Lovely small gas station, multiple grades of fuel available, and really nicely refurbished inside with food menu and variety of drinks and souvenirs available. Staff was really nice, and it’s a short fun drive from the end of the tale of the dragonroad, on the fantastic hellbender Road.

Great selection of food and drinks and one of the only fuel stations around. Staff are so kind, they even stayed open late so some of us VW guys and gals could have a night time hangout there. Great people and great memories, thank you!

Welcoming staff and a very clean facility. The pulled pork smelled amazing but we weren’t ready for lunch. Beer on tap or choose from a few locally brewed flavors. Great variety of items for tourists such as ourselves. If you find yourself in the Fontana area this is a great place to stop. 👍🏻👍🏻

Surprisingly nice little place on Highway 28 , just after coming off the Tail of the Dragon. This comfortable little country store and gas station is under new ownership and is being updated, freshly painted, etc. I was pleasantly surprised to find it and delighted with the pulled pork sandwich that I grabbed that day and the sweet young lady who took care of me. I will make this a regular stop on my trip to Bryson City from now on. I recommend it to others.

What a great little shop for gas and picking up whatever you need. The woman running the store was amazing. She loved my Porsche from the last trip I was there and had to stop again on this trip.

The name sums it up. This place is a Pitstop. The location where this place is located is amazing. It sells everything you need to get you through a night of camping or glamping. Bike friendly. Car friendly. Beer friendly. Tail of the Dragon tshirts. Cool cars and bikes pulling on and out all day. Craft beer. Well worth a stop on the area.

Best place to grab a drink near the tail of the dragon! Dealers gap doesn't have a bar to grab a drink, so this is a great substitute to grab a little bite to eat and a drink while your resting! I recommend the pulled pork sandwich, it's made locally!

Stopped at this Gas Station for rest while visiting Fontana Lake with friends. Had a little bite. The restrooms were clean. There is a "Fontana Village Resort Sign" in front of the gas station to let you know that it is nearby.

Friendly staff. Nice spot for a cold beer AFTER running the Dragon and 28 all day and before hitting the hotel (Fontana Village Resort). It used to be called the Hellbender which was a cool name. I had to ding them a star for changing the name!

Super friendly staff. Hours aren't long but they are open everyday and considering the lack of dining options in the area and the fact that there is no way to warm up food if you're at the lodge, the Pitstop becomes a viable lunch option with hot dogs and nachos. A good selection of hiker resupply food at prices that are pretty much what you would expect to pay when you're off the beaten path. No bargains but you're not being ripped off. Public restroom available and a selection of knickknacks and tschotskies.

One of my favorite places to stop while I'm up in the area. I come up to the dragon once or twice a year. The Pitstop is a nice little service station with a small kitchen and selection of beer on tap. The staff is always super friendly. Can't wait to come back!

Stopped here every year when traveling through for the last12 years. I was excited to go back this week. I actually gave a 5 star review before I left the hotel to make my way there. When I arrived they said "sorry, all of the hotdogs we have are frozen." and that was it. Never offered to thaw some out or anything. I mean there was a microwave there. Anyway, our long tradition of stopping there has come to an end. Never going back

I like pretty much everything about the Pitstop. It's kind of retro theme sets a nice mood. They have a little of everything. The food is pretty good. They have good fuel!The hours can be limited. So it's good to know them when you plan to be around, if possible. And when staying at Fontana Village, they have beer. So yes, I highly recommend the Pitstop.

Great little gas station. The facilities are super clean the staff is very friendly and they have premium fuel. You do have to pay before you pump and that is clearly written on the pump. one of the last places you can use the Retro classic gas pumps with analog readouts. Gas stations are few and far between in this area it's a good idea to top off

Just like it is named. It was a pitstop on our way to the fontana dam. We got some munchies for the road. The young lady at the front desk was very nice to the customer.You will find some memorabilia to buy here. As well was ice cream, chocolates, tee shirts, beer, car oil, etc.
