A very wide selection of animals I would say, a few empty tanks/cages though. The staff were pretty helpful and nice. I'm not a pet expert so I can't gage the prices and things for you too well. Definitely better than the Petsmart down the road as far as the animals go, however there were a few bare spots in the shelves. The staff were pretty helpful and generally nice.

I had purchased 7 Neon Tetras. By the time I got home they were already dead. The separate bag of White Tail Tetras were all alive and well. I returned the deceased Neon Tetrasand got 7 replacements with no problem. The Hickory store has extremely friendly staff. I am very comfortable shopping there bc you guys stand behind your products. That is a true rarity these days! Thanks!!!!

Would not recommend this petco. I go there all the time just because they are the closest salt water store to me. Most of the workers, not all but most are rude. I can't ever get anyone to help me around the fish, you have to hunt people down. You get mixed information with different workers or they just don't know what they are doing at all. Was wanting to exchange a clown for a smaller one because my other clown was fighting with it but they wouldn't let me but yet a different petco I called is willing to let me. This petco just wants me to surrender the one I have already purchased and have to buy another one so they can resell the one I surrender.

AMAZING! This store is very clean and staff is super respectful of my service dog. Most petsmarts I go into they always ask to pet her even tho my service dog wears a vest that says in huge letters do not pet. The staff only asks me 1 time per employee if I need anything. Where at other places I feel followed by employees with questions about my service dog. There is 2 questions you can ask about a service dog per ada laws and other petstores I swear they have 10 questions (I get being curious) but I'm just trying to buy dog food and leave don't make it more difficult!! Seriously the staff is amazing and it's very clean!! One of the BEST pet stores I've been into.

My husband and I took our son to PETCO in HICKORY NC to purchase a goldfish, of course our son is so excited to get a new fish. So we stand in the fish department for 10 mins no one approaches us to help us with a purchase and clearly they were slow so it was nonsense we were having too wait. I walked around the store until I finally find an employee, which I should have never had too do. I asked for help and she rudely says when I get done I'll be there. So eagerly we are waiting too get a fish for ourexcited son. She finally comes over and ask what fish we would you like and we show her. She then ask what size tank we have. I'm sorry but that is rude. I state to her if I choose not to tell tell you what size tank i have considering its none of petcos buisness, will you choose not to sell me a fish and she says I will not sell the fish without knowing the size of the tank. Really your going to turn away buisness. So knowing my son is excited for a new fish I tell her I have a 15 gallon tank. She responds that's to small, I'm like no it's not your being ridiculous and she responds as with a hateful attitude I'm not Selling you a fish.. so please don't waste your time going to Petco. Pet smart is so much nicer and more helpful.

Staff was friendly, prices were reasonable, plenty of available parking, pet grooming was available. If in the area and looking for a Petco, would definitely recommend stopping by and giving them a try.

Expensive. They had what I needed at Walmart. Tha said, it's clean, everyone is nice. Pets can come in so I got to pet some adorable critters. Momma needed crickets. The protein will be needed for egg case. Soon I'll have a hundred little mantis and an angry wife.

Prices here have gone up so much. Membership pricing is the same cost as the product sold else where. Who would want to pay for that? I used to love Petco. The one thing they do have over every where else is great staff! They are knowledgeable and care for the animals! Membership pricing is ridiculous though, don't fall for it.

We went here after a horrible experience at petsmart and this place is amazing!!! The grooming staff went above and beyond getting my anxious puppy’s nails done.. they got to know him before just dragging him away and you can tell he enjoyed every bit of it! I’m so glad I took him here instead of the other place. Savannah was an absolute angel to my Babyboy! Thank you!

It was pretty good when I took my dog the first time. I then took him back a second time after trying others services and I did not like their attitude the second go-round when I dropped him off or when I picked him up. Prob bc of the gap in the grooming but new puppy so I tried a few other groomers. Went back to Petco bc they did best with the de shedding, AT FIRST.When I came back to pick up my dog he was still half wet and when he got home he itched really bad. I called the shop, but the grooming dept manager was not there in which I was told that she would call back on Thursday when She come back in, but she didn't, so I ended up calling Friday and they wanted me to come the next day which was my birthday and which I had plans.Told them I couldn't come and they told me that's all that they could do about it since it would be past two weeks and after that there was nothing that could be done if I couldn't come then and mind u I drive 45 mins to get here. Really the 2 week mark would have been 9/28 being that I was there on the 9/14.Got the general manager on the line and agreed to come back on Tuesday but he was already taken to the groomer while I was gone for the weekend. Called them back to cancel n ask for a partial refund at least for the deshedd treatment. I was told no basically. No point in getting him groomed a second time. Especially now that he is no longer itching.Now I'm blocked from the grooming website. I do not recommend. Couple of my other friends said they have had bad experiences as well. The grooming people are rude. I paid 80 dollars for NOTHING. I'm not sure why they blocked me from the grooming website because I wasn't going back anyways, the way my baby was itching. I feel like it was done on purpose.

Nicky has been an absolutely taleneted and consistent groomer since we found her in Mooresville. So much so, our next cut after Petco Mooresville's doors closed were with Nicky.... Petco Hickory !!! It's a bit more distance but honestly for happy, healthy puppies thay look this good, I'd go much further ! My wife and I are always so happy with the cuts and the service. Nicky is such a pleasure and to us absolutely loves what she does, it shows !

Went to buy a bearded dragon and for one the lady I spoke to had all the wrong info and was rude spoke to me and my wife like we were kids not knowing that we raise reptiles and have for many years. The only reason I even bought one was because the infe she gave us lead me to believe that most of the reptiles were in a bad environment if she was the one who took care of them.. will not ever shop there again and I feel sorry for all the reptiles that have to be taken care of by her

Love Petco so much! I go all the time with my puppy so we can get socialization and fun experiences! The trainer here is really sweet and knows a lot about dogs, so definitely check out their classes! The puppy playtime is super fun and really great for the puppies (and you'll see me there!). Everyone is willing to help me out whenever and I always feel really welcomed. The store and the surrounding grass is also super clean. Thank you for that!
