Very basic rooms in an old school motel, its a great place for someone to stay if their plans involve Cape Lookout (the ferry is 3 miles away) Beaufort (20 minutes away), or Cedar Island (35 minutes away) I go here every year. Strong A/C, decent shower. Nice place for someone if they plan to use it just as a place to sleep. Its VERY inexpensive.

Awesome spot. Very friendly owners that you'll meet on the phone making a reservation. super reasonable prices and clean rooms. HIFC does a great job delivering what you'd expect from a classic fishing center with rooms for guests. Clean and to the point with TV, A/C, Fridge and freezer. Swings to sit in and look out towards the shack and the cape. Plenty of parking in front of the rooms, including enough room for boats on a trailer just at the front of the lot, with room to turn around. There's also a boat ramp along with a bit of a store grab a shirt while you're in there, and there's gas, DG, public ramps, and restaurants very close by. New bridge coming soon to Harkers btw

Simple and sweet motel with a boat ramp and plenty of spots to tie your boat up. Friendly, loving, local staff working their hardest to provide clean and accommodating rooms. I've been coming here for 5 years and my boyfriends family has been coming here and renting rooms for about 25 years. We will always return each year. *some rooms have fridge & microwave & hot plate & kitchen sink - some do not so be sure to pay attention to the room types! Bring your own silverware & cookware or get some from Billy's store within walking distance.

My family has been staying here since I was a young child. Now in my 40s my adult children still also come. This is the perfect place to stay if you have your own boat and love to fish without the crowds. Looking forward to our yearly 10 day trip in just a few weeks. Memories to be made and get to visit with the staff we get to also call friends.

SMOKING IN ROOMS ALLOWED. Nowhere on their website does it let you know this. Everything smells like a stale ash-tray, and your stuff will too when you leave. The hosts were kind and friendly. Location was good. The rooms were clean enough for what you expect at a marina overnight but nasty as hell smelling, and therefore feeling. Spending a small amount of money at thrift stores would drastically improve the stuff in the rooms (bedding, blinds, upholstry) and stop letting people smoke in the rooms. Most smokers don't even like a smoking room. Even at the rate, not worth the money. Won't be back.

Family owned. Great place to get ice if your out on your boat and headed to the Cape!

Expectation management: you first need to understand this is a fishing motel -- not a 5-star hotel. Rooms are clean, the a/c works, hot water will get to you eventually, mattresses aren't great but I'm so tired after a long day of fishing that I don't care. The staff is super friendly and flexible. Millie and Sandra (apologies if names wrong!) were accommodating and friendly in the main office. Owner Rob is usually around and always enjoyable to talk to. Brenda (?) always has the sheets clean with fresh towels in the room. Staff always is flexible about late arrivals (I'm usually driving in from 3-4hrs away). My basic room was $60 a night. I just can't find a room closer than Havelock or Jacksonville anywhere near that price most nights during tourist season. And you are in sight of the Cape Lookout lighthouse -- and a short run in a boat to Barden Inlet if you're fishing (make sure you know the path -- channel is narrow and water is crazy shallow at times!). Check hours at the Fish Hook Grill 'cause food there is exception. Billy's grocery store is next door so you can quickly get groceries -- and it even has a decent tackle and hardware selection. Sea Side Galley restaurant is not far away and it has great breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I always feel like I've gone back in time a few decades before the rest of the world discovered the Crystal Coast area. Get there and experience as soon as you can -- and hope it all lasts a while longer.

So fell in love with this place. Set up mostly for fishing but still very enjoyable for the kiddos also. Very close to many things to do. Super quiet and peaceful! This is going to be my new go to place! Just got home and so want to go back already!

Our family comes here every year for vacation and my husband visits throughout the year to fish. There is no place like Harker's Island! I wouldn't want to go anywhere else on vacation. One of the most serene, beautiful places I've ever been to. My kids have grew up coming here and love it as well. The fishing center is a great place to stay. They always take care of anything you may need! I look forward to coming here year after year.

Good folks, nice ramp, beer, ice, basic tackle, dry storage and wet slips available. Motel on site probably perfect for the tired fisherman who doesn't need candy on his pillow. (Did not stay in motel). Good place.

We enjoyed a ferry ride from the Fishing Center to Cape Lookout in late May 2013. The lady staffing the counter was friendly and helpful, and the store had lots of useful provisions for tourists and anglers alike. The ferry craft was clean, well maintained and fast. But what really stood out was our skipper, Sandy. Sandy is a local and, since there weren't other trips booked right before or after ours, took time to show us all kinds of things after he realized we were interested and had the time. He took us to view the horses at Shackleford Banks, as well as horseshoe crabs and loggerhead turtles. I'm sure he doesn't always have time to do this if there are multiple trips booked, but he went above and beyond and we really appreciated it. He also has a great sense of humor! Our kids and extended family loved this trip.

We stayed in the Harkers Island Fishing Center Motel and found it just fine and very reasonable for two old fishermen. Then we went on a half day charter with Captain Rob on the Last Cast, and had an absolutely fantastic time. We asked to catch flounder since Dad had never caught one. Rob took us to the lighthouse area and we were catching flounder inside 3 minutes. He is a real expert and a great guide. After we had caught plenty of flounder and some bluefish, Rob took us to the albacore feeding grounds and we had an extremely exciting time pursuing these fierce fighting fish. Dad and I each brought one in with Robs expert guidance. What an incredible thrill!! We would never in a million years have caught albacore on our own. Priceless!!! Rob knew exactly where the fish were, what bait and tackle to use, how to bring them in, and how to place the boat to help us fish. His boat is fast, comfortable and gives a dry ride in the chop. I would recommend his charters for anyone from novices to experienced sport fishermen. Thanks Rob!

I loved everything about this place. Amazing price for the quality. Rooms are a bit old, but very clean and welcoming. I would stay here again, even thought the shower head was more like a hose 😂

Having used and experienced the other options on HI for my boat launching and marina needs, the HIFC is more to my liking. Having the rooms for rent offers an opportunity to meet and enjoy the conversation of a lot of transient fishermen/women and beach lovers alike and adds up to a more enjoyable locale to patronize. Cheers!

This is a no frills motel and dockage. The owners are great and always try to make room for you. Great rates on rooms and dockage if your looking for a place to fish out of.
