Visited this past the Saturday as a first time, customer after hearing a friend rave about this place and suggest that I check them out for my wedding next year.As a new customer, I would not have known that every second Saturday they reserve the inside space for their reservation only high tea events. There was nothing to indicate this when I walked into the shop. I wanted to have tea and a pastry and sit down and enjoy the atmosphere but wasn’t able to. The woman at the counter was less welcoming, and seemed inconvenienced.I ordered a slice of 5 flavor poundcake and a chocolate cupcake. The cupcake was old, icing was hard, and the cake itself tasted like it would sat in had sat in the cooler for sometime. The five flavor poundcake was good, but I will not be returning.

If I could leave zero stars I would. Came down town to support local small business, found an ice cream shop just down the corner and got the kids ice cream. I have an allergy so instead of going to Starbucks I seen this business sign for tea and wanted to support this small business. Well even though they have their open sign on the door and sign outside along with online their business hours say open they turned us away and said they were closed with about 7 people in there. I get if you close for a private party but to leave the open sign up and welcoming people in just to turn them away is unprofessional. I will not try or support this business again and will also by word of mouth let my friends know as well. Picture with open sign included in my post.

I had been wanting to go in and try Tea for Two since I saw the sign in passing. My husband and I went today. Our server Maddie, I believe was so nice. My husband got the sweet tea and roast beef sandwich and I got the cucumber sandwich and peach hot tea. We both chose the fruit as our side. The fruit was extremely fresh and sweet. Both sandwiches were served on white bread. His sweet tea wasn't the usual NC southern sweet tea. He said it was pretty weak, had lemon in it and wasn't sweet according to his taste. My peach tea (they had 4 teas of the day), was light and needed to really steep for quite awhile. They were graciousThe shop is extremely cute and well decorated, with enough space for one large table that appeared to seat 10 or so, and perhaps 3 or 4 other tables.View their daily menu on Facebook. I was torn between the cucumber sandwich or the turkey. I have to agree with other reviewers that the portions are small. It was fine for a light lunch, and then we still had room to get a sweet item each. He chose the Atlantic Pie - warning it is extremely tart. It has lemon juice from 3 lemons and lime juice. He said it was too lemony which he hadn't thought possible before today.I chose the salted caramel chocolate pretzel bar. It was delicious. Moist and a pretty big piece. I usually don't like sweet and salty together, but was glad I chose this.Overall, the charming setting, relaxing atmosphere and uniqueness make this a solid recommendation from me. I think having more information or a menu that includes details about everything would have guided us to make a few different choices.I love having high tea. I am looking forward to it on our upcoming cruise. In the meantime, this is a nice alternative.

This place is a true gem to enjoy a specialty tea and great food. Angela was so accommodating for my daughter who is gluten free. The themed tea was fun and creative.

My husband and I enjoyed your tea shop. We had lunch and the food was delicious but my husbands chicken croissant sandwich was so small for the price. Thank you for a great experience.

Totally cute, rustic/antique themed place. The inside is very pretty. The quiche and macaroni salad were pretty good ( especially the mac salad which was excellent) although I admit the portions are very small for the price. It was plenty enough for me for a light lunch. My tea glass was only about 3/4 full though( it's a very small stemmed glass). The girls were so nice I didn't want to say anything. Will definitely go back again when they have the tomato pie!

I had my first high tea here today and I truly enjoyed the experience. Everything was delicious! Our server was Maddie and she is a sweetheart, very funny and witty young lady. Did I mention everything was delicious?! I can't even name a favorite because it all was so good! The atmosphere is just wonderful!

Stopped by this afternoon for a little treat. The place was clean and nicely decorated with easy listening background music. I had a kitchen sink bar with an orange blossom lemonade. My wife had a piece of sugar free peanut butter and chocolate pie with unsweetened ice tea. All were delicious and served on glass plates with real utensils and napkins, and drinks were in stemmed glasses. The owner/baker was very friendly and graciously told us about everything in the case along with her menu for the day. Very enjoyable outing.

Angie & the Tea for Two team were nothing short of delightful to work with as they hosted a baby shower for my family member! Angie made things simple and provided a variety of options to accommodate our date and budget. All of our guests were extremely complimentary of the menu served and were happy with how easy it was to find. I would highly recommend Tea for Two to my friends and family.

