Really think this is the nicest pet store I've ever been to. I spent way too much time marvelling at the sheer selection of pretty and unique merchandise and sharing snaps with my friends. It looks like everything is chosen with care.I randomly found this shop by googling and calling everywhere for my dog's food that was sold out everywhere (even on all major websites!) I called Oliver's Collar and they had a few bags which I snagged.The shopowner is so sweet and since it was my first time there offered some locally baked treats. So generous! Will be back 100% even though its a little bit of a drive.I ended up buying a floral bandana and a magnet that looked like my dog (lol) in addition to the food.

My dog, Milo, turned three on 2/1, so my review is a little delayed - sorry about that! But WOW, amazing experience. This is the first time I’ve gotten him a dog cake for his birthday, and I will be going back to Oliver’s Collar for any pup birthday from here on it. The cake was decorated beautifully, and they even threw in a birthday cookie! I mean, the pictures speak for themselves. One thing I was worried about was whether or not the cake would upset his stomach, as he’s on a sensitive skin and stomach diet. But he didn’t get sick AT ALL. And he absolutely loved it! Super sweet staff, the store is incredible. Definitely worth a visit, and I can’t wait to order from them again.

After a terrible experience at Phydeaux in Chapel Hill, we decided to drive over to Oliver’s collar instead of giving our business to a place who makes people uncomfortable. I couldn’t have been happier that we chose Oliver’s!! The staff was friendly, the products were fabulous and they even gave my pups cookies! My birthday girl doggie also got a free birthday cookie!! We will definitely be back!

We have gotten birthday cakes for our Frenchie for the past 3 years from Oliver's Collar and we have always been satisfied with our customized requests. The orders are easy to place and are very affordable. They are always ready for pick up when scheduled. Great customer service. Our dog never has any negative reactions like an upset tummy and he enjoys every bite. The 3 tier cake is enough for him to enjoy for several days. Thanks Oliver's Collar for making our dog's birthday even more special!

We usually buy Donuts and duck feet here. Today is our dog's birthday, then we ordered two cake. One for him, one for his friend.Our dog's English name is Gauss, is the same as the famous mathematician Gauss (Yes, the Gauss of Gaussian distribution), then I said please if we could write some mathematical equations on birthday cake. And they write a lot, even perfectky wrote his Chinese name. The cake is pretty! About the taste…My dog super love the cake and ate them all!

I was looking to get a cute photo worthy (and tasty) dog cake for my pups 3rd bday! They really delivered! I wrote that his favorite color was red, he loves tennis balls, sticks and he is the god of lightening! They even have dog breed candles for your cake!! I saw mini pup cupcakes as well and snagged a few of those! For it being my first time they went all out and gifted me a happy bday dog treat and a bag of treats! Very pleasant experience and we will be back! @iamzeus_thegod

I ordered a 4-inch cake for my puppy’s 1st gotcha day. I just told them my puppy’s name was from the Nintendo Switch game and they made a superb cake! I think my puppy love it very much! Will definitely come back in future!

Love this store! Friendly staff, great selection of products plus a fabulous in-house bakery. Got an amazing pineapple cake for our dog’s gotcha day - can’t wait to go back for our other dogs gotcha day cake!EDIT: our custom watermelon cake was also perfect! Love this place and the people!

Everything you could want in a pet store. A small up charge for similar products at a chain store, but well worth it for the experience and joy of supporting a local business. They have a huge selection, and more options than other pet stores. I loved that there were so many brain teasers for dogs to choose from, and the baked goods are so fun. My pup tore straight into the bag when I got home, and she loved all of the cookies I got her. The attendant at the register was so helpful and kind. I will definitely be back. God help my poor wallet. 😂

My wife and I have been going to Oliver's Collar since fall 2019 when Kaya came to live with us. For her "Gotcha Day" this year, we got her a cupcake and a toy from Oliver's and she loved them both. She was a bit skeptical of the cupcake at first but then she tucked in and ate every last bit. Everyone at Oliver's has been great help anytime we've needed recommendations. I highly recommend this local business.

