They are really pushing the self service check out! There was only one line open with a cashier!! There was another cashier training customers on the self-checkout. There was customer hesitantion at self checkout. Companies need to find a common medium for customers. What's going to happen to the cashier positions 🤔?

I visit this location yesterday. I was greeted by "Jermeine " Jermaine" he worked in the deli dpt. He helped me with everything on my list. I was checked out by a friendly cashier name Red. This store gave me excellent customer service.

I drive a few miles out of the way to come to this Food Lion @Lakewood,I come to this store at least 3 to5 times a week for me and or my best friend,I have come to know many of the employees and they are so friendly I absolutely love coming here,🌹THANK ALL OF LAKEWOOD FOOD LIONS EMPLOYEES YOU ALL ARE APPRECIATED 🌹

Clean, easily found all the items I needed, friendly staff, and plenty of staff for the cash registers. Self checkout is also an option. Great experience.

Store is dated. But they're working hard, preparing for a major renovation. Every employee we encountered was welcoming. Bathroom was spotless.

I shop here every week. I bought groceries at 10 am this morning, got home and checked my receipt, and they had scanned 5 of an item I only got 4 of, and I had 4 6-packs of Pepsi and 3 energy drinks that were on sale that did not ring correctly. I just went back and had to stand in line to get it straightened out. THEN the person at customer service messed up the return and only refunded me $16.02 when the total error was over $20 (she charged me $1 more per pack of Pepsi than she should have). Instead of making the people behind me continue to wait even longer, I just walked off without the $4+. This is not ok, and not what I'm used to at this location.

UPDATE: THEY HAVE ADDED A SELF CHECKOUT AND IT IS GLORIOUS!!! FOOD LION, THE KING OF ALL GROCERY STORES!!Food Lion is the heart of this neighborhood. Yes they need a self checkout, yes there are never enough clerks at the registers and the wait is needlessly long. But the shelves are stocked and the prices are low - Food Lion has been a brave bulwark against commodity inflation, unlike “chicken is for rich people only” Harris Teeter. We might not have the fanciest cheeses here, there might not be a “fish department”, the wine selection might rival only gas stations; but I will go to Food Lion over Highprice Teeter any day of my life. Thank you, Food Lion, for bringing affordable food to this neighborhood - and long may your pride rule the savannas of the Durham food desert.

There's a first for everything. Leaving the store thinking, "well, the cashier was racist", has never crossed my mind before. To be given "the look" up and down, then given a disgusted face, and be treated/ spoken to rudely is not how anyone's grocery store experience should go.

The cashier was talking to someone in line behind me and commenting on her piece of chicken like ewwww girl go get me a piece and when she wouldn't she closed her register and went to get it her self which i mean whatever i was done but the other 10 people in line didn't like it for some reason...

Reasonably priced groceries and always have a bunch of cashiers. The deli there is great..especially the cakes..they are decorated so beautifully.

The store was only able to accept cash & EBT. I asked why wasn’t a sign posted at the door instead of inconveniencing customers, waisting time to shop only to be told their method of payment isn’t accepted at the current time. I was told a sign cost a lot of money to post😒Common sense will tell you to post a temporary sign at the door, handwritten that is, but I guess there isn’t much common sense here🤷🏽♀️

I had a very pleasant experience here today! I was greeted by a very kind and nice gentleman, Parker. He was very helpful and attentive. We chatted for a little and by the end of it, we hugged! He was one of the sweetest people I’ve met since moving to Durham. The other employees there were very friendly and helpful as well. :)

A big change in cleanliness and cashiers. Enough lanes open to get in and out FAST. NO GROUCHY EMPLOYEES TO DEAL WITH.EDIT::::**June 9, 2021**NOTE: My favorite person is the PRODUCE person (Greg Rigsbee). He is the most cheerful and helpful employee. He actually split my watermelon in half to make sure it was ripe. Something that has never been done for me. I immediately informed the supervisor and she agreed that he is always like that. Pure perfection for a grocery store.My opinion and mine only!! STARS all around for this store

Cashier was super rude, when I explained to her I couldn't hear anything she was saying past the floor polishing machine, she shrugged her shoulder and stated it wasn't her problem. That's something should be done before or after the store closes. Also the screen was jumbled together and she got really upset when I asked her the total. I'll drive out of my way to avoid this store in the future.

On more than 1 occasion, cashier didn't speak to me, but sure cheered up when the next customer checked outThey got an enthusiastic "hi, how are you?". Both our money was green, but that doesnt matter to this staff. Take some of us locals for granted. Spending my money elsewhere for now.

The customer service and the people that work there are some of the best however, inventory is the most lacking of all the Food Lions in Durham, the produce is the least fresh, and the deli cooked food is the nastiest, the store is the dirtiest. If it wasn't for the great people that work there I would give this store 1 star.

If the apocalypse happens, this is the store you will want to be trapped in, with the crew that works here. They are so friendly and kind every time I come in, which is a few times a week. I’ve seen them deal unwaveringly patient with all manner of difficult customers over the years. If you happen to get trapped at Whole Foods during an apocalypse, you’re out of luck. Everyone will be eaten by day 2. Food Lion...different story. It’s always nice to come in here.

BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER!!I have been to this foodlion several times and I have been apart of and also witness very bad customer service from the " Customer Service Manager- Corey Clegg". I believe he is a hard worker but he does not have the "People" skills to hold that position. I'm sure he would be a good manager over items and not people, because of him I will not be returning. He rolled his eyes, his tone and body language is AWFUL! He was very rude to me and others...overall just he DOES NOT provide good customer service!

Best food lion in the triad!!! Always have fresh produce!!store is always clean and always stocked. Best food lion hands down been this way for years I do not grocery shop anywhere else but HERE!!! I been shopping here since I was 16 and they never let me down

Terrific Food Line. The Manager, Ms. Greene, was very helpful and friendly in fulfilling a special request. Good stock of fresh vegetables and good prices throughout. Highly recommend this store and its staff!!!

Just had an awful experience @ Lakewood Store 27707. This is not the 1st time. This store has the Worst Customer Service. Was not only snapped at by a cashier when she opened a new line ( I let the lady in front of me go, being polite) she then came back and called me over like a dog. The cashier I had was busy talking to coworkers and other customers. If I hadn't said hello and goodbye she would not have even acknowledged me. Avoid this store, it's worth driving to the one on Hillsborough Rd or Woodcroft.
