If I could do 0 stars I would, had to call corporate on this store for the disrespect and childish behavior of its employees and store manager, not only is the employees useless but the store is unorganized and disgusting, there's stuff everywhere and you can't get a buggy around. This store needs new employees and a corporate vist all the reviews on Google is absolutely awful

Absolutely nasty! Store is unorganized and disgusting, employees are so rude and don't care about thier job. I couldn't even check out cause they was all outside smoking!!!! If you don't care about your job than stay home and get unemployment. Store manager was rude when I complained about thier employees she forced me to leave and not be able to check out. I hope they all get fired I'm never coming back

Hello hope all is well . I would like to make a complaint in regards to the Dollar General off of 1801 Hickory Grove rd in Gastonia 28056 . I’m not for sure who is in charge there but someone needs to hear the people and get these matters resolved. I’ve went there too many times and the store was closed early the doors locked and lights on with no explanation. The store itself is disgusting and down right dirty the shopping carts and hand held baskets look like they are never sanitized and probably never have been replaced. The floors look like they haven’t been swept or mopped in years . There is never any organization things are just haphazardly thrown everywhere , The workers don’t care and it shows . Workers there are rude and have little to no regard towards anything including customers , products , and service . The self checkout they insist on us using is barley ever in service half the time . And to be frank I’ve quit going there which doesn’t help me at all because this specific dollar general is convenient for me and many others but a lot of people including myself have watched this place go from family friendly nice and clean to rock bottom and with that being said I’ve took my business elsewhere so have others we just wish someone would actually care enough to get this store back in shape with a nice clean organized store with friendly workers and if not tear it down and replace it with something else . If I could give no stars I would, the way they treat customers is AWFUL!! I grabbed a penny item and didn't even know and they treated to call the police on me and forced me out the store screaming at me ill never come to this store again due to the disrespect, wasted my lunch break talking to the police 😒

Shopped the half off section just to be told half of what I got from this section was not half off it should have been honored since there were several other of the same items there. It's right at the register so if it wasn't on sale then it should have been removed immediately. Instead the manager went outside to smoke and left the cashier that is "new" inside with a line down the back of the store. Lost a few customers too and stated she was training the new cashier. Can't train her outside smoking. Please get this store the right people to run it please.

The manager was rude the entire time we were there then she accused my son of knocking toys down and leaving them which did not happen. Why don’t you make sure of your facts before being rude to a customer. I (THE ADULT) knocked the toy guns down on accident and I picked said guns up! SMH If you don’t want to be in customer service don’t be!!!! There’s more problems at this store I’d worry about

OMG...where do I start? The store is closed half the time because no one wants to work there, it's dirty AS HELL inside, the BRAND new card machine barely works (you can count on the card machine as much as you can the ice cream machine at McDonalds), the main employee I ever see in there is rude. That nasty floor looks like it hasn't been mopped in 20 years. This one, and the ones in Cramerton, Lowell and Stanley are all the same way lately. Ugh.

I’ve never had an issue in this store in the two years I’ve been living in the area. I was short on money so I came here to buy a pizza for dinner, the Jacks Pizza is advertised in the freezer as $4, and rang up on the register before tax as $4.50. Normally I don’t say anything because I can afford it, but today I was only working with $4.17 in my bank. When I brought it up I guess the “new” general manager compared to the one that was here a couple of months ago got a really nasty attitude and asked where I saw it for $4 so I told her and told her what pizza. The cashier edited the transaction to be $4 but the attitude ever since the sweet GM that was here before left is awful and even though I live right across from this location I will just go the extra bit to a different location from now on. I didn’t appreciate it being made to seem like I was just trying to get a mark down on the price, when in reality if the price is changed in the system that should have been changed on the price tag too.

I live 2miles from this store & visit it frequently throughout the week. I am a disabled resident of Mount Holly & no matter what time of day/night I visit the store.. both handicap parking spaces seem to be in use. The store allows & honestly doesn't care for the handicap because these vehicles that are always occupying the specific "handicap" area spaces made jus for the disabled persons an I usually have NEVER viewed/seen a placard handicap sign inside of the vehicles nor do they have the correct tag available whilst they occupy these spaces by law! It's very upsetting to see a business break the law especially when it has comes to our communities disabled/handicap! The persons who run this store should be more attentive an stop allowing co-workers and others to jus break the law. It's so disappointing an shameful!!

Very clean and very nice employees. I have a big problem with the fact that they have stocking items on large carts in the isles which makes it impossible to get a buggy down the isle. The store is not very organized items are misplaced around the store. In my opinion it needs better management and more employees to get the store in order and the isles clear to get through. It is in a fantastic area and does another of business. They can do better to serve the customers and make their shopping easier to do and items easy to find.

