What a wonderful experience! The staff is so friendly and they obviously love the pets so much!! We met several dogs this morning and there was no judgment when a baby was not a good fit. They were supportive in our quest to find a new furry friend. We met Venga and instantly all 3 of us knew we found our perfect fit. We are renaming her Lucy and are the happiest new dog family in town.

We went to Blue Ridge Humane Society to look at a completely different dog, quite honestly because I thought I would only accept a female into our family. What we ended up finding out is that we were meant to have a little boy We brought him home after an awesome meet&greet with our other boy Saturday morning. We are so happy and look forward to the fun times ahead! The only thing I wish I would have remembered to get was an adoption day picture on my phone lol!

I have been in this facility multiple times and have always seen and felt the staff there be nothing but pleasant and caring towards the animals. They have a process for adoption that helps ensure families and animals are a good fit for each other and have always been amazing with any questions I have had. The facility is kept clean and they have amazing stories posted for each animal. Highly recommend.

Where do I start, from the ease of setting up a meet and greet to the adoption process it was absolutely flawless. They do an outstanding job communicating anything and everything you would need to know about the process.After we met Fergie now Lillie we knew it was meant to be. We went back to the staff to let them know that we would like to proceed in the process and about 30 minutes later we were heading home with Lillie.I would highly recommend BRHS to anyone that is in the process of looking for their forever pet.

I lived four hours away from this shelter at the time when I adopted my pup. They were so kind and selfless about caring for the animals. They waited until I could make it after work and even stayed late for me to let me bring home my dog that day. They take in the best dogs and cats to give them a second chance when no one else will and they train and care for them in their lovely facility. They really care about all their animals and about getting them good homes. I tried to adopt from multiple rescues in the past and this was the only one where I was treated like a person instead of a number and the only one that really prioritized giving the dogs a good home over anything else. My dog is happy as can be and settled in right away thanks to all the advice from their trainers on how to help her. Couldn't recommend more.

Most awesome experience! Got my first cat Denver. He's truly amazing joined at my hip follows me everywhere sweet and lovable just can't say enough about him. The staff are very friendly and helpful and truly care about the animals great place and experience for my first adoption.

Thank you to the kind and caring staff for introducing me to Flora. She has settled in wonderfully at home, and that transition was made easier by the detailed and accurate description on the BRHS website. The photos and behavioral observations were useful and spot on! The adoption process was relatively easy, and I appreciate the organization and the staff.

Great experience. Adopted our sweet pup. Staff was patient and went out of there way to give out lots of time to get to know her and give us puppy training tips. They kept in touch for weeks afterwards to make sure we were bonding and doing well.

The staff were very knowledgeable & helpful even tho it was a busy place. I had gone online to a couple shelters & knew which kitty I wanted to meet which made the process quicker. I absolutely love my sweet 4 month old Spriggy and he gets along wonderfully with my dog.

I adopted my sweet girl Pumpkin from Blue Ridge almost six months ago and could not be happier with my decision. Emily was very helpful in connecting me with the foster, who was also very kind and clearly wanted the best for the cat. Staff very nice when we went for adoption, Badly disorganized for pick up after spay clinic, Van more than an hour late. We were disappointed and suggest you try another location.

I have heard good things, but when I called to inquire about the spaying program, the voicemail for the program was "full" and it led to a disconnect. Then again. Then one more time. Finally I gave up and figured it was some kind of gimmick or simply that the place was poorly run.

Great place to work and adopt from! The job and mission are amazing. The job allows for creativity and autonomy, while also have a strong foundation to lean on. They told my wife and I we were on the waitlist to meet a foster. When they finally called we were at work and couldn’t t immediately answer, so we called back less than 30 minutes later and left a voicemail while they were on their lunch. Instead of getting back to us to schedule an appointment we were told they had moved on. After 30 minutes. Even though they shut down for their own lunch they didn’t have the decency to try and contact us again or even reach out to our voicemail. Seems rushed and chaotic, really disappointed and absolutely won’t recommend them to anyone else.

Hi, I recently lost my dog. And I went to blue ridge humane for a cat. I got a marvelous five year old female. Her name is LONDON she just passed her first vet exam got all shots. An excellent place to find your new animal friend. So far, my mother, daughter, and sister have adopted dogs from Blue Ridge Humane Society. All of the dogs are very different, but are a perfect fit for each member of my family. My husband and I have been looking for a dog to adopt and we haven't found him/her yet, but we looked at the Blue Ridge Humane Society, and we will definitely check back. The staff was very nice, and this is the only place we've visited this weekend that has puppies. AND - this place is spotless and doesn't smell. At least not today (I'm sure that can change at any minute!) Nice place, nice people.
