I don’t understand how there could be any positive reviews on this place. I was horrified by what I saw today. I went in to buy some fish and it was just awful, I literally cried in my car after leaving and reported them immediately. When you walk in you can hardly breath the smell is just terrible. I understand it’s a pet shop and not supposed to smell like roses but the smell is like they haven’t cleaned a litter box in months and I’m pregnant and couldn’t even stay in there to long because I was fearful of breathing the air for to long. That’s unfortunately just the beginning. There were cat feces in the floor in the “snake” room if you can even call it that. It seems as if they are using this place as a storage/business. There is nasty cages stacked in the halls and you can’t even see most of the pets in cages just due to the act that there is boxes full of dirty cages stacked up against them. The part that really got to me was there was dead pets in multiple of the cages. There was a mouse alive in a cage full of dead mice and it broke my heart. The mouse was laying on top of the other dead mouse shivering and he couldn’t even open his eyes. The cages they keep the bigger rodents in are WAY to small to accommodate them. It was just awful and almost all the fish where dead or they looked like skeletons. After seeing the mice I was so upset I left but my friend went into the “bird” room and came back very upset, just like everything else in the pet shop the birds where neglected and she said the room was absolutely disgusting. This place is disgusting and shame on the people who own this place. I hope they get shut down immediately or they sell to someone who can maintain and keep up with needs of these animals. If the owners are to lazy to do there job then they should consider trying to get volunteers to help with the work. There is multiple ways this could be handled instead of these animals being neglected and dying because somebody wants to make a quick buck off of them.

We had a great experience at Smokey Mountain Pet Grooming. They took our Pomeranian from a wooly beast to a neatly trimmed gentleman just like we had requested. The fee was very reasonable. We will definitely be back.

Very unorganized establishment. First time I went there they lost my collar and leash. When I called they said they didn’t have it lucky after arguing with them and letting them know I have an AirTag on the collar they looked and found it. Second time they called me an hour before my appointment and cancelled, even though they never called. Very small kennels for your dog and very nasty in the back. Highly recommend finding another establishment to go to.

I have never experienced a place like this before. As soon as you walk in the pungent smell of filthy animal cages slaps you in the face. There is barely any room to walk because it seems as if this is also being used as some type of personal storage facility? Fish in cloudy buckets of water. Sticky rat traps on the floor, And white mice running free on tops of cages. The bird room is small but packed full of large birds in small cages. One macaw which has plucked himself bare under his wings. They all look terrified. There were fish tanks with no fish in them but instead just junk this and that, house hold items. You could not see the snakes because of the horde of mess, which I am including pictures of. I have never been here before and will never ever go back to this place. SO VERY DISTURBING!

Great place and great prices. The people made it five star. Friendly staff that showed concern, compassion and skill. They really made my dog comfortable and extended TLC. Ollie came home excited and cared for...Much appreciation. I will be returning.

If I could report this place to the humane society I would. The conditions in which those animals live is nothing short of abusive. The smell immediately sent my daughter into an asthma attack. I am at a loss of words with how disgusting and horrible this pet store was. I left questioning if it was a cover up for something else instead of an actual pet shop. Please help these animals.

Great Pet store! They have everything that I have looked for, and pricing is on par with Amazon believe it or not! The owner is always courteous and will make things right if something is not right with what you purchased. Owner is always willing to answer questions you may have and will even offer to test the water of your fish tank to make sure the water is safe for the fish to live in. Also has some wonderful groomers and their work is top notch. I would recommend the store to anyone who is looking to get a pet (they don't deal with dogs or cats in this area and recommends you look to the local animal shelter to adopt either one.) like birds, and hamsters as well as pet products such as collars, food, cages, or whatever. Will continue to do business with!

I have been using the groomers at Smoky Mountain Pets for the past 8 years to groom both my dogs and cats. I took my dogs over yesterday, and they always do an amazing job, above and beyond my expectations. Tom and Kody, the owners, are always polite, professional, and recognize their customers when they walk in. ALL of the groomers at Smoky Mountain Pets are Rockstars with their clippers and scissors. I appreciate everyone at Smoky Mountain Pets and recommend them to anyone.