I witnessed this so called custom bakery and customer service from this Pitiful business on Saturday. I wouldn’t want anyone to go through this and be let down by misleading reviews and photos. The quality of cake and cupcakes were so embarrassing and scary! The cake was to be gluten free and dairy free due to food allergies. With all of the issues encountered with this order it truly wasn’t safe to say it was gluten or dairy free. If I listed all the issues experienced I would run out of room. I’ve never witnessed such a bad experience with a custom bakery. I can’t in good conscious recommend this type of business.

The shop itself is adorable! The staff was very friendly as well. However, the food was not good. The croissants were old and hard, the cupcakes were very dry and the prices are outrageous!

Scary and disappointing, in 45 years of ordering cakes I've never had an experience this bad. The following aren't even all the issues experienced; the icing fell off the cake driving home from the bakery, decorating on cupcakes looked like a 10 year old was let loose with the icing, large eggshell in first bite of cupcake, part of the order was to be gluten free due to children with celiac disease, everything tasted the same, very scary. When the owner was questioned the response was unprofessional and one excuse after another. I can't even give them a second chance after this experience.

As a British expat I wanted to love this place. First time I went I checked the opening times but they were closed. I gave them another shot. My daughter and I were the only ones in there, I stood waiting to order and the woman said “I’ll be with you in a moment” and went outside, a few minutes later she returned. I drew breath to order, but before I had a chance she told me again “I’ll be with you in a moment”. I waited while she went to clear a table of two cups, and apparently rearrange the table cloth (again, we were the only ones in there). At this point I got fed up and left, we clearly weren’t priority.

Had a shop local day and went here for the first time. I am ashamed I haven't been in here before. I tried the apple cinnamon bar, and words fail to describe. The victorian Chai tea is really good as well and their selection of gluten-free items is both wide and tasty!Update: They have a lavender latte! It sounds weird, but is a must try! Also in our return trips we have gotten to enjoy some of the savory options as well as sweet, and they are just as amazing and rich as the sweeter items. There are still so many things left to try here, cant wait for the next visit.

My stepdad ordered a cake for my mother’s birthday. The cake looked beautiful and the icing was delicious but that cake was dryyyyyyyyyy. It was definitely over mixed bc it was super dense as well. Flavor was good but the recipe needs work.

Ordered a cake and cupcakes for my son's birthday party. The cake was supposed to be gluten free/ dairy free due to food allergies and then the cupcakes were ordered regular (half strawberry/half vanilla). Upon getting the cake home, the icing literally fell off the sides of the cake. It was sitting on my kitchen counter in the a/c. Upon sending a pic to the owner regarding the cake and inquiring why the cupcakes were all different sizes (some a lot smaller than others) she proceeded to explain that the cake was not their responsibility once it left the shop and that it had to be a transportation or temperature issue. It was sitting on my kitchen counter in the a/c, but it was my fault the icing just fell off. She realized she took the order wrong at this point and had made the cupcakes GF/DF as well. Hence why the price was so high for the order. She offered a gift certificate or on the house tea party at this point..I told her I would get back with her after the party as I didn't know if I wanted to do anymore business with her. I served the cupcakes and cake and let everyone know they were GF/DF so if anyone with allegeries wanted a cupcake they could have one. My son who is DF and my friends daughter who is GF both took a cupcake. At this point someone bit into their cupcake and crunched down on eggshell (see pic it was about the size of a quarter). Someone also bit into a strawberry in their cupcake. I was confused at this point because it was just vanilla cake with 1 single strawberry baked in the bottom, not actual strawberry cupcakes. The cake and cupcakes tasted NOTHING alike. We made my son and friends daughter stop eating them at this point because we were afraid they were not actually GF/DF since they tasted nothing like the GF/DF cake. I texted a pic of the egg shell to the bakery owner and she tried to call me during the party. I was serving cake at this point and a friend answered my phone. She argued that there couldn't have been egg shell in her cake. She also didn' t seem confident that the cupcakes were actually GF/DF after stating they were. I potentially exposed people with food allergies to things they cannot have. She did not apologize for this. She offered 1/2 refund on the cupcakes due to the order being wrong. She never addressed why the "strawberry" cupcakes were not actually strawberry cupcakes, and she continued to make excuses about the egg shell and icing on the cake. I have never left a review like this for any kind of business, but I am so upset with how this played out and the lack of responsibility the shop took for their mistakes.
