This was my first time boarding my German Shepherd. I am very impressed by the friendliness of the staff and their willingness to accommodate my pet’s needs. He was able to play with lots of different dogs and came home exhausted so I know he was kept occupied. The kennel offered their shampoo service which was definitely needed as he was a bit dirty when I picked him up. But I wanted to bath him myself. I will use this kennel in the future as I also think their pricing is very reasonable. Highly recommend.

Even though I had to make a change of plans and my dog didn’t end up boarding, I was impressed with how willing they were to accommodate my dog who has a tumor and is on palative care. It’s not easy finding a facility last minute with a dog who has a long list of care items but Ashley reached out to me and made me feel so comfortable. Will 100% be using them in the future and as an animal care professional myself I was just impressed with the fact that they were willing to listen and understand my situation. Highly recommend just off of the customer service alone!

I recently boarded my dog for a week at Dogwood. I called midweek to check on how he was doing and was told he was doing great, eating and playing hard. I specifically asked if he had chewed his dog bed as he g he as done this before, and was told he hadn’t at all. On the day we were picking him up, we were running late and I called to check on their hours. I was then informed that he had chewed his bed on the second day he was there ( this was BEFORE I called the first time and was told all was great). Then I was told he had developed a pretty bad cough the last couple of days. This was the first I was being informed he was sick. At my arrival the girl told he there had been some cases of dogs with upper respiratory infections there while my dog was there. I now have a very sick dog who has no appetite and very lethargic. I will NEVER board him at Dogwood again and discourage anyone from doing so. I should have learned after his first stay not to board him there, as he came home with a bad cough then also but seemed to heal quite quickly. It is a shame that these animals are not cared for the way we think they are when we drop them off. I’ve since called and asked what their protocol is when a dog shows signs of illness and was told they call the owner on the first day of symptoms. (At this point the worker didn’t know my situation and thought I was just asking how they run their business). After questioning how they do things I explained how my dog came home very sick and wanted to speak with the owner. I was told I would receive a return call, but have not yet.

After touring a few boarding facilities, and finding out about this particular one, we decided to tour this one as well. We HAVE to be able to see where our babies will stay. No exceptions. We had one facility that wouldn't even let us pass the front desk. We met Rob, the owner the day we came. We have two rescue dogs and we were extremely hesitant to leave them anywhere. Our largest dog has never been boarded or even been to a dog park, so to say he is not socially trained is truly an understatement. After talking to Rob and explaining our concerns and fears, he reassured us that they would be taken care of extremely well. Not gonna lie - it was so hard to leave them (especially him) for the first time. That was two weeks ago. They both did fine and we would recommend this beautiful facility over and over again. Thanks to Rob and all his staff for taking care of our babies - Duke and Bella.

I don't post a lot of reviews but felt compelled to share my experience with Dogwood Kennels. We recently moved to North Carolina from Wisconsin and have never had to kennel our dogs. We've always had family that could stay with them if we were gone. I researched several kennels before choosing Dogwood. They had very good reviews, and this was the only one that would allow us to pick our dogs up on Labor Day rather than waiting (and paying for another day) to pick up on Tuesday. Their prices were also very reasonable and we liked the family-type experience their website mentioned. We have a large doberman and a small chihuahua that needed to be cared for when we were on a seven-day vacation. Our Dobie is four and is quite loyal and protective. He's also not very socialized and very attached to me. I can't leave a room without him following me or waiting for me behind a closed door. We had concerns about the safety of the staff and other animals at the kennel. This was all conveyed before we chose a kennel and when we dropped him off. I asked if they could email or text me after their first night to let me know how they were doing. To my surprise they actually called me the following day and let me know they were doing well and that Vito (doberman) was doing very well and had already warmed up to the staff and having a great time. This greatly reduced our anxiety and worries and allowed us to enjoy our vacation without constantly worrying about Vito. We got home a bit earlier than we had planned and I called them around 530 on Sunday night. Anna informed me that their pick up time was only until 3pm, but I could pick them up if I could be there by 6pm. We live about 30 minutes away from the kennel so I left immediately to pick them up so we wouldn't have to wait until the next day. I arrived there right at 6pm and Vito was on his leash and running free behind their fence. I was amazed at how comfortable he was with Anna and the young gentleman that was also there. This was quite surprising as I had to walk him into the kennel when we arrived as he wasn't overly friendly when we initially arrived a week before. I always have to remain with him when we go to the vet or anywhere else to ensure that he doesn't growl at others. He was quite content and at ease with Anna. We were so thankful that we were allowed go pick them up early and bring them home. It meant a lot to us as we really missed them and were excited to be reunited. I was also blown away that they said we'd have a credit for future services since we picked them up a day early. I would highly recommend Dogwood Kennels to anyone that needs to board their pets. They far exceeded our expectations. Thank you so much for caring for our furry family members and we wouldn't consider taking them anywhere else in the future.