We have been celebrating our pups birthdays with Oliver's Collar for years and they never disappoint! We live almost an hour away and make it a fun birthday tradition every year to grab some goodies and pick up the birthday cake! This year they went above and beyond! I ordered a 4inch cake and a cupcake for my dog. Make up for his birthday and also for Halloween. My dog ate almost all the cake at once. The only reason he didn't finish them all is I tried a small part of the cake myself. First, the cake was so cute just as my instruction and I was totally satisfied with how it looked. Second, my dog liked it and I also tried the cake. It was fresh, soft and delicious. Third, eating the whole cake didn't upset my German Shepherd dog's stomach. I was a little bit worried at first since this breed has such a sensitive stomach.

We've been through six months of cancer hell with our Standard Poodle Dusky, so when she turned 10 this week, we wanted to do something special. Oliver's Collar were wonderful and helpful people who made the perfect cake to celebrate Dusky's strength and perseverance. God willing, we will buy another cake for her next Birthday. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

I like the idea of an independent store that specifically tailors its merchandize to pets (dogs, cats), and I would gladly support such a retail store. However, I have been to this store a number of times, I am NEVER greeted, rarely thanked, and the manager seems to not care about clients. I work in customer service, and I know that customers need to a.) be greeted as soon as they enter the store, b.) be asked "What can I help you find today for your dog (or cat)?" c.) customer needs to be told "Come back and visit us soon" and "THANK YOU!" For the record: I was the only customer in the store at the time. That said, they've got great products.

This is my go to shop for all my dog treats including bully sticks to pigs ears to donuts, and cupcakes for my pups! Just celebrated my two dogs birthdays and they each received a cupcake which they devoured the deliciousness!

When I ordered a birthday cake for my dog, I was doubtful that my picky eater would want to eat it, but I thought there was no harm in trying this bakery out. I requested that the cake design be up to the staff... I expected it to be good, but it was beautiful! A better looking cake than I've ever had for even my own birthday! When it was time for my dog to eat it... the beautiful designs on the cake were no more! The world's pickiest dog loved it! Can't recommend this shop enough.

I wish I could give no stars. Went in to make purchases for my two pups. Was not greeted at all by the person working. Not even asked if we needed help looking for anything. As we left, a Caucasian female entered and was greeted immediately. This blatant disrespect was obvious. You lost what could have been a regular customer over your implicit bias.Yes. Really. Your employee looked me in my face and said NOTHING. The time I spent in this store NOTHING WAS SAID. I was watched but not one word uttered. As an owner who has a "rainbow of customers," this is not the type of response that would encourage me to return. I'll pray for your success but no thank you.Maybe your perception of your own employees is the issue here. How is it that there is a refusal to accept that a customer was not greeted by but easier for you to assume that my perception was the issue? We've been loyal customers of Oliver's Collar for about 5 years. I have never had a bad experience in any regard. My dogs love trips to the store and are always greeted by the most kind and courteous staff. We recently began using their DIY grooming room. It is easily the best place in Durham to go if you want to groom your dog in a quiet, private, very clean, and very professional setting. For just 22.00 everything is included - including aprons, clean white towels, and treats for your pup. You can also bring your own products and brushes, which is what we do. There is a sink and hand soap for you to use after you finish up grooming. It's in the back of the store but still feels open and spacious - it has always smelled so clean and lovely when we've arrived. Today, we took our 6 month old (63 lb) NewfiePoo who has thick and fluffy Doodle hair after taking our nearly 9 year old Golden-Mix last weekend. I am impressed with the high quality dryer they provide - it really has power and dries relatively quickly and it works very well on both coat types. The process is always so quick and simple, and I never feel rushed or pressured - my dogs can relax too. I can't recommend or compliment this business enough. They help make pet ownership a joyful experience. ♡

