My sister, mom and I visited the Whitaker farm in Climax, NC on a sunny day in August 2023. What a treat! The grounds are well kept and beautiful including a pond beside the farm store. The store had lots of produce and gift items to choose from. There is also a bakery selling fresh baked goods and ice cream as well. The greenhouses were well stocked and included many garden gift items. The day we visited there was a great sale on most of the potted plants. While many things were a little pricey, there were some great deals as well. I’m willing to pay a little more to support local family businesses that provide high quality products and services. The staff at Whittaker farm were so friendly and helpful without being intrusive while we browsed. My favorite purchases were a variegated double blossom Rose of Sharon and a jar of Screaming Hornet Salsa! Five stars for the GREAT customer service and a fun experience that we shared.

April 6th, 2023...Well, it is officially Spring!!! They have Strawberries available now and they are delicious!! The 1 gallon baskets are $18.00 each and they are worth it.They also have lots of fresh produce and fresh baked cakes and breads and ice cream too. Their hours are Monday thru Friday 9 am to 6 pm and Saturday 9 am to 5 pm, closed on Sunday. Stop in and give them a try.Quick update...Dont forget to stop in, they are still open even though it is December. Their hours are 9 am to 5 pm Monday thru Friday and Saturday from 9 am to 4 pm. Closed on Sunday. They have lots of Christmas items to choose from! See the pictures I have posted. They still have lots of great produce too.I just love the people who work there! Their fresh produce and beef are always great too.It's Strawberry season at Whitaker Farms..$16.00 for a basket and $5.00 for a Quart. Lots of fresh produce too along with plenty of flowers in hanging baskets and pots too.

This year was our first time going and it was so much fun!! There was so much for my toddler to do! Played in the sand pile, slides, able to pet the donkeys and horses!!, and touch tortoise!!! hay ride, and so much more! We would definitely be doing this again next year!

Whitaker Farms has the best stuff! I bought alot of fresh produce, bread -n- butter pickles, and strawberry butter. Yummy!Last year my sister and me bought alot of canning tomatoes and a bushel of greens beans to can. I love this place!

We went there today Saturday sept 16th didnt no anything special was going on but they had people there selling things they made it was like a fall fest really cool first time they ever did this i wish i new if they was doing it tomorrow sunday sept 17th or maybe next year i dont have fb but i hope they find a way to let more people know if they do it next year i will be more perpaired next year and have some cash on me i love thing like that

Who doesn't love Whitaker Farms. Well if you have never been your in for a real treat. Between all the eye candy of nature there is plenty for your taste buds as well. You can find anything beautiful in nature here. I will say I have done a price comparison. Pentas last year I paid 5.99 at walmart and they were much smaller with only 2 color selections. At Whitaker Farms the price was 4.99 they were larger with 4 color selections. The growing medium that Whitaker Farms uses is much better resulting in stronger roots and a better plant. Yes there are some higher dollar things there but prices are most definitely comparable. With great customer service. They offer landscaping services to diy. So there is something for everyone there. Couple years ago I wanted something very special for my momma on mother's day. I wanted to buy her a lime hydrangea tree. All I could find was 2' to 3'. Took a chance and went to WF she had 2. Better believe my brother and I were thrilled. It was atleast 4 and half feet tall not counting the root ball. Was no more expensive than online choices. Ps ice cream for the kiddos is a great idea to keep them happy while you shop for plants, trees, annuals, perennials, rare houseplants, planters, pots, iron trellises, artificial flowers, home decor last but not least Food.

We had been going to Whiraker Farms for over a year now. The produce has been good and the plants and flowers hardy.Earlier this spring we went to the farm and was told the #2 case of tomatoes were decent. We had to throw away half of them. When i mentioned it on my next visit all I got was a shoulder shrug.This weekend was the final straw. On Saturday, my husband drove the 25 miles to the farm and was told they were unable to sell us a case of #1 tomatoes cause they sent them to the farmers market in Colfax. Okay, so we decided to drive another 25 miles on Sunday to Colfax only to be told they are unable to sell a case of tomatoes at this time but we could buy the tomatoes off the shelf at full price. And we could call the farm next week to see if they had enough to sell. (?)Also, two weeks ago we purchased tomato plants for $1.00 a piece. On this Saturday,the remainder of the same plants were $3.00 each. Price gouging?This left a very bad taste in our mouth. We will make sure all the people we have purchased for and have sent to Whitaker about the terrible customer service we received after being loyal.The dog is precious!

Friendly staff, open market style where you can roam and just look around or meet and chat with friends or strangers. Family run and operated by one of the kindest group of people you will meet!! I can always find something there, went to the one on 64 to see if they had the Cheesecake Factory cheesecake there and they didn't it is at the Climax one but I did find a box of green beans and some tomatoes so all was good. The Climax one had the Cheesecake and I also bought me six years of fresh picked corn, I like both locations, they also have a lot of pumpkins.

Love this farm and the workers are helpful and friendly. I found beautiful flowering plants that I have not seen anywhere else. Fairly priced produce. It's worth the long drive for me bc I enjoy growing things.

If you want it or need it for your garden, they have it. Lot's of beautiful plants, flowers and vegetables. A person could spend all day here. Reasonable prices. I found a hanging basket with 2 different plants but couldn't find a second one to go with it so they made one to match for me. Strawberries, cucumbers, squash and gorgeous tomatoes are in now. Beautiful array of all things outdoors! The baskets I bought for my porch can be brought in for the winter. I'm very pleased!

Very nice nursery kind of upscale for sure. Good place to get unique uncommon plants for a good price. I would not get my every day plants here though, much too high on the price for ordinary plants. If want to find some unique plants, trees, or shrubs this is your place. If you just want to buy alot of simple plants like begonias, or petunias, and so on there are better local nurseries for that.
