We had a small litter of kittens with a mama that we took care of for a while. After a while, we put the family in a small cage and brought the here. The lady was super compassionate and gave me 5 minutes to say my goodbyes to the kittens. I still miss them to this day, but at least I have a few pics of them.

If I could give zero stars I definitely would.I took my dog into surrender him because unfortunately circumstances changed, and it was already hard enough for me to have to surrender him….. not only was the staff member rude on the phone. The staff member was extremely rude when I walked in and accused me of “neglecting” him which was 100% FALSE!!!!! a hound is a skinner type breed. And he ate better than I did 99% of the time. The staff member yelled at me until I was in tearsIf it ever comes to having to surrender your fur baby I definitely do not recommend this place..

I have two stray dogs that has been at my house for over a month and I cannot get animal control to do anything.

We are lucky to have a team that works for us at Animal Control in Ashe County. They are so reliable, and we should take time out to let them know when we use their services. They are great about calling you back if they aren't in the office, and the they do their best to keep our neighborhoods safe from stray and dangerous dogs. Thank You Ashe County Animal Control!!

A few months ago I was working in downtown west Jefferson. There was a stray dog on the sidewalk, he was trying to go into several of the businesses and acting very lethargic and had mucus coming from its mouth. I took the lead on the situation and with the help from one of our police officers we got the dog tied up, brought him food and water and found him a shady spot to sit in while we contacted animal control. The police officer made the call the animal control, he was floored and beyond mad when he heard what the agent's (Joe Testerman) response was. " it is Sunday, it will be at least a couple of hours by the time I get my uniform on to come check on this dog, it is probably a dog that lives in the area".So, thank you but no thank you, I will never call animal control of ashe county for anything.

This operation is a waste of county money, and they don't respond to any animal cruelty calls. Don't waste your time calling these incompetent clowns. As to why we have them, is beyond me. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT ANIMALS.