This is the nastiest store y'all have in my area......Very disrespectful employees.... The stock is never put up... Employees smoking weed outside ........hoodrats running the place.....you have homeless ppl living in your front door @ this store...I could only imagine what they give him from the store for free... Customers can't use the restroom but the homeless can??? I saw him myself come out of there ..Makes no sense...music is ALWAYS WAY TO LOUD...and rap music @ that..... Was threatened today @ this store......we have to goto Cramerton Dollar General because of this.....

*RECENT EDIT* The new staff are miles better than the old staff so I have changed from a 1 star to a 4 star. I will update the review again as soon as new information is available.*OLDER REVIEW* Horrible workers, they scream and cuss and yell. I can't take my kids in there anymore. Today when I was in the store I was 2nd in line and they ended up getting the people behind me and in front of me and just stared at me like I wasn't even there. The young blonde that works there has a filthy mouth..They also had roaches and many sticky items. The workers were mean, loud, rude and did not belong in a job that has to deal with the public.

The store has been cleaned up quite a bit over the past few months. The old employees were not worth keeping around. I have found that a good time to go is during second shift. I always "snoop" around until I find my favorite employee and learn their schedule. That is why I prefer to shop during second shift. I always get greeted at the door and It just makes the atmosphere so much happier and friendlier. I prefer when the two women are working on second. I will have you know, my absolute favorite employee is literally the only one that I have ever seen wear a name tag. It reads "Victoria". Her associate is very friendly as well. They always try their absolute best to do anything they can to help and make the shopping experience better. Keep up the great work DG! It will only get better with time.

I am reporting this store for false advertisement, they had a sale on Sundrop that ended on 01-28-23, the signs were still there on 01-29-23, I was unaware that the sale had ended until I got to the counter, at which point, the manager rudely informed me that the sale had ended and she didn't care what the sign says, she would not honor the sale price advertised. This is the last straw for me, I will not shop here ever again.

Wasn't very wlecoming or warm to customer's. The guys on duty seemed a little out of it. The store was a mess barely could get through aisles. Won't be shopping at this location again. Did it out of necessity due to having to grab some things for my laundry. But i expected a little bit better customer service. The guy acted like he had an attitude when I said I was ready for checkout. Smh

Love shopping here, except I want go back to the one on Hickory Grove rd. In Belmont they had 1 cashier And I guess she was a stocking shelves but they're was so many cats boxes and those rollers you couldn't get down but 1 isle and I had to leave my buggy at the top to go get what I needed. When I asked" is it delivery day, she said no we're just behind tomorrow's" tomorrow's truck day.." lol and I said guess y'all need to stock at night. She got smart and said u need a job, smartly. maybe u could be faster, I laughed and said No but you will! She walked away!! I told the lady at the register, which of course I had to find her first! She said well she's the managet, then I really laughed! Sounds like that sorry needs a new one!?!!!

Came in at 9:48 to get a drink and was denied. There was a line of 4 people it the rude lady would not open the door. As I walked away the just laughed and watched me walk back to my car. I did explain I literally just wanted a drink.

Nothing is ever stocked in this store , for over a month 2 of the isles have been taped up keep out and both isles just packed with boxes. The male manager is completely rude and refuses to honor the sales prices of the signs up . The store is always nasty with boxes piled everywhere and never able to find anything on shelves.

Stock carts everywhere could not access many aisles (appx 80% inacessable). This is a major safety hazard no way egress is easy if emergency. Shelves disorganized and very poorly stocked. Stopped at this store because we were in the area, what a mistake! Never again!

I go to a lot of Dollar Generals and one thing I can say about this one they treat you like your family. The staff have excellent customer service! One time when I was in there this lady daughter which she was a teenager open up fingernail polish and wrote her name on the wall and the worker handle that situation very well even though the girl mom was being very mean and nasty. I give they five stars for that one. The workers still gave the lady respect even though the lady was totally wrong.

Very friendly and quick cashier's. I wish they restocked more often but overall this location is pretty nice. Never had an issue at this location redeeming digital coupons like I have at several other DG locations.

I usually enjoy shopping at DG, because they have good prices and a decent selection. It had been a while since I visited this location, so I was shocked to see how disgusting the floors were. It looked like they hadn't been swept in weeks or mopped in months. It was like I was walking in an outdoor market...I could feel the grit under my shoes...very gross.

The store is doing a lot better. You us to not be able to walk through the store. All of their stock us to set in the floor, and it was in the way. Now there are new people working there . The store is much clearer and safer to shop in.

Went to this dollar general for many years now and in the past year it has went down hill has homeless people sleeping in front of store pluging into the power source in front of store and the people are so rude and also the music in the store is so loud I wont be shopping at this store anymore

The staff was friendly, even though you could clearly tell they were overwhelmed.The store on Hickory Grove Rd and hwy 27 in NC were all in disarray mess. There clearly wasn't but 1 or 2 in the store to try to deal with this all plus endless customers.With minimum wage being their pay I can see why people don't stay with this job.Also, with this work load since no one is staying to work. Your company needs to step up for employees and your customers.To whom will make it their concern.... FYI.
