This is the best run shipping center in all of Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and Pittsboro. It is indispensable for the service it provides and I have had many experiences with Bob going above and beyond to problem solve and identify the best shipping solutions and prices for me. This store is also a hub for the entire Southern Village community and a great place to shop for locally made and unique gifts, greeting cards, and a wonderful and eclectic selection of crafts. Bob also rescues and fosters dogs, and displays paintings for local artists. This store is the essence of a community general store in an increasingly generic, low quality retail area.

The owner is rude and disrespectful.Calling people he doesn't even know "stupid".He doesn't seem to learn anything from the reviews he receives and respond to, who is the stupid one?Hey men, clean up your shop, clean your dogs and keep them in an enclosed area, so potential customers can come in.You should also rethink the concept of your business and most importantly learn kindness, respect and realize that you need customers. Just trying to help you out, honestly.

Owner is friendly and goes above and beyond to help customers. I've had many great experiences with this store and the owner. I personally love seeing all the dogs in the store and am thrilled that this man takes care of dogs in need!

The store is randomly closed throughout the day while he walks his dogs, which is understandable, but can be frustrating for people unfamiliar with the store. However, what is unacceptable is the complete lack of respect and professionalism. The door was opened only briefly to let someone by with a package, during which his one of the dogs ran out. He then proceeded to curse at a woman holding a baby about the dogs. Another occasion he yelled at someone walking their dogs by because they came too close to the glass... combined with the smell, trash, and doggy surprises on the floor, in all makes for a rather unpleasant experience.If you would like more examples, read the owners responses to the other reviews.

I see that 6 people have mentioned that the proprietor is touchy. Yes, there is interesting hand made jewelry in the store, but it doesn’t make up for a unhappy owner. I arrived at the store before closing and I was told by someone checking their rented box that he had left to walk a dog, he had left 3 dogs in the store. When he returned he said it was after hours and he was closed.

Very lovely place. Would go again!Plenty of neat local art and artisan crafts for sale. My mother and I went on my birthday and I quite enjoyed looking around. Man at register was very friendly (and so were the dogs). Beautiful prints, wonderous wire crafts, gorgeous jewelry, all very pretty.My only critique is how the back section is a little all over the place (there was a surprising amount of holiday items). It doesn't match the other composed and organized parts of the store.I haven't shipped anything through this service, but I assume it isn't half bad (based on the other reviews.)

I called to get information about domestic shipping via Fed-Ex. He showed lack of customer service or concern to help. He seemed more eager to get off the phone rather than to assist me. He actually hung up on me. I called back to thank him for the little information he gave me and to express the fact that he came across as rude. He began to talk over me and screaming in my ear. At that point, I just told him that God will deal with him. So I hung up because I refused to listen to someone screaming in my ear. He was VERY RUDE, impolite and disrespectful. I will NEVER recommend this location to anyone.

The gentleman who owns and runs this shop is a delight. In the many years I have been bringing packages and mail here, he has always been kind and pleasant. He is very knowledgeable about shipping options and is super efficient. Things move quickly. He was training a teenager a few summers ago to work as a shop assistant, and he exhibited the patience of Job in trying to teach this kid the ropes.

This shop's owner is, simply put, a gem! We are often out of the country and have all our mail forwarded to his shop during those times; he's always been nothing short of perfectly courteous and helpful. When shipping items, he takes the time to patiently explain all the options and their cost. I am in this shop quite often, and I have never seen the owner yell or behave in a rude manner to anyone. In fact, I dread the moment this gentleman will retire as this will be a huge loss for Southern Village.

I don’t agree with comments about owner. I have been going to Strays off and on for 8 years...always received excellent customer service. In fact, owner went out of his way to be accommodating on more than one occasion. Unfortunately, southern village can be notorious for entitled and unpleasant patrons. Money doesn’t always equal happiness or good manors. I say “calm down” to the negative reviewers.

Service is prompt and friendly. Note that only pre-labelled Amazon returns are accepted here. No barcodes. Only gripe is that it constantly smells like wet dog inside.

Man has never been courteous and dismissive. I have gone in 3 times in past 9 months and I swore after the last time I would never return. My wife has been there twice the past month and she actually left bc he was not only dismissive but rude. Will not return and maybe this post will save another from an unfriendly encounter.

The owner of this shop just yelled at two 3 year old boys for looking through his shop door. I have also witnessed him yell at a young girl in his shop. Shame on him! Don’t bring your kids here, or they'll be yelled at by the angry shop owner. Items are overpriced anyway, and I can ship my packages from many other locations.

Glad to have this business near by. Saves me trips to the post office. Why wait in long lines to ship things or to get stamps. It's convenient, right next to Weaver St. Market in Southern village.The owner and her staff are friendly, and have helped me ship packages all over the world.

Strays is a great place. Friendly and full of great art and gifts. Bob is extremely fun and helpful. Highly recommended as a place to look for a unique gift, find some local art, or simply ship a package. I use Stray's mailboxes for business mail and love it.
