First time there was fine. Second time there was terrible. They gave me a test I didn't need for my state inspection when I asked for a specific one (I have CT plates), then scratched my car. They didn't charge me for corrected test (thanks) and offered to buff it out the scratch they made but haven't called back. When I called they said their person was backed up but haven't given me updates since. Still waiting...

I love Chapel Hill Tire! They’re always so nice, thorough, and helpful. Every time I go elsewhere for a second opinion I find that Chapel Hill Tire has offered me a price as good as or better than their competitors. Shout out to Jeanna at the front desk for helping me prioritize work when I couldn’t afford everything on my list. My Subaru has 140k miles on it and still runs like a dream, thanks in no small part to these guys!

I’m having a hard time with Chapel Hill Tire - Carrboro. Every time I’ve used their services, the customer service to fix whatever they’ve done wrong is great. But I’ve encountered an issue every time I’ve gone to them for service.The first time I went here was to replace my tires, they sold me a mid grade set which was great, exactly what I was looking for. But it turned out they actually sold me tires the shop didn’t have. No biggie, they said. We just put a more expensive set of tires on. A great way to solve the issue for the customer, but I would have rather not encountered the issue.I went for an inspection and the report came back saying I should replace some things based on mileage. That’s standard. But it also said that I should replace my drive belt specifically because it appeared original, not because of the mileage. Problem being that I replaced my drive belt recently and it only had 2k miles on it. When I asked the technician why they suggested that the drive belt was original, they said “oh I don’t know, it’s the default comment.” But why did none of the other suggestions have a default comment? Whether that’s true or not, it’s shady and probably fools people into spending hundreds of dollars on a service they don’t need.The most egregious is their detailing service. I paid $165 for them to vacuum my car. Barely wiped it down. They apologized, had the mobile detailed come out and redo the service for free. Again, great customer service. But the detail I paid for includes an interior shampoo which I did not receive either time the interior was worked on. I know because the seats were never wet after the service, they were still stained, and because they were cleaned with a spray bottle. The detailer, who was very nice and apologetic, said they couldn’t clean my seats. They need an extractor. Respectfully, that’s what I’m paying a detail premium for. They’re clearly lying about services to up charge customers for work they aren’t doing. Don’t get a detail here. You’ll pay almost $200 for a vacuum and maybe they’ll wipe it down. Vacuum and wipe it down yourself at an automatic wash for $10. You’ll probably do a better job.The people are great. The service is not.

Chapel Hill Tire - Carrboro is absolutely amazing. They are professional, friendly, and quick. My car had been having problems starting over the last few weeks but every time I took it in (I went to a few other mechanics) no one could tell me what was wrong. On a Friday around noon, the car wouldn’t start. I called several places to see if they had any openings that day (this is my only car and didn’t want my family to be carless for an entire weekend) and Chapel Hill Tire - Carrboro was able to see me right away. Before the day was out they told me what was wrong and fixed it. Finally someone was able to help!! They also drove me home while they worked in the car and picked me up when the car was done (I guess this is a complimentary service for local residents) but this kind of service just blew me away. They never pressured me into paying for more services either. They definitely won my business, and I am so grateful to have found them!

Chapel Hill Tire was easy to schedule with for multiple services on one day and they accommodated my schedule which changed twice before I could actually get my car in to the shop. On the day of they worked to accommodate the time by which I needed my car back. They also provided clear communication and estimates on services before completing them. I came down 2 and a half hours from Charlotte to chapel hill for the weekend but in the last 30 minutes my cars check engine light started flashing and every time I tried to accelerate my car would shake. I regret telling them my situation because it seems they tried to take advantage of my bad situation. What should have been a simple fix of the spark plug and ignition coils turned to a whole array of problems saying it would cost me $2950 to fix but I told them I just wanted the ignition coils and spark plugs changed so they dropped it to $1065. A still outrageous price for the work needed. As I needed to drive back that day and was on a time crunch they were the only place able to get me in i was low on options. So I decided to drive back despite all the problems driving 2 and a half hours with a misfiring engine… potentially damaging my engine and catalytic converter but I already have quite an old car so it’s about time for an upgrade anyways. I made it back and took it to my go to mechanic and they did a free diagnosis compared to chapel hill tires $95 diagnosis charge and for the same fix with the addition of 2 more ignition coils and a new air filter the price dropped $655 to a total of $410 for everything... I usually don’t leave bad reviews but they seem to have a twisted morality and who knows how many clueless college students or others they have tried to screw over.

