We were called by this animal shelter that there was space available to surrender a pet dog.We were on a waiting list. May daughter who is 16 was the primary caretaker of our family dog. Due to circumstances out of our hands sadly this was the last option after making several attempts to re-home him. My daughter did some research and had chosen this shelter under the assumption that they do not euthanized unless severly necessary. We hoped he would be adopted into a better home. We weren't there 2 mins and one staff came back with the dog asking in an unprofessional loud manner, "how does he get along with other dogs"? We stated fine. He's been around other dogs and stranger dogs( pet stores, dog parks)He's a wimpy dog and will run from a fly. So we were surprised to hear that he attempted to attack another dog. Even though we heard nothing( no barking or growling, they were not far from us)and then she brought him back and said, "if he stayed he would be euthanized today!"to my 16 year old daughter. She was loud and very rude. The dog looked just as calm as he was when we gave him to the staff lady. No sign of being aggressive or even upset.My daughter broke down immediately crying uncontrollable. I just couldn't believe an adult would tell a child that. Then the same staff asked if we wanted him back or else. This experience bothered me all day. I couldn't believe how that particular staff came at my 16 year old daughter. You don't tell a child that your going to kill their dog today if he stays.

I am really grateful to the sheriff's office for the good care they give the animals. I have two beautiful cats I got from them 5 years ago. I try to donate from time to time.

We’ve had our beautiful Sally Mae aka Charlie for 10 days and she is outstanding! I urge everyone to adopt these wonderful pets. The process was easy and the staff was awesome!

Such an easy adoption process! Facility was nice and clean. I liked using the computer to view animals it seems to be less stressful than walking through the kennels.

Very welcoming. Staff addresses you as soon as you walk through the door. Very clean and tidy . You can use there ketosis to view adoptable fur babies. They bring the animalout to great you that way you can see if you two are compatible. The pup I adopted was well cared for while there. He is a fun loving guy who sticks to my side. I would recommend anyone looking to adopt a pet to come here first.

This is the best shelter I've been to. They take very good care of the animals here and the people there are very helpful and patient. I drove here with a friend from Sanford months ago but I was impressed with how clean everything was. :) I was charged $80 something BUT my dog was already spayed, chipped and up to date on her shots!! I recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a pet!

I picked up a stray dog that was standing in the middle of the road and almost hit by the car in front of me. The shelter could not take the dog because they were full. I asked for assistance with other options but was rudely told I should have just left the dog on the road.

This is an amazing shelter. I've worked in a large shelter while growing up in Orange Co CA. This shelter is every bit as healthy and wonderful. The staff is awesome. They make you feel like family adopting one of their own. I can't say enough positive words for all of you.

I did not like several things there. First of all we were not allowed to go and see the animals, we had to look at pictures on a computer screen. Secondly we were told there were only 3 dogs available for adoption. Come on, a county shelter, in a county as large as Moore County, and only 3 dogs? Also it was extremely quiet. Ok no animals up for adoption, where's the other animals and why are they so quiet? I'm not trying to suggest that there's anything wrong there but you are asking for my opinion and that is exactly the thoughts I had. My final thought was where are all the dog's? Are they just not being picked up or is there a higher risk of them being euthanized here. I don't like this place at all.

We were very impressed with the staff and services at this location. The gentlemen that assisted us was very helpful in providing clear directions with regards to the spay and neuter program. They also have veterinarians on site at certain times. Our community is fortunate to have this service.

Wonderful staff, very friendly. Was searching shelters for a medium dog, preferably beagle and they happened to have three mixes that fit that criteria. We got the most perfect boy! Amazing dog really, and so mellow! I wish we could take his siblings too! This place makes it a breeze and we took him home the same day. Highly recommend checking here for your fur baby.

Sheriff J. Brady was our Godsend today. She got a wheelchair and helped my 94-year -old ambulatory impaired mother to the Clerk of Court office, to the Estate office, back to the bathroom in the Clerk of Court building and back into our car. Officer Brady was a true public servant and our angel. Moore County is blessed to have such a special person representing it!

Pretty good as shelters go. The dog room was loud, but the dogs had room in their kennels to move around a great deal. They seemed well taken care of. The adoption fees are reasonable.

Went and looked at dogs Friday and got to leave with the one we chose. Hes a great dog so far. They were really friendly at the shelter and gave us a bunch of stuff to take home with the dog. In and out within 40 min.

We went looking for a younger dog. Drove the 30 minutes there to find out they were closed because of black Friday. Okay, that's fine. We go back today (Saturday) to find they're closed again. Sign on the gate says 10am to 2pm. We have called and called and can't get ahold of anybody. Who closes an animal shelter for black Friday? So i guess we will be looking elsewhere to find our new furry family member.

I have a 4 month old that needed a playmate but could calm him down they showed me 2 dogs and a cat I really loved Betty who ever gets her will be very lucky I just don't have it in me as I thought to walk two dogs and raise a baby but they let me try Suzi and she was amazing with a puppy being a 2 year old cat she could play with him hold her own with out getting too aggressive or upset she kept her cool and told him her boundaries without anyone getting hurt it was his first experience with a cat and because of their knowledge I was able to find a perfect fit into our family

Loved it. I worked at the WTB Dog Tags program and we couldn't have done it without the help of this center!!!We appreciate the hard work put into this center! Would recommend a visit before visiting a pet store!!!

I go to this center at least once a week as I train dogs and am always looking for a pup that would be a good candidate to be trained as a service dog. Staff are great and the dogs are well cared for

Made several complaints about a dog that was being starved to death but they said legally they could not do anything and the dog ended up dying
