours of sleep, it's a ok spot. But the toilet leaks, the sink didn't drain, found a dead fly right when you enter the room, beds are extremely uncomfortable, questionable stuff on the wall. If you stay here and are on the 2nd floor, watch your step! The stairs are all out of wack. BUT this was the only place that had a room available, all other hotel and motels were booked on route 95. The front desk guy was also nice.

The reviews are correct. This place is a dump. I should have just stayed in my truck but seriously hoping I didn't pick up bed bugs in this place. $165 for 2 nights when it looks like this. Walls are thin so you can hear neighboring rooms, TV doesn't work randomly, and an overall outdated room that needs complete remodel. Never again. Next time, I'll do my reset in my truck.

I found the Red Roof Inn is now under new owners and in the three days of their ownership they have improved this place already. The room was very spacious and because of the deep cleaning it had a very good feeling and it didn't smell like it "was an ashtray". I've stayed here multiple times in the past, but this time was so much different. I noticed the changes as they were starting, I can't wait to see the end result. EXCELLENT JOB TO YOU GUYS!!

The room was very nice, and clean. I was glad to see that there was a desk for me to work at, the bed was super comfy and I was so happy that they gave us 4 pillows lol. Our fridge had a shortage and wasn’t working, but we let the guy in charge know and he bought us a new fridge right away! The customer service here is amazing, the price is great. Would 100% recommend

Pretty nice location, good for a one night stay. Right next to I-95, convenient parking, lots of food places nearby. Hotel room was neat and clean, comes with fridge and microwave. The only minus for me, the bathroom sink was outside the bathroom so you'd have to come out the bathroom and wash your hands. There's also only a shower, I doubt anyone would want a bath in a hotel anyways, but those are the difference that stood out. Overall great place and enjoyed the stay.

This was an inexpensive place to stay that was worth a little bit more than it costs. The room was really nice and the truck stop was far enough to where it wasn't a disruption but still extremely convenient. What brought it to four stars was the lack of room service. We only had one set of towels for 5 days. To be fair, the one time they did come by we declined because we weren't out of bed yet. We assumed they'd come back again but we were wrong. Nevertheless I would return if needed.

I really don’t know where the 5/5 stars are coming from. The rooms we checked had black mold in the bathroom all over the ceiling and walls and one of the rooms had at least 10 flies in the room. Bugs in light fixtures. The staff is nice but the hotel is dirty. Pretty gross place. We did not stay this visit but unfortunately have stayed once before. I guess we were exhausted from driving and didn’t notice or just got lucky with a somewhat decent room. The rooms are barely cleaned, you can tell they might do all the main spots but buildup in places they don’t pay attention to. Nasty, I advise you drive a little further. There is a CLEAN RR about an hour south and north from this location.

This was my first time staying here. Paresh and his wife Hema are wonderful people. They are very hard working and very professional and courteous. This place was wonderful a nice quite setting room was clean and cozy and they very accommodating. I highly recommend the Red Roof Inn in Kenly, NC.

I stayed here because I ran out of hours in my day cab truck. Was pleasantly surprised, room very clean, was nicer than most hotel rooms. I didn't find any bugs, and I do look for them. Shower, hvac,tv, and everything else worked. Affordable, and very close to many dining options

The team members are very friendly and go way out of their way to help the customer but the room I got....supposedly one of the few left to be remodeled. Why, when the place had four cars in the lot, did they give me this filthy, mold filled, fluids on the head board, stains on the bedding, peeling paint on the ceiling, dirt on the carpet, way off toned paint touch ups. The list could go on and on unfortunately. Let's just say I have been in better/cleaner hostels, air bnb's, cabins, campers, back seats and park benches than this. I even slept on top of the the bedding with towels and my clothes on. Really hope this changes because, like I said, the front desk staff were awesome

The bathrooms at I-95 rest stops are cleaner. Absolutely disgusting. Our room (110) was definitely not remodeled - more like Mickey Mouse fixes, and plenty of things that were just not. The sink was new and the toilet was newer, but they attached an old toilet seat to it. The smell of mold in the room was overpowering and sickening. Toilet, shower and shower curtain were filthy with hairs around, floor was “crunchy” (unswept and not mopped). Beds were very uncomfortable. Hole in the wall from the door handle smashing through it. Unpainted patches from other holes, sloppy grout and paint jobs, ceiling stains. Shady people hanging around outside smoking. We reserved a room here while traveling on the road just to get some sleep, but checked out at 5am because the room was so gross that we didn’t rest well and just wanted to get the heck out of there.

I’ve been driving for over twenty years stayed a quite a few red roofs this one is by far the best one yet. The room was newly renovated and was incredibly well taken care of and exceptionally comfortable. The manager parish was very nice and very helpful I will definitely be a repeat customer whenever I’m in this area. Thanks team parish. See you soon.

The first room we went to smelled of mold and mildew. We opened up the door that “could” connect to the next room and it had mold all over it. I walked back to the office and requested another room. The staff did assign another room but did not apologize for anything. The second room smelled but not quite as bad as the first. We did find a dead roach in the room as well. Upon checkout, my receipt showed a $7 charge for early check-in, which I was never made aware of beforehand.It’s a shame that there is so much variation of quality and service from one location to the next. We definitely would not stay here again, especially with the high price tag for such poor quality.

Front desk guy was rude to me and my wife. We booked a room and it had hair on the bed and bugs in the drawers. He wouldn’t refund us the money and refused to come visit the room. He did offer to change rooms but we were traumatized by the level of ghetto and dirtiness in this hotel. I had to have Expedia call him twice to get him to budge on the refund. But he lied to me personally saying he couldn’t refund it and that the manager wasn’t present. I felt scammed. He wouldnt look at the room and denied it being dirty with aggressiveness. No customer service skills at all. Not one apology. I do customer service and have done so for 10 years, the man lacked all skills possible. When you speak to him it’s as if he doesn’t want your business and wants to fight you. This interaction upsetted me and my wife. And if your okay sleeping in a dirty room with sketchy workers that look like they’ll break into your room, come here.

I had an emergency, it got too dark along my drive and I had to find affordable accommodations that were also safe and sanitary. I booked a room on Priceline that led me thirty four miles through rural routes and opened up to a truck stop, where I was given the key to a room that was already occupied..😩😩😩the room was kind of clean but, I didn't feel safe and I didn't sleep well

Upon arrival, our room smelled like sewage. However, my boyfriend and I just finished a 12-hour drive and decided to stay and resolve the issue with Lysol (it didn't help). We weren't too picky considering the motel price and the circumstances. Although, I woke up feeling violently itchy, and when we turned the light on- we found bed bugs. I do not recommend staying here and we are aware that bed bugs can be found at any hotel, but this was horrible. After a long drive and much-needed rest- this establishment is just not worth the trouble. Luckily, we were refunded and were able to find a nearby clean hotel to catch a few winks of sleep.response to owner: I woke up to bed bugs and have documentation. In addition, I asked if you would like to come to the room to see the bed bugs, but you refused. It was very stressful, because we traveled on 7/3, so most hotels were booked solid. It was very difficult for us to find another room nearby and we would have preferred to stay at your establishment, but minus the bedbugs.... Which we killed and were clearly left behind on the bedsheets. Next time, own up to your error and do not publicly lie. I will be contacting corporate.
