Michael Bell the owner is super-nice, very informative, and a talented musician! (His wife is a talented painter with a gallery in nearby West Jefferson.) This store has SO many awesome arts, crafts, and cool finds ~ many by local NC artisans!!! Some of my favorites are hand-crafted wooden bowls, dishes, and cooking utensils by the 90-year-old local Mr. Boyd! Great place to learn a lot, and find awesome items (for yourself or as gifts)!!!

What a wonderful place! The owners were incredibly nice and helpful. This unique shop is full of amazing things. Art, folk art pieces, pottery, baskets, wood, fiber arts, musical instruments, books, gifts, and so many more treasures. I’d been here before, about 20 years ado. Glad we stopped in when we visited Holy Trinity Church to see the frescoes.Be sure to stop snd shop. It’s right off the highway.

We visit this area every year around the holidays. One of our favorite things to do is go here! So many things to see! We usually spend at least an hour browsing around. You walk in to look around and find so many things you have to have! If you like eclectic, local and handmade items, this is your utopia!

This is a MUST stop on my annual visit to Ashe County, NC. The Greenhouse's collection of local and related crafts is rich, wide-ranging, and reasonably priced. The owners are knowledgeable about local arts and history. Decorative items are very tasteful, but their collection goes far beyond those, including fragrances, games, and fascinating group of books. The selection of children's items is healthy and appealing. They carry an intriguing variety of Appalachian instruments and recorded music. On a given day, you may even find one of the owners playing beautiful music on the hammered dulcimer! Whether you are a craft-shop regular or one who generally shies away from such places, you will find a visit here both enjoyable and educational. It's a very short distance from other area sites including the gorgeous Frescoes and the Ashe County Cheese Plant.

One of our favorite stops just off the parkway. The store is packed to overflowing with wonderful and unusual items that are all reasonably priced. Visiting Greenhouse Crafts has been an annual tradition for over thirty years. Don't miss it. And the beautiful church of the frescoes right next door too!

I visit this store once a year and there's always something new and exciting. It's always a pleasure to go in and browse around - I ride up every year with my lil small dog to check out the trees and it's my pups birthday ride. Great place fantastic people.

If you are traveling to the Wilkes/Ashe County area the Greenhouse is worth traveling to see. Eclectic, local crafts, great, friendly owners. We stop by every year on our way to get a Christmas tree. I don't think I've ever gotten out without buying something.
