We had an unforgettable boating experience on the New River! Even though the weather in late March was nice, the water was definitely chilly – a lesson I learned firsthand after taking a spill in some class-II rapids.Thankfully, Dustin advised us to pack dry clothes in a waterproof bag, which was a lifesaver! We quickly changed after my dip, and his crew picked us up. We even had a heartwarming encounter with a kind stranger who helped us get to a road where Dustin could find us. Dustin's commitment didn't stop there – he even recovered a bag we lost in the spill.Overall, a fantastic experience. We'll definitely consider coming back in the summer to conquer those rapids again!

Affordable beautiful kayaking! Kindest people ever, they upgraded us to a deluxe kayak when we initially payed for a longer trip and had to change it due to the weather. Also very informative about when the rapids were on the trip and how to maneuver them, though they ended up being very calm and no problem at all!

This business is run so well and was so accomodating pre season. The kayaks are high end and comfortable, the river is pristine, and service in and out wonderful. Can't say enough good about this! Thank you!

If you want to ride down a calm river in the middle of nature to free your mind: this is just the place! Super friendly owner who makes the experience even better, thank you Dustin.The only negative i could state is the road leading to the DTO, which is a little inconvient for a normal car but it’s not too big of a deal.

I've been twice now to Dusty Trails Outfitters and both times we had an amazing time on the river. Dustin is a local and knows the river very well and he and his team are the best we have used. I've been with some of the bigger outfits in the area and will never paddle the river with anyone other than Dusty Trails Outfitters. My family is already talking about our next trip!

Dusty’s is our favorite place to camp. He offers huge sites, where you can have privacy or have several campers on one site. The sites are on the New River and you have beautiful scenery. Dusty and his staff are very kind and knowledgeable of the river. They are always willing to offer their help.

I’ve been 3 times so far and brought new people each time. Great trips, good equipment, and good guys to help you. Stayed in the campsites. Each with it’s own clean porta-potty. Will definitely go back again.

We called Dustin the morning we wanted to kayak and we arranged a time to start at 1:00 pm. We rented two deluxe kayaks and started on a 3 hour float trip - putting in at the 221 Access Point at New River State Park and floating back to the Dusty Trail location on Garvey Road. The Trip was so beautiful and peaceful - we saw wildlife along the river bank, enjoyed to small rapids, and stopped on a small island for lunch. The Deluxe Kayaks were a good choice for me and my wife since we both stuggle with lower back pain. Dustin is a great guy....has is a native to the area and is business is only a few years old, but is very friendly and appreciative of your business. He is just starting his family and is exactly the type of business I like to visit! Great time! Go see Dustin and he'll hook you up on a great adventure!

Absolutely great campsite and great service by Dustin! The campsites are huge! DTO’s river gear was in great tip top shape. For medical reasons we are skittish about where we go and how we go places during the pandemic. We noticed, appreciate, and are thankful for DTO’s efforts to keep their customers safe during this pandemic.

Our family of 4 adults had a phenomenal time! Dustin the owner accommodated us coming later in the day (4pm) when many other companies would not put you in the water after 2pm.The price was significantly less than competitors as well. The experience was great all the way around. River was a good temperature, boats in great shape, and scenery was awesome!We will definitely be coming back!

We did the short kayaking trip and had a wonderful experience. The staff is great and very helpful. The section of the river is beautiful and makes for a fun trip. There was one mild rapid that was fun and easy to navigate. We are looking forward to going again soon!

Passed by and saw a few people tubing the New River. Called Dusty Trails the next morning and made a reservation for our group of 10 to go tubing. The staff was amazing and so friendly. Everyone, ages 5-40, had a great time.

Dusty Trails is a fantastic outfitter with tubes, kayaks, portage services, t shirts etc. The best part of this service is Dustin. A huge younger man, salt of the earth guy. I highly recommend floating Dustin's section of the New River!

Favorite place to go on the new river ! Great prices , they beat all the competition for sure, geeat options , tubing , kayaking, canoeing,fishing, and even camping, and im sure they give rides to ppl with their own equipment, multiple trips to choose from too! great service everytime! And great ppl ! Very friendly, helpful and informative about the area .great part of the river for kids too.. ask about the waterfall that's basically hidden in plain sight , it's beautiful and a nice addition to the trip for sure! I would definitely recommend dusty trails Outfitters for those and so many more reasons and I've been to almost all the surrounding kayaking and tubing places throughout the last few years and this one is our absolute favorite by far! Will definitely be going back soon ! Oh and they have added a little gift shop as well with great souvenirs, quality hats, t-shirts, tumblers, ect...ice cream /snacks for the ride.

I was scheduled for the intermediate kayak trip but the area got tons of rain the night before, making the river unsafe at my scheduled time. The owner was in constant contact about timing and was able to get me in later when it was safe. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Can’t wait to boom with them again in the future!

My husband and I enjoyed our first kayaking trip on The New River. Dusty was recommended by a local and he didn’t disappoint! He’s off the beaten path but well worth the few extra minutes from where we were staying. We were very comfortable in the “deluxe” kayaks. Dusty gave us great advice, so we knew what to expect. The section of the New River was perfect for us, as it provided just the right amount of rapids for our first time kayaking. We parked our car and he drove us to the area where we put in. Then we kayaked back to our car. We chose the 3-hour trip and it was exactly what we needed. We can’t wait to do it again!

Technically, the season hasn’t even started, but Dusty Trails was able to take care of us. Be sure to call ahead (as much lead time as possible). We did not (my mistake), but they already had another group going out the same day, so we were fortunate they were able to accommodate us. We went on the Intermediate trip, and the water was moving due to recent rainfall and was higher than normal. It was a great trip! I would highly recommend Dusty Trails to anyone wanting to kayak in the area!

Had a great time! My wife and I went when the water was a bit low. It was our first time and he walked us through the pros and cons of all the different kayaks. Both me and my wife agree that the sit on kayaks performed much better than the sit-in type (we tried both). The 3 hour trip took us about 2 hours and 30 minutes. Next time we will wait for the water to be higher, but we still had a blast. Great place to try it out!

For the hell of a time 2020 has been, I can honestly say that the best days I managed to have this year were provided by Dusty. My friends and I have gone on two 4 hour float trips with them this summer and every person on staff is so incredibly friendly and inviting.Their prices are much better than competitors in the area, and in my opinion, the part of the river you float on is also more enjoyable. All of their floats also come with backs which helps make a long trip comfortable!If you’re fortunate to take your shuttle with Dusty’s father in law (I’m so sorry I forget his name), then you are in for an additional treat, as he gives you a great overview of the history of the river, the wildlife, and the general area.It’s too bad summer is basically over, but we will definitely be patronizing Dusty’s again next summer!
