Beautiful animals, beautiful people who volunteer to preserve the quality of life of these species, my favorite animal in this place is the fox, but they are all cute, specially the cats around and the noisy peacock😅 a new feature that I find out in my last visit was the shop, they have awesome herbs for you to make tea and baths or even for the smell.

Absolutely love supporting this place. It’s a rescue with love. Please respect their rules as they work hard to keep all their babies safe and healthy. The lady up front is always a pleasure to talk to and they carry loose leaf/flowers to make your own tea which I go at least once a month to stock up because I know it’s going to a good cause.

Love the animals! This is the place you just want to keep coming back and see your “old friends”. It’s noisy and baby can learn animal sounds.Favorites: 1. Jalapeño and all the other birds 2. Free roaming Pigs 3. Rufus and Carl.Already asked, Jalapeño is not up for adoption. (He lost some more feathers, he loves the attention and connection with people.)

Truly one of the most unique animal sanctuaries I've ever been to. With water bottles and restrooms insight, this establishment clearly puts effort into making the lives of these exquisite animals the most that they can be, with a good amount of freedom for each of them, while keeping everyone safe. My husband and I were in awe of how many different kinds of exotic birds there were, each with a different song. Jalepino the bird was so friendly and happy to hop on our shoulders, the animals were happy and interactive, and the signage was very helpful in identifying what different species we were looking at. We loved the funny little monkeys, and prairie dogs trying to teach us how to dig a proper hole (seriously!). Overall, I'd say this is one of those, "so close to home, you just gotta see it to believe it" kind of places. What a beautiful way to spend a perfect Sunday afternoon! Thanks for bringing the magic back to our lives!

Cory is a great host, super nice and easy going. We camped here for one night and had a great time. Animals are of huge varieties, and are taken good care of, they are active and people friendly. We look forward to coming back! Thank you Cory!

This has become one of our favorite places, we try to go at least once per month. People is very nice, animals are beautiful and very entretaining. Some are rescue animals, so its nice to see they have another chance at life. It surprises us with something new every time!! From the monkey copying us, to the parrot saying "hello, hi", the nice fat cat guarding the reptiles, to Isaac running to us so we can feed and pet him and more!!! Wonderful time!!!

This animal sanctuary is a true labour of love. I am in awe at the small staff yet how well the animals are cared for. Every exquisite animal (carnivores excluded) had their own carefully cut fresh produce. It must have taken hours just to prepare their breakfast. The water bowls were clean even the ones outside and the pens were free of odors. The animal themselves had such wonderful personalities. From the pig that followed me around trying to squeeze in tight spaces, the tortoises that came to visit me and my favorite the monkey who played peek a boo. (Yes really) The cats and kittens (available for adoption) including a beautiful orange kitten who was the most affectionate cat I have ever met. He would make a wonderful cat especially for someone who needs company. There are python snakes, sloths geckos, an alligator, a camel, horses goats. As you walk to the back of the property it gets more exciting.I could have spent 4 hours here just enjoying the animals though it was very cold today. It’s worth a trip and consider a donation if you can. The sanctuary is definitely a place worth investing in.

Super laid back animal experience! Great for families. Not super stroller friendly though, but fun anyway! The only thing I’d mention is the parking…the dirt road leading to the entry has deep holes and uneven ground, and you have to back in on grass/dirt, so it was hard to get in and by other cars who didn’t pull up enough. We also didn’t see a lot of staff or get to feed any animals because they were out of feed - maybe next time!

Our family absolutely loved it here! So many opportunities to interact with animals you really never get to interact with- kangaroos, tortoises, an emu, pot-bellied pigs, a camel. There were so many amazing creatures to see! They are clearly well-cared for in every way. The employees around the sanctuary were all so friendly and you could tell they cared so much about the animals. We will definitely be back again!

This is one of the places you have to visit while you're in north Carolina. The staff are very nice and helpful, and offered to answer any questions about the 200+ on-site animal rescues. Some of the rescues include a coyote, foxes, all different kinds of monkeys, various types of birds and reptiles, a kangaroo, anteater, ostriches, a camel, and lots of friendly free roaming cat and dog friends. I'm from Massachusetts, but I can't wait to come back for another visit!

If you are looking for an adventure where life and spirits are true, call Cory and camp here! We took a troop of 12 Boy Scouts. They absolutely loved it and we did too. There are roaming pigs and peacocks and dogs. They all live in harmony with the other exciting animals! What an experience and the hostess is amazing. Everyone here works so hard and is so kind. Did I mention there are also roaming kangaroos. This place was very busy today. I wish it were that busy every day. She doesn’t advertise commercially so it’s mostly by word of mouth and a little social media. I really do love how she took the time to put out some flowers and make it look like home. There is a swing set and a place for a picnic. What an extraordinary place! You must visit!

