We had a family of 4 go tubing from the Danbury general store. We took one kayak to the insertion point and then rented 3 tubes (basic inner tubes). We had a FANTASTIC day on the river. Relaxing with just the right amount of excitement getting around the rocks. We liked that they shuttled you up to the starting spot so that you could spend as long as you liked on the river before coming back to your starting point. When we do it again we will leave the kayak at home because it navigated differently on the river than the tubes and we accidently dumped ot once. Beautiful scenery and even though there were lots of tubers on the river it didn't feel packed because we could all spread out.Update: 6 years later we have tubed every year since then with this company! It is a family must do event each year! We all rent tubes and just rent the basic tubes and a cooler tube. We always take a rope to tie us up together. Everyone is always very friendly and helpful and it’s always a perfect family activity!

This is a review specifically of the newly re-opened Grill/Diner attached to the Danbury General Store.We stopped in for a late lunch because we were starving, and while the decor and ambience are extremely basic, the food and service were exceptional. I definitely recommend getting whatever the owners say is homemade or a daily special -- that's the good stuff, especially Italian and Italian American dishes.

Was in the area for a hike and managed to stumble upon this hidden gem of a spot. The food was very affordable and was absolutetly amazing. Both the owner and his daughter were incredibly friendly and a pleasure to talk to as well. For anyone in the area I cannot reccomend this place highly enough and cannot wait to go back again!

What a disappointment. I used to love this place but it's gone under. If you're going to serve food to the public, at least make it edible. Not everyone wants pineapple and weirdo stuff all over their food. Kitchen staff is not helpful in the least. Thanks for the beef jerky for dinner I guess

We very much liked the grill. My partner was a huge fan of the smashburger. I had a quesadilla, which was served with salsa AND guacamole! They also have breakfast items like sandwiches, biscuits and gravy, etc. Prices are very affordable.We'll be back when we return to Hanging Rock State Park.

PLEASE NOTE: They have their business listed as a gas station. It is NOT a gas station! Gas is not available, there are no gas pumps. It is a small convenient /general store.

A friend and I took our two kids each tubing on the Dan river through the general Dan today and it was great. They have safety protocols in place to make check in smooth and efficient as well as safe during the coronavirus. Our tubes were great, comfortable, and sturdy. Although the water was slightly low, the trip was fun and safe for our young kids. It took about three hours which is exactly what the staff predicted. we will be back!

Went tubing Saturday with 6 friends and it was awesome! The river was perfect and the weather was perfect. Would suggest taking the long trip if you have a whole day, you won't regret it. Take the bug spray and sun screen. Thanks to the General Store for an great adventure.Went tubing Saturday with 8 friends (should be church group) and it was awesome! The river was perfect and the weather was perfect again. Do need sun screen, but no bugs this year. Thanks again to the General Store for another great adventure.

The staff was very nice and informative. This was our first time tubing. I would suggest that if you go, the river needs to be deeper and flow better. Got hung on rocks. Wear good shoes. Very slippery.

A group of friends and I have tubed the Dan River from this location many times, for many years. The tubes are always in good shape, the price is good and the buses they use to shuttle you are always in good shape and clean, and have AC. The staff is pleasant.However, something HAS to be done about the check in/registration process. This has been a habitual problem with this location- they take debit/cc cards, but the man has to take the cards inside the store (across the parking lot) to process them....which can take as long 5 minutes. And they do not move on to the next customer during this wait time. So, you can see how this would greatly affect your wait time to get on the water! They can have as much as 2 full buses of people in line (like today) and they STILL only have one person doing registration- on the fourth of July, a very, very busy day for the establishment. We were in line for 2 hours waiting to pay/register. And it's HOT.Its very frustrating and has made our group decide to try tubing from another location-simply because of the lack of staff and proper procedure for registration. If we learn that they change the current system or have an online pre-registration form that helps expedite the process, we'd be very glad to return to the business for future float trips.I hope that a new procedure is established and announced....so that we can return to our traditional float location.

Stopped in on a whim trying to get a sandwich before hiking hanging rock, for 4.79 this club sandwich was great!Over heard some locals saying the burgers and Philly cheesesteaks were great too, I’ll have to give that a try my next time through.

Showed up for a tubing trip and they were closed with no explanation. Looks kinda fly by night in a gas station. Probably best to call ahead of time to see if they are open. There is another operator about a 100 meters down the road that looked super sketch but ran a good operation.

Under new management. New owner was rude. Condescending to his cashier, let the door slam in our faces when he went out the door. None of the employees in the store were wearing masks and neither were most of the customers. Only good thing to say was they had a decent beer selection. I'll be taking my business to the store up the road.

I had to go to Court in Danbury today (THANK GOD IN HEAVEN THIS IS A RARE OCCURENCE BECAUSE I WAS THERE ALL DAY). We stopped here during the lunch break and I got 2 cheeseburgers and a 20oz. bottle of Coke was like $11. Pretty pricey but it was good food. They were out of lettuce I work in a restaurant so o understand. Good food cool little store next door with handmade soap and $2 DVDS. I'll go back

I went tubing Sunday Aug, 12 th 2018 with a church group. I had looked forward to it for weeks. It was about 15 of us. We all signed the release forms and then got in line to pay. I paid $12 for a regular black tube then after I paid went in the little general store to use the restroom and came straight back. When I got back they had done a count and 1 person from our group hadn't paid. The man that owned it immediatly pointed at me and accused me of not paying. I told him I paid and he didn't believe me and embrassed me in front of the whole group. The one that didn't pay came to pay. He never apologized he ruined my trip. I don't have a lot of money to do extra things like that and then to be treated like that was horrible. Whatever you do if you go tubing ask for a receipt. I'll never go back there. That's no way to treat anybody.

Lots of fun tubing down the Dan River!!! Friendly people, quality tubes... all you need is sunscreen, snacks and beverages. This is one of our favorite summertime activities!

I called to ask questions about tubing and they were very rude. I called the number on the google listing. The girl wasn’t friendly and said call the other number and hung up. I have used this place many times over the years but will not be going back. Customer service is key.
