This shop is wonderful! Picked up a hammock for our honey moon trip! The young man at the front desk I believe Collin was super sweet as well as his pup Murphy.. he greeted us with a wagging tail and lead us on in! I almost cried because I didn’t want to stop the cuddles! Lol thank you!

We rolled in around lunch on Saturday to cedar mountain. Partially lost and needing information for parking and fuel. Collin (the owner) had just stepped out and a friend named “chick” was there to help us out! What started as needing directions turned into a 45 minute pit stop, a new shirt for my brother and the coolest locals I’ve ever met. We spent the day motorcycle riding up Pinnacle Mountain, and checking out different waterfalls a few miles up the road. Awesome place, a must stop if your passing through, and we can’t wait to come back to the area! Collin, you’ve got an awesome store, and even better neighbors. We hope to meet you and the hound next time!

Great locally owned outdoor gear shop with an extensive amount of wilderness knowledge of Dupint State Forest.. Great stop if you are looking for trail snacks, energy bars, or any last minute outdoor gear before entering Dupont State Forest. Family friendly and knowledgeable staff they have essential gear for the adventurer and the souvenirs the family would like before hitting trail. Highly recommend the stop.

Smack dab on the edge of Dupont state forest.This place has anything and everything you might have forgotten to pack for a day of hiking or a night of camping out.Eclectic, interesting hidden gems to peruse, and with the friendliest sleepy-eyed shop dog I've ever seen.

Recently we were staying in Brevard and on our way back from Caesars Head stopped by Hiker and the Hound. He had actually just closed the store but told us to come on in. A very nice man and a great store. Would encourage everyone to stop by when in the area.

Love this place, all the employees and especially the owners! They have handiwork from local artists making it the perfect place to shop for someone’s special gift or 10. Also, they have all you need for camping/ hiking if you need gear replaced or forgot something!

A Gem of a store for hikers and knick-nacks. Be sure to visit BEFORE hiking for everything you need like trail maps and supplies. And talk about location; perfect stop on the way to Dupont or Caesars Head. Tell Colin I said Hi and be sure to give Murphy the Basset Hound some loving!

The BEST outfitter along 276! A must stop!The selection at Hiker and the Hound is impressive. I really appreciate the attention to local made goods and hand crafted items.In addition, offering necessities for hiking, mountain biking, etc is very beneficial in case o forget something on my way into DuPont.Also, dog friendly! Yay!
