Nothing about this camp ground remotely looks like the website… they had a bad flood 4 years ago and it still looks like it today. We stayed a few weeks ago and arrived to the checkin camper, only to see the sight of a blond woman nearly jumping out of a car that was moving with the door open (she seemed maybe intoxicated?), and running into the checking camper. As you pull in there is a field of broken down cars and trailers. We were directed to camp by the river, and set up for our first night. I went to check out the bathrooms and found it to be crazy. The men’s urinal was falling apart, electrical wires hanging on to of the shower wall, and no locks on the stall doors. The pool that they speak of was green and the local kids (I assume owners kids), were catching tadpoles in it. Frogs had definitely made that pool its home. To top it all off we were very sure that we were offered drugs by the same blond woman we saw on day 1 (she came out and asked if we were their to camp or “buy some tins”).I know that they are recovering from a terrible situation but their website does not reflect the current situation at all! Not even a little bit. I love primitive camping but this place isn’t the place to do it. It’s cheap so I guess you get what you pay for.

Wonderful, friendly service. They were up front at the available amenities and the things that they used to have before the Nov 2020 flooding. They have been committed with daily labor on improving the property to its glory days.As of Memorialal weekend 2024, there are no RV hookups, no dump site, etc, they only have primitive camp sites available. They worked their tails off getting the 100,000 gallon pool cleaned out. Last year summer, it was filled with sand, and that's a massive clean-up for anyone, especially someone who has survived a devastating tragedy. Our kiddos LOVED the river and the little sandy beach area where they played every day we stayed. We all had a blast looking for gems and precious stones that flood the area after rising river water from storms. It was so relaxing to let the kids play in the river while we got to relax to the tranquil sounds of the river. The trails were fun to walk thru. The employees were amazing in checking on the campers during the biggest thunderstorm I've ever been camping in. The kiddos had fun getting to play volleyball in the grass/sandy court.I enjoyed my primitive camping experience, and having a full running bathhouse is a huge plus for me and the kids!We are all excited to return and see the improvements they accomplish.Wonderful place, we had a terrific experience and found some great friendly new friends.Thank you!

My girlfriend and I stayed with 4 small children and had a good time. In ground pool, wifi,a creek runs through it with small fish. At the time I didn't know that Hiddenite is rich in minerals and gemstones so I didn't get to visit one of the mines to look for some, I plan to go back when weather warms up. Friendly place.

I went to this place based on great review from 3 years ago. When I arrived I paid for one night camping, yes nice people, but pool was green and not swimmable. Bathrooms were rough and overall very disappointed. I Set up camp and left within 3 hours. They even admitted they were not permitted to run yet and now I get why. Very disappointed. Call first and ask questions. Very run down and does not look like review pictures from years ago.

Easy and fast check in. Clean sites. $25 a night for tent/water/electricity. Very shady campsites. Great playground and swimming pool. There were a lot of kids there for my kids to play with. A lot of permanent trailer campers. The bathrooms are old/concrete but they were clean and smelled good. From other reviews I expected much worse and was pleasantly surprised. We didn't get a creek site (thank goodness because the bugs that way were miserable) and it has a no swimming sign (my son wanted to play in it). It is beautiful though. We will visit this campsite again every time we go back to the mine.

We stayed for nine days and loved every minute of it. I am not sure what Kelly is looking for in a campground, but I'd say that she would be hard to satisfy if this campground left her unhappy. And you can't hardly blame the campground for the actions of another campers dogs.We loved the atmosphere, and as always, when we camp, we made new friends. The sites next to the creek were excellent and the hookups were perfect. The kids loved the pool, and my son and I enjoyed the fishing in the river, although I have to admit that there didn't seem to be any large fish there.I think that the only very small complaint that I had was that there were no garbage cans at each site. We had to take our garbage to a dumpster at the camp entrance each day. But if that was the only problem I could find, I'd say the week was a success!Oh...and if you have time, check out the Hiddenite Gem Mine just a few miles down the road. You can dig in the woods for gems, or screen in the creek. We found a lot and had a blast!I only gave four stars because something would have to be above and beyond perfect to get a perfect rating. But, having said that, we will definitely be back, and that should tell it all. Thanks Hiddenite Campground!