Great experience with our grandkid's appreciation of the wide variety of wildlife. They especially loved interacting with the rather large and friendly tortoises roaming around the sanctuary. We had opportunity to take alot of pictures and videos of the grandkid's interaction with the wildlife, creating a album that we will forever appreciate. The staff were very friendly, and personalized our visit by introducing us to their new exhibit - baby crocodiles! We saw many new project starts and recently finished exhibits.Heed the warnings signs and keep the required distances posted on the exhibit.Great place to create a memorable family experience. Highly recommend.

Amazing place! So much fun and loved how we could interact with the animals. We went today even on a colder day many of the animals were out. We can’t wait to go back on a warmer day to see the kangaroos and visit all the animals once again!

What a great place!!! I brought my nineteen year old daughter and her friends with me. They did not really seem interested about going but that quickly changed once we got there. They loved it! The staff was wonderful and very knowledgeable. You can tell all of the animals are very well taken care of too. I'll definitely be going back!

Amazing visit!! Get up close to some of your favorite animals! A definite must see if you are in the area. There are so many different animals! Otters, monkeys, lemurs, horses, pigs, tons of birds, porcupines, foxes, bunnies and more. I was thoroughly surprised and delighted by the different animals. The enclosures are more natural than a regular zoo and you can get much closer. I loved watching the lemurs jump around they are so cute! There are also Kangaroo's that usually roam free on the grounds. The trails aren't very walker friendly (walker like assistive device), lots of rocks. But the paths are cared for and it's beautiful and peaceful. I will definitely be going back.

Wonderful afternoon with the animal, reptiles, fish, and marsupials. Great way to support our unwanted animal friends in the Raleigh/ Durham area. The birds were especially friendly. You can tell they are used to people. Starving for human interaction. One flew onto my shoulder and didn’t want to leave. They were talking, dancing, and showing off!! Such fun! This sanctuary was purchased by a group in another state and was relocated here. This was a defunct private zoo which is still under repair. Please support this kind, warm hearted endeavor through volunteer work, supplies (ask), and donations. This is a great educational experience for this area and needs local support. Veterinarian support is a wonderful idea, too.I would suggest the directors post needs for animal care on Amazon. They can get cleaning supplies, food, etc. make it very convenient to donate supplies.

Had an absolutely fabulous time with the family and will definitely be frequent flyers! We especially loved the otters, singing dog, artic fox & reptiles. The animals and staff were so kind & informative and you could truly tell they loved helping the animals have such a wonderful home as this. The gift shop was one of the best I've seen with both stuffed animals, interactive experiences & everyday useful items. Can't wait to return ☺️

My boyfriend and I came for the first time today and I’ve never been so overjoyed with a excursion! We had so much fun getting to meet all the animals that were rescued or surrendered, they all have so much love and you can tell how much they care for them! We were going to go to North Carolina Zoo but I saw this place and decided to try it out. We will be back!

My guests (4 kids, ages 5 thru 11) and I thoroughly enjoyed the up-close & interactive experience. Before entering the gate, as you arrive you will encounter horses, donkeys, and an actual camel. After entering, you walk along paths with loose kangaroos, peacocks, emus, and pigs. There is a cute gift shop on site with feed and affordable souvenirs for all ages. Staff are accessible and helpful all throughout the experience. We got to see a live-in staff member (perhaps the owner?) feed & interact with animals in such a kind way. She educated us & dispelled myths about bats - in which there are several and multiple species on site. There are plenty of places in the sun or shade to sit and relax, e.g. bistro tables, picnic tables, porch swings, and free standing hammocks place throughout - which was a welcomed treat. There is also a playground and easily accessible full bathroom along the trail. You'll find a cooler full of bottled water for only a dollar each. There are three indoor exhibits, and the rest is outdoors. There are enough trees throughout to find shade. They are even about six dogs that come out in the evening - 1 giant yet sweet deaf albino dog, a poodle, two basset hounds, and 2 other breeds.

Wonderful experience at this animal sanctuary. All sorts of rescue and rehab animals to see. You can interact and/or get up close with pigs, sloths, a camel, exotic birds, horses, etc. There are even kangaroos that roam freely, although they don't want guests to approach them. Allow at least 1 hour. Lots of uneven terrain as you walk around as this is a natural environment. Restrooms available, although they're a bit aged but, since this facility depends on the entry fees and donations to take care of all these animals, I would say they are putting the funds in the right place.