Showed up with a leaky tire 15 minutes past closed on a Friday afternoon. They were willing to stay late to swap me into my spare and were able to special order my new tire to be in by the following Monday. Really saved me when I was in a pickle and extremely affordable. Would absolutely recommend

I took my car in for a state inspection + tires rotation/balance (I got my tires from them) on Monday. But the report says a bunch of things I don't need right now, such as rear park light are working but they said it's not, I already changed my spark plugs but they added it, and saying there was oil leaks when my friend and I were just under the car and checked everything as we did the oil change, and I made sure that there was no oil leaks and wiped all things clean etc. These tactics are common amongst car shops, I understand the practice to create issues and up-sell; but to someone who cares for her car, it was tasteless and low bar, because I am on top of my own maintenance for over 3 years. I am debating if I'd go back again for tires and other services. This was my 3rd or 4th time with this Carrboro location, and I usually give a place a few tries. This past Monday just wasn't stellar.

I’ve been taking my car for years to CHT Carrboro for general maintenance as well as repairs. It’s very easy to schedule online. An actual person confirms the appointment via email. They send updates via text, you can text back and they reply very quickly. They send a detailed, easy to understand vehicle report, with quotes for repairs. They’re very transparent about costs and quotes are itemized. I really value the ease of communication as well as their efficiency. Their customer service is phenomenal and every staff member I’ve interacted with has been so nice and helpful. They’re knowledgeable and completely professional. They offer transport if needed. My experiences over the year have been nothing but positive and I wouldn’t dream of ever taking my car anywhere else.

TY for the same day service, fitting me in on an especially day.The plastic cover you removed a plastic cover under the hood which had torn and was dragging on the road as I was driving.It was very annoying and I didn't want it to cause any other problems .By leaving my car a few hours and being patient, I got a really good deal! I brought my vehicle here because it was having major issues. I have to say, I’m very impressed with the customer service I received and how easy the whole process was. I was given a detailed quote of everything that needed to be repaired. When I spoke with a representative I was given honest feedback. I was never bullied or pushed to pay for repairs I didn’t need. I really appreciate the representative working with me to figure out the best solution for my vehicle. In the end the cost of the repairs outweighed the value of the vehicle. Even though no work was done in my vehicle I still highly recommend this location because of the good morale characteristics represented here.

Always a great pleasure working with Chris up front. Glad CHT found my oil leak was just a loose oil filter. Just can’t figure how it came loose in the first place. Then we got into replacing front AND rear suspension. Probably really needed it. But looking at labor costs, I regret I went into dentistry when I should have studied automobile mechanics. I might have retired earlier. Chris said that my 2014 Caddy SRX would drive like new again after suspension replaceme. Not quite true. The ride was actually a bit rougher than I remember. Just not the same smooth “magnetic ride” Cadillac was so proud of. But I did notice the car handled a lot better than before like it had racing suspension instead. And that’s a fair trade for me. I enjoy the better handling now. So no complaints about the results of the work done. Still, I think I would have done a lot better in life if I’d gone into car repair instead of doing root canals.

Amazing service. The lady at the front desk did an amazing job and went above and beyond the call of duty. I believe her name was Mallory but she helped with finding the right parts, pulling up service records and giving me different options for my car. She was a very friendly person to talk to while my car was being worked on. She was able to work me in last minute for a brake and rotor replacement before a big weekend trip. The pricing was great! I have definitely found me a mechanic I will be returning to for any type of maintenance!