This is a great place to stay. The family is awesome. They are very helpful. Ot has all the amenities you need and then some. I evacuated here during hurricane Florence. They made my stay very pleasant under the my circumstance. They came by and chatted with me daily and made sure I was ok. I stayed for 9 nights. They were so kind and gave me a 3 free nights. Their generosity was amazing. I am very fortunate to have picked such a great place to evacuate to. Thank you again for your generosity and overwhelming kindness. I will definitely be back.

Fun campground, but small. Has a large pool, large field with horseshoes and volleyball. There are some animals to see as well and the back 3 or 4 camping spots on the river are fantastic. Leaving a star off because bathrooms/showers could be better, but it's about what you'd expect from a family owned place. My family goes at least once, sometimes twice a year.

Took a group there over the weekend. We stayed at a site behind the pavilion. The owner was super friendly and accommodating. The grounds were nice. Rustic bathrooms but clean. Overall we had a good stay and the group I came with and myself would definitely return.

Fun little place. The emerald mine is really close which is a plus. They have a large nice pool and a horseshoe pit. A little playground for the kids was a plus, and they loved the 2 potbelly pigs and pygmy goat. Over nice little place to camp.

Very rundown. The people were nice and helpful but not very organized. Campground Dirty with lots of gopher tracks/holes on our site. Very scary if physically challenged. Did not match the photos or reviews. One lane road in would not want to meet another rig coming or going.

All in all, we had a good time, but this "campground" wasn't what we usually look for. I was grateful that we only planned on staying two nights, with a full of day of activities planned elsewhere.I arrived to find that the access road to the campground was a long, narrow, and bumpy dirt/gravel path. Even at slow speeds, a lot of dust was kicked up. Upon entering the campground, a small sign points you to the office, which is a filthy and cluttered front porch of the owners' home. The owners were very pleasant, though, and check-in was a breeze. One of them then personally walked me to my site and let me select the one that I liked best.During the short drive to my site, I quickly realized that this is less of a campground, and more of a long-term-living location. Most of the sites were occupied by aging, neglected, and run-down trailers with all of the accoutrements one would expect -- yard art, potted plants, weathered decks, and dilapidated vehicles. My site was right on the creek, which saved the trip. Facing the creek, we didn't have to look at the rest of the area. The hookups were fine. We had water, 30-amp electricity, and sewer (although the sewer connection was a little higher than ground level, so dumping wasn't the most efficient). There is no cable TV hook-up and I was unable to pick up any stations clearly with my antenna. Not a big deal for us, though. The wi-fi worked surprisingly well. Streaming video wasn't always possible, but it sufficed for checking email and viewing simple web pages. As far as amenities go, they were lacking. The playground was basic, dated, and some of the equipment was broken. I stepped into the bathhouse just to check it out, but found it extremely "rustic" and not very welcoming. We always use our travel trailer's bathroom, thank goodness, so this didn't affect us. There was a nice, large field that was great for running around and playing. There was also a very basic swimming pool, but since it was closed for the season, I can't speak to it. That seemed to be pretty much the extent of the activities and amenities.Again, we ended up having a decent stay, but that was only due to the fact that we there for a short weekend trip and all of Saturday was spent doing another activity in the area. We often look for a campground as a destination, and this place just doesn't fit our needs.

If you enjoy camping, this is a wonderful place. It is peaceful with nice scenery - lots of tall trees (good for shade in the summer), a few open fields, and a creek. There is a friendly, community feel among those camped here. For kids there is a pool, a playground, volleyball, horseshoes, and a basketball hoop. There are also animals in pens - goats, pigs, mini-horses, ponies and a horse. This is not luxury, but who needs luxury when they're camping. The bathrooms are rustic, but fine for one's needs. We enjoyed our stay here very much and hope to come back.

