If you're into freshwater fish in the union county area, this store is a must go to. It's a bit small, but their attention to detail and product range is much higher quality than others in the area. Their freshwater plant section was lacking so that was a bit of a bummer. Maybe it was just a bad day? I've only been once so far so I'm not 100% sure. Customer service was excellent! Their website is also great for checking what fish are in stock.

Absolutely love The Fish Room. My husband and I have been fish lovers for over 10+ years and we always seem to find a wide variety of fish here. The owner Mike is so nice and super helpful. Always have a great experience when we come here. My husband and I make that 30 min drive just to come here. Staff is always so helpful and answers any questions we may have. The store is always SO CLEAN and the signage for the prices of everything is super clear. Always enjoy my visits here and I'll always be a loyal customer.

I highly recommend The Fish Room CLT! Absolutely amazing experience every time I have gone into the store and/or called for advice. Every employee I have encountered has been friendly, kind, and very knowledgeable about any product or concern I have had. The store owner Mike is an excellent resource for all fish needs, and not to mention a caring individual who will go out of his way to make your experience exceptional. Starting the saltwater hobby is an emotional rollercoaster—but I am thankful to have found The Fish Room CLT to make the experience easier—& fun!

Go see Mike and support our community! Hands down, always has the best selection of plants. I bought an orange crayfish from Mike and he is thriving with all my tetras. I put a lot of caves and leaves in the 36 gallon to keep him busy. I got 8 cherry barbs and numerous fish from Mike, all doing very well. They also have frozen brine shrimp available which is a great meal option for specific types of fish.

A new place, it's an awesome showroom! They have a variety of tropical and saltwater fish. And basically everything you could ever need to take care of them. Very beautiful. The owner is also very nice and friendly. If you are looking for a more exotic and modern aquarium this is the place!

It's a nice place good selection of fish They have shrimp flowers drift wood and a whole bunch of other stuff I'm a little disappointed because I bought shrimp and the guy that was working there told me they would be great for my fish tank but didn't let me know that goldfish or opportunistic eaters and would each shrimp if they could so I threw three shrimp in there and 15 minutes later they're all gone I'm a little bummed out about that feel kind of like a a dope for not googling that beforehand but it would have been helpful if the associate would have reminded me of that reality

I recently purchased my 125g tank from here. The experience couldn’t have went better. I’ve been to every fish store in Charlotte and surrounding areas and got the best customer service by far here. It’s not the biggest store out there but the layout makes it so it never feels cramped like other places around here. Not to mention they have the best plant selection/display I’ve seen in a long time. This is definitely my new go-to spot going forward!

First time visiting the store today and was very pleased. Definitely the best store I’ve been to in the Charlotte area. Very clean and well lit. The owner helped with the sale of some livestock I purchased. Wicked nice guy and seems very knowledgeable. I will definitely be returning very soon for more.

I’ve gone here a couple times now since they do have a pretty good selection of items and fish that I can’t find in other local shops closer to me but the employees were not friendly and didn’t seem interesting in helping me. It was really frustrating trying to get the attention of employees. I felt very unwelcome, like they just wanted me to leave. I will probably go for things I can’t find elsewhere but I’ve been really disappointed with the customer service on 3 out of my 4 visits. It really ruined my experience here and made me feel really awkward and uncomfortable as I desperately tried flagging down employees and was blatantly ignored on several occasions.

I have been a long time shopper of the Fish Room, but I'm not sure I will be going back. Not once, but TWICE (two separate visits) I walked in the front door to see two employees making out at the check-out counter. It was uncomfortable to witness, especially with my family with me.

Genuinely the best fish store I ever been to in the last 30 years. Despite being a newbie to salt water tank, I had too many questions and lot of confusion between setting up fresh water fish vs salt water. Mike (store owner) he was extremely informative and displayed an undivided attention made me feel important and gave out true information (not the sales pitch).I initially thought of purchasing a very small tank to begin with, but I felt very confident and comfortable after talking to Mike, I directly jumped into Max S 500. He not only helped me to setup the tank but he was genuinely focused on every minute detail. I never anticipated a store owner would be concerned about a customer's tank at this level.He treated me more like his friend than a customer, not to mention but I now treat him no less than a family :) Right from setting up the tank, watching the water chemistry frequently, keeping a tap on water circulation patterns, acclimating corals that I purchased else where in his store, bringing back infected fish to treat, making sure I have enough salt water and fresh water till he fixed the RO unit, I was even on a vacation for 2 weeks and yet he personally came home to make sure everything was running good and treated the water accordingly. I never seen anyone going this beyond just for a customer.He will serve as a fantastic influence for several North Carolina fish stores. He is the most passionate individual I've ever encountered, actually caring about each client and the live stock. I think he'll become well-known for his humanity someday (mark my words).Because of its fair rates, sincere advice, sincere care, wealth of knowledge, undivided attention, healthy live stock, high-quality goods, and real concern, I would unquestionably recommend the Fish Room store.

Whenever we need advice, they always have lots of info to share.We have been happy with everything we have bought there: plants, fish, shrimp, snails, substrate, dragon stone, foreign wood, tank cleaning equipment, and so on.We live kinda far from them since we moved, but we keep going because they are top notch!

This place is PHENOMENAL! The owner, Mike, is so helpful, patient and knowledgeable. I went in with my young kids to replenish out aquarium after we lost all of our fish during a tank change. Mike spent time with us as my kids asked endless questions, teetered between selections and obsessed over tank swag. They have been talking about going back to grow our "fish family" all week! Cannot recommend this amazing store enough!

Visited this shop for the first time 2 weeks ago. We were very impressed. The tanks and the shop are squeaky clean There's a great selection of fish, equipment, foods and accessories, all priced fairly. The employees are very knowledgeable and helpful. We highly recommend this shop. One of the best in Charlotte. Will be purchasing from them again.

Great store, clean and well stocked! Certainly stocking more varieties of fish than other stores. They have a selection of freshwater fish, invertebrates and plants, saltwater fish, corals, and invertebrates. I enjoyed asking my many questions about both fresh and saltwater. Knowledgeable staff that were able to answer my questions with clear expertise. Will be back!