Tom the owner, his son and the rest of the staff are all so nice. They are very accommodating to their customers. They have stayed open late so I could stop by and get crickets for our bearded dragon. Once I tried cutting my birds nails and caused her to bleed. I took the bird straight to Tom (I did not buy the bird from them) and he stopped the bleeding right away and didn't charge me. They allowed me into the the back with my pregnant dog while she was being groomed even though it's a distraction for the dogs and makes the groomer's job harder. The groomer and Tom were both super nice and even taught me some about grooming. I believe Smoky Mountain Pets has been around for about 17 years and they seem to know most of their customers by name. It's definitely a family business. They have a variety of pets and can answer about any question regarding house pets. Another great thing about Smoky Mountain Pets is they groom dogs from our local shelter who are in need of a good cut for free! These people seem to LOVE animals and our community.

This is a family owned establishment. Tom is a retired teacher and provides a friendly atmosphere. They have went above and beyond to help my parents with grooming their dogs. They are knowledgeable too.

This is a long one. Had an appointment at 12:30 to get my dog groomed. I had never been there before. Walked in and the first thing I noticed was the smell, terrible. The second was the mess. Trash everywhere. Dirty fish tanks in the back. Dirty animal cages to your left and right. I thought, "okay.. don't judge a book by its cover". I let them take my dog back to be groomed and left to do a few things while he was there. I called at about 1:20 (almost an hour later) to see where he was at in his cut.. he had been washed and hadn't been cut yet. I asked how much longer it would be. They stated it would be 4 O' CLOCK before my dog was finished. No thank you, ill come pick my dog up. I said I would pay for the wash, that's no problem but I won't leave my dog at a groomers for 3.5 hours and I really needed to be back home by 2:30 anyways. After stating this I was put on hold while the worker went to talk to the groomer. He got back on the phone and stated the groomer would step it up and have my dog ready in no time. I again said it would be no problem for me to just come pick him up and was again told they would have him ready soon. Went in a little after 2pm to get him, he still hadn't even been seen by the groomer. They ended up charging me $30 for the wash. My dog wasn't even dry by the way. They did offer to reschedule me and take off the cost of the wash but, I will never EVER bring my dog back there. They were very nice people, but very incompetent.

We bought a leopard gecko here. My son is Autistic and the shop owners son is too. I truly think my son made a friend. Our baby is very healthy and was well taken care of. I feel like this shop has gotten some bad reviews because they are not a bright shiny PetSmart. No one knows the condition some of these animals are brought in with. They rescue animals also. They have a cat they have taken care of for year's. People need to be nicer. They need to learn that everyone is different. If you feel it isn't clean enough go in and help them out. Instead of talking about people. Volunteers are always welcome. Every time I've been in there they have tons of customers. Remember Be Kind!!!

I will say the two girls I interacted with were very very nice. Had my dog only a bath not even a dry and nails cut. They allowed me to stay with him while they did it. Which was very nice. But I have to say that shop is absolutely disgusting. so filthy and the smell will gag you when you walk in the door. I couldn't believe so many people were dropping their dogs off there. It's too bad that they don't clean that place up. I can't believe nobody else could smell that. I'm sorry but I won't be back.

It's not nessasarily the smell or cramped cages. This pet store (been to a few in my years) smells pretty much like most pet stores. Pets get dirty.. lots of dirty especially with as many pets as this store has in a smaller setting store. It's not the above mentioned.. it's the absolutely awful and i mean awful service. Walk in there a few times and the owner, his son and the other employees are all talking to each other and ignoring the customers, especially me. I could wait there for minutes and minutes on end.. to go avail . Happened every time I went there. Last time I was there, I just up and walked out ! Their loss.. I was a good customer. I'll spend my money on pets/[ets supplies elsewhere !

My review only deals with the grooming service provided since that was the primary reason we went to Smoky Mountain Pets. We are new to the area and needed to find a place to have our 8lb Maltese groomed and decided to give this place a try based on what the reviews said specifically about their grooming service. We called and were able to get an appointment the next day. We took our girl in and told the young lady how we would like her to be cut and left her to be groomed. It only took 1.5 hours and we got the call that she was ready to be picked up. She was cut exactly how we had asked and looked fantastic. We are very pleased with the service we received and our girl looks great. She even came with embellishments like a scarf, eye jewelry and purple accents in her tail. We paid much less than we typically do at Petsmart for a job done just as good if not better. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and will return in the future.

Our dog finally looks human again! She really looks great. Unfortunately once she was home she was so stressed out and jumpy that we thought she was having a nervous breakdown. Literally jumping at every sound. It took her two weeks to calm down. She is 11 years old and has been groomed many times at several shops. First time this has happened. No idea why...