I took my grandkids (2), boys ages 9 and 5 to dig for treasures at the local mining spot. I decided to camp since it seemed to be closer than the hotels. It turns out that it wasn't as close as I expected. But no big deal we were already packed to camp. I was pleasantly surprised at the overall cleanliness of the bathhouse, pool and playground. It has to be difficult to maintain a large area with an influx of people. Our camp area was up front and directly across from the bathhouse. They had a washer and dryer which was handy. Picnic table and fire pit at camp site. Bring your own grill cover, mine was too small. We had skewers so no problem. Electrical outlet was great for charging iPads, TV and water heater for morning coffee. The pool was clean and clear. All the imenities of home in the rough. It's not posh but if you are camping, is it supposed to be? The kid's had a great time so that's what counts.

This place to me was a Hidden Gem. Most places are what you make of them.We came for the Statesville Balloon Fest, went to the Taylorsville Apple Fest, I was able to have fun, creeking (at the campsite) for free, took a little stroll and realized I was walking their Annual Cape Fear Scary Trail. If you want a fun scare just get dropped off at the beginning of trail and try to make it too the end.Everyone I came in contact with was friendly and sweet. Now for those of you who Tend to, judge a book by its cover, it’s not a high dollar resort, the WiFi they have is free, but likely to give you more frustration if you are trying to stream, than if you bring a movie.Shower / bathroom and Laundry in 1 location near the pristine pool. They are available, campground clean, and good pressure. Just not the best.Laundry room is a small room, no screens in windows w/makeshift curtains. 1$ & 1.50$ to wash and dry. Only 1 of each Machine and the washing machine works but I was extremely hesitant to use because the agitation part missing cap and was disgusting in there. It doesn’t touch your clothes but it gave me Heebie Geebies. The animals are fun to go see —No actual Feeding time event , they allowed me to receive a package at the office.

The sites are nice - some are set up so you can face your campers towards friends. Full hook-ups are handy and the price is right. The bathhouses are useless in cold weather - they are unheated and the pipes froze while we were there. The road in is dirt and can be a bit rough. The campground is right on the S. Yadkin river; some sites are right on the riverbank. The water has a rust odor to it; recommend using a filter. Several sites are big-rig friendly; the sites we were in were level. There are several long-term residents here; some of their sites are messy. Every one we met there was friendly. If you're looking for KOA, this isn't it but it's a useable campground.

All the people are friendly here. It's a great place for a weekend get away and in the summer it has a great pool to cool off in. There are ducks to feed and animals you can walk around and look at. They also do Camp Fear in October.

VERY EXPENSIVE. ..charges for every little thing even the use of a trowel, so bring your own. The Dig is like a half a mile walk so wheelbarrows would be a good suggestion to bring for that and make sure to wear tennis shoes or boots. There's no mention of that on their website when I was researching to go. They will give you buckets of dirt for a fee. But they do not guarantee that that the dirt will have anything in it. Like Crystal or rocks that are sought after. And when you go down to the creek they don't let you pick at the sides of the creek... He kept telling me to stay in the water. I found more in the creek where were camping that I did that day at hiddenite, where I paid to go. When I complained to the owner of the company did get in contact with me. He told me that I could come back at no cost as much as we wanted for the rest of the year and we would get a behind-the-scenes tour. He was very accommodating and promised to make things right with me and even offered to send me a package, WHICH I NEVER RECIEVED, and now I cannot get a response back from him. Very unprofessional as far as I'm concerned and I do not think we will go back

The bathrooms didn't work. Very dirty. Was there in March and certainly was not closed. All info taken properly so perhaps record keeping error? Someone in the future please take a camera in the bath house thanks.
