I’m writing this review because I hate to see any animal living in deplorable conditions. Even if Petco is selling their rats for “feeders” the rats should be treated humanely while in the care of Petco. The rats are living in deplorable conditions. When I brought this to the attention of the staff, I was told that the rats arrived that way. I was told this is normal for how they arrive and one of the staff members told me that she feels so sorry for the rats that she has bought many rats to save them. She also relayed that staff doesn’t have the right to refuse a sale to people they believe will harm the rats. If the rats are truly being sold to Petco in conditions where they are covered in poop??? Why does Petco continue to support such suppliers and breeders?? Especially after such controversy over a child dying from a rat bite from a rat sold by Petco 2013?? The rats at this store and any animal should be treated humanely or don’t carry such annals at all. If these poor critters arrive in such bad conditions, PETCO STOP SUPPORTING THESE SUPPLIERS. In attached photos you can see these poor guys have poo all over their bottoms and tails and on the walls of a gross aquarium that isn’t fit to live in. One of them appeared sick.

I take my dogs here to be groomed. The lady who does it is super nice and professional. I know when I bring my dogs here that they'll be given the royal treatment.

Excellent service and quick response. I did witness a person who claimed to work for Door Dash trying to pick up some orders. She had no identification and she began yelling that Petco was racist as she doxxed the store employees and customers with her cellphone. It was disturbing to everyone but the employees, even though they were clearly shaken, handled this as quietly and well mannered as they could. I did pick up some other items and would have shopped longer had this individual not been so disruptive and threatening.

I came here wearing my cute little collar to buy a leash for my "dog" and a few other pet items. I got a few weird looks but otherwise a good experience. I can't wait to come back with my girlfriend to buy more things.

If my cat didn’t love one brand of food you make, I wouldn’t ever shop there again. When you buy 20 cans of cat food and accessories and the checkout person pushes it all towards you and says “would you like to buy a bag for 10 cents!!” That’s disgusting customer service when it doesn’t take a penny to make that flimsy plastic bag!!

My furbaby Ryder got groomed today. His groomer was/is Kimberly. She's great!!! I heard Ryder complaining when I walked through the door (I've never had to or needed to crate Ryder in his 12 years) and Kimberly was trying to console him. She had no idea that I was there, (about 20 minutes) I was just listening to Ryder complain. So happy with my experience and especially Ryder's. Kimberly is awesome she's a true animal lover!!!

In recent years we've been customers at a rival pet supply store -- however, recently I've come to PETCO for items of urgent importance -- like an inflatable collar for for our pitbull after surgery (already had a cone), food for our "adopted" Black & Yellow spider as cold weather reduced insects, and now (again for ailing pitbull) a probiotic. AS ALWAYS the staff at this store was impressive. In particular, several times Zack helped identify the perfect product for our needs and soon placed the item in my hands -- answering all questions I had. Zack and others at this store are examples of excellence that sets PETCO apart from competitors. Indeed, on this visit I learned that the store now carries the Purina food our dog needs but have been getting from your competitor store in Durham. From now on, I will be getting it at this PETCO on the Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd. Thank You to higher management for hiring -- and retaining -- such quality staff.

Change the closing time on this site if you’re going to close at 7pm! Female Worker looked directly at me closing the door at 7pm & wouldn’t even make eye contact to let me know they were closing - totally ignored me. RUDE - petco has lost a customer. Peace out!

I just received a call from someone at this store stating that my dogs grooming appointment was canceled for today at 12:00 noon. Mind you I had just received a text confirming his appointment minutes to an hour ago. I made this appointment over a month ago as it fit with my work schedule. I had received text message alerts confirming my dog’s appointment. The person who called me appeared to be so nonchalant and when I asked if anyone else there could groom my dog, the answer was no. I then asked when could I reschedule and was told, someone call you. I asked when, she said tomorrow. I understand people call out but at least make the customer feel like you care or accommodate (ie, rescheduling over the phone or having the manager speak with the customer) to me this is very POOR customer service.

I love petco... its where my pets go...lol I mainly use there services vetco and soon my son will get his first hair cut and I'll let you know how they are with him. (Only made videos of his vetco visits so this is just a picture of him outside, I will update his picture after 11.20 his hair appointment with petco)

I normally try and stay away from big chain pet stores, but they had a sale on 75gal fish tanks. The crew even helped me move it with no hesitation very helpful. Please keep more people like Kevin....

Well stocked in our favorite cat food (although the price went up 10%). Check out person was very polite. Not crowded in the store and everyone was wearing a mask. I felt safe. This was my first in-store visit since start of pandemic. I had been ordering online before this visit. I would also like to point out that they had abbreviated hours that were not posted online. I had to return the next day after finding the store closed at 5:10 pm. They should make hour changes clear online.

What a friendly staff! The store is full of pets and supplies, well arranged and spacious. The pet grooming is popular- and fun to watch! With tons of fish, geckos, snakes, hamsters, mice, chinchillas, ferrets, and guinea pigs, there’s a pet for everyone. They have a great adoption area for those looking for kittens and pups.

The store is great 👍. They are more expensive than others but you get what you pay for. This is the place to buy toys for a large dog or a Pit. My pit was going through the big Walmart tires like they were nothing. The big tire I got at Petco has yet to be defeated. I Have had it for a year and no damages!. I Was spending $10 every 2 weeks so it was worth the extra money for the toy.

I have the Petco App but in Mexico. I wanted download the Petco App in USA but the setting in my phone didn't let me and the staff didn't do a lot for help us, so I think this buy won't have points. Also no one helped us to search my products and some brands don't be here, that's why I would have liked more product guidance

My family and I went here to buy a fish. I really appreciated the customer service - the thoroughness in which information was shared, the transparency of an algae bloom and by the specific tank was not currently in use and the product knowledge. I also appreciated the little things - the gravel was clean (no worms in it), the bettas were moved into the back where it is warmer. This will be the only place that I get fish from in the future.

Fairly nice selection of supplies, and the staff were friendly. I did not find the aquatic plants I was hoping to get, and the fish were not in the best condition (but that's not unusual for chain stores). Ended up going to a LFS farther away, but I would still come back here for regular supplies.

Have been going to this Petco for at least 10 years. Several employees are long time employees and it's nice to see them. Always find exactly what I'm looking for. On a rainy day, it's a fun and safe place to take my dogs to look around and greet people. Thank you for the good and nicely kept store.

This Petco had everything, it was amazing how they were stocked on so many things! I was a little shocked by how the lowest price for a small dog collar was 18 dollars but it was worth it because it looks so cute on her. I also like how they had a variety of little dog tags you can get engraved the same day you get it.

Ive been shopping here for years, and am in all the time now that I have a puppy. Staff has always been super helpful and knowledgable.I decided to review because I had a problem with a retractable leash that I bought here recently. I brought it back and the manager swapped it out for me with no hassle at all. It was a Petco brand product, and they stood behind it.No complaints, and I recommend!
