Awesome trading post. This was the last day for Sally Mae's trading post here. There were lots of gifts to choose from, and souvenirs from Blue Ridge Mountains. Their jewelry was beautiful, the fudge was delicious!! Their selection was wide spread. Next year, they said there will be a different vendor at this location. So glad I got my visit in here today!!

It's a neat place to visit! There are a couple of picnic tables off the side. A place to walk your pet. The trading post has been a favorite spot for our family to visit for years. They have updated inside some and have snacks and goodies to eat, and all kinds of things from local vendors too. I like to sit in a rocking chair on the front porch and enjoy the view😊 There are restrooms outside close to the building.

Another good stop for the restroom and snacks. They didn't have a large selection of food, but their sandwiches were reasonably priced. We had the chicken salad, and just a heads up... Those were the sweetest grapes I've ever eaten... So the sandwich itself was quite sweet. Also, I don't know if there was anything in the sandwich that wasn't listed on the menu or if the knife that was used led to cross-contamination, but I did end up with a mild allergic reaction after eating it, even though I'm not allergic to any of the listed ingredients. So if you're highly allergic to any of the ingredients in the other menu items, I recommend you avoid buying anything off the menu at all. Unfortunately, that means you will be limited to snacks.

A very nice place with rocking chairs on the front porch and lots of nice items inside, especially if you're looking for a gift. The people were very nice, helpful, and friendly. Add it all up and it was a nice experience. 🌹ðŸ¤

Can't comment on the inside, but the grounds are very nice albeit someone neglected. However, and despite the sign on the door, they were closed after 10am on a Saturday in early August. They managed to put lots of no firearms signs about, but couldn't seem to show for work or get the water fountains repair. Hiked here as a destination, but the place is closed.

Lovely stopping point on the central section of the BRP at milepost 259.7. Nice selection of Blue Ridge Parkway apparel, fresh baked goods, snacks, gifts and clean restrooms. Staff is helpful, friendly and professional. Sit out in the front porch rocking chairs and enjoy a cold soda or nibble on delicious fudge. Enjoy hiking on the Mountains to the Sea Trail nearby.

So disappointing. My husband and I have been visiting this little store for the past 20 years. I absolutely loved it. He liked it too. Which says a lot.We drove round trip 60 miles out of the way to visit this little store. We walked to the bathrooms first. They were locked. Okay. No big deal. We arrived about 20 minutes till 4. One nice lady carrying in the rocking chairs said they were closing a little early today at 4 but come on in. As soon as we stepped in the door I'm sure my face fell. Where was the little store I loved so much? It was less than 1/2 filled from the last time we were there. The local hand-made jewelry was gone. Southern Gates jewelry was gone. Local hand-made dishes and pitchers were gone. We walked over to the other side of the store. There used to be 3 or so isles of items to look at. All gone.I asked another lady if someone else had taken over the store, as most of the things were gone. She said the lady that owned it retired. And they didn't care for the items she sold. I don't know if "they" is the parkway or new owners. She told if I wanted household items I could buy those on Amazon. They used to have unique skillets, dishes, dish towels, utensils, Willow Tree figures, odd and ends. Just tons of little things to browse. Now all they have is the Blue Ridge Mountain t-shirts, sweat shirts, hoodies, hats, Kavu bags, stuffed bears. The same tourist junk you can buy at 999 other stores in Blowing Rock and Boone.Needless to say, after 20 years, today was our last visit. It is a sad day.I guess some people may like stopping in but I'm sure it won't be the people who knew what the store used to be like. I'm sure there will not be repeat visitors that drive 60 miles just to visit.Oh, and remember if they don't have what your looking for they will be happy to recommend Amazon.

This place is great! Nice gifts, snacks, real fudge! And coffee!! Now don't expect Starbucks folks. It's not a coffee shop. But when you are on the parkway and it's cold...the coffee & fudge are a treat! Friendly service also.

Bought some homemade soap out there a couple of years ago the spearmint scented kind. Stuff was kinda pricey, but one bar lasted over a month even with daily use! Would gladly buy it again if I can find it there this season.

Nice gift shop, some local crafts, very friendly & helpful staff, air conditioned, well-kept restroom, beverages & snacks, liberal hours. Some venues along this stretch of the parkway are either NOT open or have limited hours. This is a good stop for everyone & roughly have way between the music center & Moses Cone, so well-worth the break!

Love this place in the mountains, beautiful items in the shop, some things are a little expensive but alot is American made and that's what I love, willing to pay for products that keep our country going strong and are made here in our land. Thanks for still being there as we know it has been a real challenge for everyone in these times. Will come again. Check them out!

I've been going to this shop for as long as I can remember - every time I've been in the area for over 50 years. I've seen change after change. It has now morphed into a serious source for local crafts. There are beautiful hand carved bowls, vases and things like egg holders. There are candles, homemade soaps and decor items. There are also small goodies like homemade fudge and cookies. As much as I love some of the items, the prices are a bit much on most of them. There's no way I'm paying $16/lb for tiny little cookies. That being said, it's a fun place to just look.

4 times a year I vacation in the area and the NWTP has become a favorite stopping place. Each visit delights me with beautiful and unique items, many of which are new since my previous visit. I recently shopped there and have half of my Christmas shopping completed. The staff is friendly, even when very busy.

Excellent selection and very friendly service. We will definitely stop in again when in the area. It's on the Blue Ridge Parkway.SUGGESTION TO OWNERSHIP:Please post here on Google that your store hours are not the same after Oct. We drove there today to shop only to find you are closed down for the winter.

Each time I visit NC, I have to drive the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's always part of the experience to stop at the Northwest Trading Post and grab some homemade fudge. There is so much to see in this shop, I sometimes stay much longer than I meant to.

Very rude cashier. I didn't have correct change and she was not happy. So I just left without making a purchase. Definitely won't return. I don't even think it deserves one star.

A disgrace. Loaded with tacky junky foreign made 'gifts'. Nothing local. Bagged snacks, soda, and coffee with only powdered creamer. All food is unhealthy so ignore the parkway map legend that there is food here....dont expect lunch or anything other than carbs and candy. Bathrooms not clean. A waste of time.

Neat little place if you happen to be in the area. I wouldn't drive out of the way to get there, though. Lots of souvenir and craft type items. You should try the fudge. It's pretty good!

I loved this place! I could have spent hours -- and a lot of money -- in this gift shop! I purchased a few neat gift items and saw many unuque items I wanted for myself so I am sure I will return.

One of the few places on the Blue Ridge Parkway open during the current pandemic. Good prices and a nice selection of craft and recreational type merchandise.
