I swing by here and pick up a coffee and pastry a few Saturdays out of the year on my way to sewing class at Mulberry Silks. Solid roasts. The cold brew this past weekend is what inspired my post. Super fruity and complex, I always drink mine black to save on calories and it was honestly just fantastic. If I was closer I'd come on a weekly basis. The pastries are usually from Ninth Street Bakery, and they are fantastic. The baristas and staff are always super chill and great conversation if it's slow too.

A 16 oz latte + whipped cream + a syrup at open eye is one of my favourite study treats!!! The danishes are also great. Wifi can be a tad slow, however it’s generally a great study spot.Fun fact: you can buy the art off the wallsParking: There’s parking across the street too

A Carrboro / Chapel Hill classic coffee spot! A must try if you’re in town or a local / college student. Open Eye brews up the best cup of Joe in town. The environment is laid back, with great music pumping, lots of outlets to plug your laptop in, and tons of seating (indoor and out)! A great balance of college students and locals, this is the coffee shop in town.

This was my first time in and I loved the space and the atmosphere. The staff was very welcoming of me and very friendly.I got their mint mocha special, highly recommend. My friend got their spiced apple cider which smelled amazing.I look forward to going back and trying new things!Dietary restrictions: I got oat milk and they offered other dairy free alternatives.

Large cafe with lots of tables/seating. 4 stars because the wifi is slower at this location compared to Weaver Street nearby - even though it’s the same network. The iced tea is crisp and refreshing. Definitely has a Carrboroesque vibe!

This place is timeless. The interior is cozy and has plenty of seating options (big tables, small tables, barstools, those old timey school desks with a mini side table). They don’t have much in terms of “real food” but the baked goods are very good (from Ninth Street Bakery). Then of course, there’s the coffee. I almost always go for a latte or cappuccino - the espresso is rich and smooth and without a hint of bitterness- but they also have classic brewed options from local roasters. Once you’ve had a lavender eye opener from here you’ll never go back to those Big Coffee chains.Dietary restrictions: Soy / almond / oat milk options

Amazing coffee, amazing people. I've only had great experiences at Open Eye, whether I'm grabbing a quick drink, gathering with friends, or getting some work done. Top notch customer service from all staff, including Anna, Justin, Natalie, and Lee, who are all so friendly and make the tastiest beverages. I cannot recommend this place enough!

Awesome shop! I dropped in to get some with work done, and I'm so glad I did.I can't say anything about their coffee, but their matcha latte was great. Way, way better than that junk they sell at Scambucks, that's for sure. If this drink is any indication, then I'd bet their coffee is excellent. As others pointed out, the shop has great atmosphere, and it's also very open. A ton of seating is available. I was honestly surprised at the amount of space and enjoyed how I didn't feel like I was jammed in with the other customers like some shops.I went twice over two days. The workers behind the counter were there each time, and they were both very friendly and polite.Lastly, the thing I liked the most is that they use compostable materials for to-go orders, as well as reusable drinkware for those who chose to dine-in. Seriously, I can't say how much I appreciate this! Many coffee shops, especially since the start of the Pandemic, seem to have transitioned to single-use cups for every single order, even for those that aren't to-go. The amount of junk, particularly plastic, being put out by these shops is horrific and maddening, so it's really great to see a place like Open Eye help reverse this abhorrent trend! Kudos to you all!Give them a shot if you need a drink or a place to read or be productive!

Atmosphere good, coffee very good, wifi terrible. They use the town’s free wifi and apparently you get what you pay for.

Quite an awful experience. The WiFi was spotty at best, it took forever to get our coffee, asked for lite ice, half the volume of the cup was ice, asked for water, never got that, spent 5 times as much money for basically the same amount and quality (maybe worst) of coffee you’d get at Dunkin. I understand they seemed busy and they were very friendly which makes me feel bad with this review, and the vibe was somewhat nice. Even if the service and WiFi was good, I don’t see myself ever wanting to come back for the watery coffee. But yeah, avoid this place unless you wanna ruin your day.

Open Eye is one of my favorite coffee shops in the Carrboro / Chapel Hill area. I come here a lot to study and do work. Though it is often very busy, I usually find an open table. There are also a couple of side rooms that are popular for those trying to study. The staff is very friendly and the coffee is great. There’s also a large outdoor area in the back (in addition to the tables in the front). Highly recommend Open Eye!

Not only was their coffee and tea delicious, but their staff was super friendly and they stay open while every other coffee shop closes in the early afternoon. Lots of specious seating near power outlets and they were very Covid conscious without being overbearing about safety. Highly recommend!

Nice pour over. I would have liked more than one origin to choose from and somewhere that had the tasting notes. It was good. When I got home I was still drinking it. I noticed that the to go cup was imparting a paper taste. (Not the first pour over to be affected by the cup, ime) Poured the remainder into a mug and it went away.

I try to visit Open Eye at least once a week. Love it here! Friendly staff who go above and beyond the busy-ness to make our orders in a timely manner. For the most part, I always try to round up. Today, I personally had a bad morning and realized I had lost my debit card. They were kind enough to give me a cafe mocha on the house. The drinks, coffees, pastries are all delicious, excellent quality. Thank you, Open Eye, for being here for the community. We appreciate your service!

Great cafe. They also use some of the best beans in the triangle and sell them at a better price than other shops I've been to that use Carboro roasters.

I had a really great experience here. The baristas are super friendly and personable, & even introduced themselves when i gave them my name for the order! Coffee tastes great and the pastries are delicious as well. Prices include tax & are reasonable. Will definitely come back!

Coffee was awesome. Had the chai with espresso. Barista was seriously rude. I asked if the drink on the counter was mine and got a snarky response about how there were other drinks ordered in front of mine. Could have just said no!

very good coffee, friendly staff and no matter how busy it is they always seem to get my order out pretty fast and still made with care. i love that they stay open so late for a coffee shop and how spread out the inside is. my the only con is that it’s a bit expensive but not too much more than other cafes in the area. the curbside/contact free pickup is excellent and fast, definitely one of my favorite things about this place.