The owner Kahli Shapiro made this an absolutely HORRIBLE experience which warranted me writing a review.I ordered a cake for my dog’s 16th birthday and called the shopped to ask questions about what type of information was needed for the decorations. The gentleman said I could send an email with some questions.In the email I included “As far as the decorations goes, I’m not entirely sure if I know what’s the difference between boyish and bones/paws. If possible, I’d like to stick colors to the blue, white, gold, and/or black and say something like happy 16th birthday? I’m not sure which would look the best. He’s a yorkie with black body and a golden-brown face.” And followed up with “Thank you so much and feel free to call or email if you need any additional information.” I expected some sort of dialogue to start up about the customization but only received the response of “I will add your notes to your cake order”. I have never ordered a dog cake from here before and their order form is not detailed at all. They didn’t ask what base, piping color or the orientation of the text but I assumed from the websites examples and review photos there would be a standard quality of work.My main issue is the “16th birthday” on the second tier is a bit difficult to read. I wished they had made 16 larger so it would stand out. Additionally there isn’t any accent color piping distinguishing the different tiers but this was included in every example photo on their website and reviews.Normally I wouldn’t ask for any changes but I didn’t think scrapping off the icing to rewrite the words more legible would have been SUCH AN INCONVENIENCE. But it was to Kahli. I called to see if I could bring the cake back by driving 30 minutes, if they would rewrite the words. Kahli kept saying reiterating that the “order has been completed” and that “she would not be doing that”. She came off completely rude and disregarded the fact that that I wasn’t satisfied because “the order was filled to her satisfaction”. I understand that I’m not entitled to changes but I wasn’t looking for for a refund or to remake the order.However, she didn’t have to berate my request and read my email out to me like I was some sort of idiot. Telling me that the order was mad with the instructions that were given is just belittling. I should have been more specific and provided a reference photo from their own website to ensure that I get an order of a certain quality. I assumed giving them creative freedom wouldn’t mean I would be getting a cake of lower standards. Comparatively to the photos that they used as their examples for advertising, this cake was not a good.TLDR: This is not a business that values their customers’ satisfaction. I would not recommend this place to anybody even for non customized baked goods. I support small businesses but the customer service and the owners attitude is a good reason to STAY AWAY.

Oliver's Collar has been a neighborhood favorite of mine for several years. I found them years ago before they moved to their current location and make it a point when I am in the area to pick up dog food, treats and a baked good or two for my pups.The staff greets you when you arrive and the store is spacious and well organized. Parking is plenty and the store always smells fresh.So why did I only give it 4 stars? On at least 4 occasions over the last year I have found myself being charged a price that is higher than what is marked on the item. I get that sometimes errors happen at any store where the price in the system is different or has yet to be updated.When it happens once or twice I can overlook it but when it happens more than that it is concerning to me and make me wonder why. As a person who watches their money BUT also likes to buy local it is simply annoying. I will say that when I have noticed it and re-entered the store or brought it to the sales associate's attention, they are apologetic and do what they can to reconcile it/make it right, but at other times, I am with my dogs or already at home and the idea of unloading the pups, grabbing the items and the receipt all for a dollar or two or less seems unreasonable and unnecessarily tiring.I will probably continue to shop there because I believe in their mission, but I will watch my receipt closely.

I visited here today and the lady was so nice and even gave me samples of food to try for my fur baby. He’s usually picky when it comes to certain treats so I was delighted he loved them and it didn’t upset his stomach.

Such a cute place. I came upon this gem going to Harris Teeter. I love the fact that you bake cakes specially for our dogs. I can't wait to get my dog his own birthday cake for his birthday in April. I got my dog some sandwich cookies yesterday and he ate them right up.

Love, love, LOVE this store! It's so important for us to all support local businesses and Oliver's Collar is a fantastic, comprehensive pet store. They have a great selection of toys, food, treat, cakes, ice cream, etc. Staff always goes above and beyond for their customers as well. So recommend to anyone in the Triangle!