We have been taking our two dogs here for about 2 years and we have had a great experience. They always seem so happy and so tired after they come home - a good thing! The girl who works there, answers the phones, etc. is great! She always calls me back when I leave a message. Thanks for taking care of my pups!

The very best kennel around! We have 2 labs and drive 58 miles so they can stay here when we are away. It’s so worth it! From the time you call ( and if they don’t answer right away, they call you right back) it is a very organized and loving place to leave your precious pets. The assistant manager Anna is terrific at answering any questions you have, and the rest of the staff is great! I highly recommend Dogwood Kennel and Cattery!

We have boarded our Pup here several times. It has been a great experience. He's always excited to go and comes home real happy. In the past when we boarded our dog other places he came home upset acting. They are always friendly and ready to help us and our pup feel safe and comfortable.

Wonderful place to leave your pet. What impressed us as soon as we stepped out of our car was the clean smell. The play areas, sleep areas, everything was clean.The staff is very professional, friendly and you just know they love what they do! I knew Toby would be in good hands and was able to take my trip without having to worry about his safety or state of mind!Toby was so happy when we picked him up! I don't think he wanted to leave!Highly recommend this facility.

This use to be a great kennel. Our vet even recommended them but the management has changed and so has the service. Unfortunately not for the better. They are understaffed and not very organized. We will be finding a new boarder for my fur baby. He deserves better.Our reservations were wrong or canceled unknown to us, several times leaving us in a bind during the busy vacation season.

We boarded 2 very loving family pets for a week while we were on the lake. They seemed happy on the pick up and the place was nice, clean and their workers loved dogs. Would recommend and come back if we need to board again or do day care.

Outstanding place for dogs! Our dog gets excited when we are taking him there in the car and he recognizes the street where the kennel is located. Sometimes we just take him there for a "play day"... comes back exhausted, but happy. Great for boarding and grooming too!!

We boarded our family dog here for several years and received exceptional service and customer service, until the last couple of months. *** Management has changed and service has too.*****VERY hard (next to impossible) to get anyone to answer the phone or return calls or emails. We referred many people to this Kennel but are sad to see the service has gone downhill so quickly.I was able to finally get them to answer through facebook messenger. Which they said they tried to answer the phone and it was breaking up. Well I heard your voicemail message come through clearly on my end, every time I called (which was at least 30 time, since you left me hanging on a Holiday weekend), we left several voicemails and emails which were never returned.Only to be accused of canceling our reservation ourselves online, which we didn't. It's a process to cancel so not easily done AND why would we when we had reservations.We were offered a crate for our 70lb hound for the weekend. No Thanks! That's not even humane!

I love my dogs like they were my children and this is the only place I will take my dogs. They are more than an hour from where I live and I still take my dogs there every time I'm going out of town. I've taken my dogs there probably 2 dozen times or more and I have never had a bad experience. One of my dogs is extremely skiddish and they are extremely patient in dealing with him. I love this place and can't say enough good things.

Was given a detailed tour as a potential employee and saw how the kennels operates and treats the dogs. Great place for dogs to be dogs!! The most unstressful atmosphere I have seen for dogs away from home. Tons of supervised time outside and group playtime.

My very clingy dog was less excited to see me after a week than she normally is when I leave the house for a few hours, so she clearly had a great time at Dogwood. The facilities were clean and all the staff I spoke to were very friendly and helpful.

Worth the drive from Charlotte. The staff was very caring and took great care of our 8 year old Lab. They have an outdoor area made for big dogs equipped with baby pools for the heat. They don’t seem to “overpack” dogs for weekends like some local Charlotte kennels do. We received Facebook pictures of our dog all weekend. Will definitely be back.

I took my dog there for a one night stay to try them before we left her for a week while we went on vacation. The day we got her home she was angry and would not sit with us like she usually does. Two days later she was throwing up and coughing. We get her to the vet and are told she has kennel cough.