My experience there as a friend, and person who knows how shops run, I will say this.Most people who don't know how to run a pet store or any kind of "mom and pop" store for that matter don't know what they are talking about.Sure you see maybe something like dog hair on the ground(because they do dog grooming too) or one or two pieces of bird food on the ground.But you people have to realize, THIS IS A PET STORE, a place of business, socialization, there's animals EVERYWHERE, and of course it's going to smell, it's not a florist, or any other store you go to.Honestly, if you don't like it, just leave, but don't be rude about it..The amount of backlash I have read of these reviews doesn't deter me from going there.The owner is very nice, he and his autistic son try everything they can to keep the place up and running.But most people don't understand that or don't care, it saddens me to know, most would try to be horrible to their place of business because of one or two things that happen in every day life regardless of circumstances.

I brought my Schnauzer in this past Monday to be groomed. I will never take her back here again. Her eye brow off, all the long hair around her mouth was cut short, her skirt was cut short. This is not a Schnauzer hair cut . I will not take her back. I don't care how far I have to drive.

I've saw reviews by others that were very negagive about this place and i totally DISAGREE. These people were always kind, friendly and very helpful. So helpful in fact that year before last it was their groomer who saved my dogs life. Without them i would not have known my dog Tinkerbell had a life threatning infection. It was their care and concern for my beloved Tinkerbell that resulted in me getting her medical attention and surgery that she would not have survived had it not beed diagnosed and treated when it was. They have been my Groomers since that day as i knew she was always left in caring competent hands. I can't thank them enough for giving me the last 3 years i have had to love and enjoy my little girl. Unfortunately she is no longer with me she passed away 3 weeks ago. My heart is broken with her loss but again i thank smokey mountain pets for all the love and kindness they always shown to both her and I.

I have a 137 pound St Bernard mix and a 16 pound poodle mix. I took them in for grooming. The poodle was a rescue and had a terrible coat. The St. had a winter of heavy shaggy coat. I was greeted cordially, and treated respectfully by front clerk. The groomer listened to what I wanted and TOTALLY delivered!!! Both dogs look amazing!! excellent job of grooming, excellent customer service and very reasonable prices.

Sad to see the poor reviews due to bad hosts with the birds they have for sale in their facility. Just seeing the living areas was bad enough... don’t “really know” how these animals get treated.Makes you want to buy them all just so they have a better home. But sadly it supports the poor hospitality these birds are getting.Do a better job, not for the fact of your business but for the health of these birds.Zero stars for me.

Me and husband come here quit often we have bought many pets from them and we enjoy them all. We buy our mice to feed our snakes here to. We always have a great vist fathers and son are very friendly and amazing ... There are a couple other employee that are great as well... !

Tom did fantastic with his helper(sorry don't know her name) trimming my Amazon parrot's wings nails and beak. They were gentle and very knowledgeable about birds. Will be bringing him back for his "grooming" for sure.

I'll agree that the people here have always been kind. But thats the only good thing I can say about this store. Even in it's new location it has not improved by much. The birds are crammed into a small room that is filthy, and obviously not cleaned regularly. They have two macaws that have plucked out most of their feathers and are stressed out and not getting the care that they need. The fish tanks are filthy, and filled with algae, droppings and dead fish that have been there long enough to start decomposing. I had really hoped that the new location would be a fresh start, but this store honestly needs to either be shut down or taken over by people that actually care about their animals instead of treating them like merchandise.

I unfortunately can’t post a review without having to give at least 1 star- a “thumbs down” or “no stars”is what I would like to give, why?Mounds of dried fecal matter in all of the birds cages. It’s evident that the cages are not cleaned on a regular basis.Very disappointing that this is acceptable to them and their regular customers.If this is their standard of care for the animals that they sell I could never support or recommend them to clients.

I recently purchased a bird from the store and I was able to get the sun conure for an amazing price they helped me pick the right cage, perches and toys for my bird the owner (Tom) got my bird as a baby and raised him. While he was a baby I was able to go to the store and play with, and bond with my bird. Tom taught me everything I needed to know about my bird and he even started basic training with him because this was my first bird. I will be able to get his beak and nails trimmed for the birds life for free. I will never go to any other pet store and I highly recommend the store for any pets you may want or have.

Always do an excellent job. I was there the other day and the lady before me had such intricate and detailed instructions I thought she was ordering coffee at Starbucks. They are very good at trimming and all that goes with grooming. Gotta get past how the story looks and trust the groomers.
