Dr. Hefner is fantastic! We got a catahoula leopard dog (Cooper) that we started bringing there, and he LOVES Dr. Hefner. We had an appointment right at open and we got there a bit early, and Cooper was so excited he nearly beat down the door until the door was unlocked. 😅

This vet is amazing! They have taken amazing care of my dog and are reasonably priced. When one of my dogs had an emergency they got her in right away and were so kind and compassionate. We have used their boarding services for our dog as well. They sent us pictures and had no problems with us checking in and spoiled her. Highly recommend this vet!

Great place to take your pet for all grooming needs!!!. I decided to try their grooming services after trying multiple other companies and just not getting the perfect cut for my fur baby. I have to say, since I started bringing him here, he has never looked better. At Lake Hickory Vet, the staff strive to make your pets feel comfortable and they love them like their own. Now I can bring my boy in for a checkup and get his haircut at the same time. Thank you guys for loving my baby just as much as I love him.

Can't say enough good things about this veterinary office. I have a dog that is very difficult to deal with at the vet, and they do a wonderful job with him, and myself while we are there! The grooming facility is fabulous! I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a trustworthy vet for your pets healthcare and grooming needs!

Dr. Reed and her staff were amazing, we thought our dog may have needed a sugery that our regular vet was not able to perform. They got her in quickly and were very professional in dealing with our situation. If you do not have a regular vet I would highly recommend just based on the level of service we received, their prices were also very reasonable.

Went through one the hardest days of my life and Dr. Hefner and his tech Jesse were complete angels. They were the truest definition of being God's hands and feet on 11/06/23 - they were so patient and so accommodating to what I was going through. I had to say goodbye to my baby that I had almost 17yrs. I was completely by myself and the pain was so unbearable and they were nothing but complete love toward me and my boy. They gave us time and gentleness and genuine compassion. These types of appointments have to be so hard on the doctor and staff, too, yet all the while they do whatever they can to comfort us. It was an absolute horrible day in my life but Dr. Hefner and Jesse 100% made it more bearable than I could ever imagine. Without their kindness and compassion I would not have been able to walk out of there with any peace. I also must note, it was the first time ever meeting Dr. Hefner and I can never thank him enough for his tenderness. We are new to the area and we did stop in once before and saw Dr. Reed and she was truly so very nice, too. This office is filled with kindness and compassion and love. 🕊

Recently, I had to say goodbye to my life's best friend. I can't say enough about the wonderful family of veterinary people at LHV. They were close through the months. Their wise council kept my friend happy and comfortable right up until the end. I am sad, but I am so glad we all worked together to make him not have to suffer at all. Misdiagnoses, wrong medications prescribed, no follow up blood work ordered that would have caught the undiagnosed diabetes that took my precious baby’s life. I have been told by another vet this should have been common practice and their job, not mine to ask for. If you take your fur babies, please be proactive and vigilant in their care. I will regret not changing veterinary practices after Dr. Glander retired for the rest of my life. I can’t get my baby back now. 💔. When told of this mistake, I was told they’d pass this on to vet but it was brushed off with silence. Poor poor practice.

A very great vet hospital that offers boarding and grooming as well. They take super great care of the animals and the building is very clean and filled with great animal art. The staff is very friendly and cares so much about the animals.

Called about a very worrisome symptom my dog was having, asking for a call back from our vet. Instead I got a call back from front desk staff saying, oh we haven't talked to the vet, but the tech say that's very abnormal and your dog needs to be seen. EXCEPT, they wouldn't fit us in, they were too busy for an established patient. So they recommended two other vet offices.I called around to 5 vet offices, no one would take a new patient on such short notice. In a panic I called Lake Hickory again and essentially had to demand they take care of their patient. They begrudgingly said I could drop her off and that they'd see her if they could work her in. Being as I wasn't terribly thrilled at this prospect, I called one more office in a last ditch attempt, and luckily they were incredibly friendly and immediately offered to see her.My dog needed emergent surgery due to a potentially lethal infection. But you know, THEY WERE BUSY. Luckily my dog was able to have surgery that evening and now we have a new, competent vet office to fall back on. Wouldn't take my dog back to Lake Hickory Veterinary Hospital under any circumstances.TLDR; Dog with symptoms of pyometra, Lake Hickory wouldn't see her. Finally found vet to take her, dog needed emergent surgery for pyometra, a potentially life threatening infection. Lake Hickory Veterinary Hospital will throw you to the wolves.

We have been very pleased with their staff and Veterinarians. They always take excellent care of our cats and dogs.Earlier this year, our 16 Year-old dog had multiple teeth that were rotten and one was infected, which was causing discomfort. Rather than try to lift our dog up to the examination table, which would be uncomfortable for her, Dr. Hefner sat down on the floor to examine her without us even asking. You can tell he has a big heart for animals and the way he so lovingly examined our elderly girl just about melted my heart. I have never experienced this level of compassion and care for our animals. A number of teeth had to be removed, but they did such a wonderful job doing so and she was so much happier once she returned home. We no longer visit any of our local vets and are more than happy to drive 25 minutes from Conover to Lake Hickory Vet.

Our cat tac had his kidneys shut down suddenly and they got us in the same day we called so he would not suffer. They were very kind and helped us get through the experience while making him comfortable in his last moments. Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts.

Comments speak for themselves. My wife and I just moved and we were cautious of a new vet taking care of our new puppies. Dr. Reed was excellent and knowledgeable. The front desk was easy to talk to and set up an appointment while making me feel comfortable.Dr. Reed and the tech (young intelligent woman answered what she knew and directed the rest to Dr. Reed) that assisted her really brought this great experience home. This Vet is awesome. Iam new to NC. And needed a vet asap for my dog. They got me in same day as new patient. I could not believe the pricing with testing, medications and a few days supply of special food. I can NOT say enough good things about this facility all around in every aspect. I HONESLTY was prepared for a 500$ vet bill and the bill was less then half of it. Superb service, pricing, and pet care

My fur babies always receive great service at Lake Hickory Veterinary and Grooming. My Shih Tzu Ollie is very high strung and has to be sedated every time he is groomed. He always leaves the grooming service happy, clean, and with a great fur cut. The ladies and gentlemen that work there are always kind and considerate.
